Losing my girlfriend in 1998 due to my massive meth addiction and taking her for everything she was (didnt mean to) , when my friend played this in his dim lit store of large antiques in the late hours of the night, I felt like this was her words to me............. this song will always take me back to then. Horrible to lose someone you love because of a ridiculous problem. All different now, but wow, music can put you there.
GF wandered off with a younger guy after 10 years, This got played for about 2 years!!!! then turned it all around, Always, always move on and take the music with you.
Honestly this surpasses the Missing Todd Terry mix that made them a smash success. I think they pulled off this style all on their own and this song really proves that.
Listened to this album on a loop at home and on my discman the year it was released. Was a fan of ebtg since Idlewild and their change in sound partially mirrored my own evolution and maturing of musical taste. It’s such a revelation to suddenly be drawn to clubbing later in your youth (‘cos you were too young and stuck in the Australian Outback in ‘89), discovering a latent love of House and Drum n’ Bass music finding its natural energetic outlet. Have been listening to the band’s back catalogue as Sydney comes out of a 3 month lockdown and I’m reminded of that time in the 90s and 00s when I went from being an adolescent to a young man. I’m so glad to have had ebtg’s music there as part of the soundtrack to my growing up and it still resonates with me decades later. 👍🏻✨
just caught-up with the 18/4/96 Top of the Pops rerun* and they performed this in the studio; had forgotten how brilliant it was/is and sang along (as best i could) *11 days left on iplayer...
I love this song. It’s crazy I just found it a few months ago but felt like I heard it when I was younger. This song will forever be in my playlist. Trip hop is so underrated I love it 🙌🏽
"Walking Wounded" Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every bus Is you and me and him and her and nothing can replace the us I knew Nothing can replace the us I knew And no, I'm never gonna let you go No, I'm never gonna let you go And now I know I had a choice, though you never made it clear to me I thought you never felt it deeply Now I'm never gonna let you go No I'm never gonna let you go 'Cause I could have loved you forever I could have loved you forever What do you want from me?, Are you trying to punish me? Punish me for loving you, punish me for giving to you Punish me for nothing I do, punish me for nothing You punish me for nothing, for nothing Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every bus Is you and me and him and her and nothing can replace the us I knew Nothing can replace the us I knew You know I'm never gonna let you go Now I'm never gonna let you go And now I know I had a choice though you never made it clear to me I thought you never felt it deeply Now I'm never gonna let you go No I'm never gonna let you go 'Cause I could have loved you forever I could have loved you forever Or I could have left you forever I could have left you forever What do you want from me?, Are you trying to punish me? Punish me for loving you, punish me for giving to you Punish me for nothing I do, punish me for nothing You punish me for nothing, for nothing Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every bus Is you and me and him and her and nothing can replace the us I knew Nothing can replace the us I knew Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every train Is you and me and him and her, some days I think I could go insane Some days I think I could go insane Writer(s): John Richard Timothy Coxon, Ashley Wales, Benjamin Brian Thomas Watt album: "Walking Wounded" (1996)
