Leave The Engine Room, taken from the new Man Alive reissue, recorded Live To Vinyl at Metropolis Studios. This is the B Side to Schoolin’, on a exclusive 12” coloured vinyl, coming soon.
I remember watching old live versions of this song thinking man it's so hard to sing! Definitely still a challenge but after 10 ish years, Jon has improved a lot. Sounded great 🦊👍
Same, Man Alive deserves so much more recognition, pretty much a perfect record imo. Not a single track that I don’t love on it. I was so thrilled with the bonus tracks on the anniversary release
@@whimbrella Yeah everything that has came after has also been great but there is something special about the first album, it was so different from everything around at the time, indie guitars mixed with hip hop beats/synth and 80s thrown in. and the Vocal harmonizing..
I truly believe that Man Alive is one of the greatest pop rock albums in the last 20-30 years. it gave me the same first impression of sheer awe and wonder similar to how I felt when I heard Radiohead or Coldplay when I was a little boy . I couldn't believe I was hearing something so original and fun, but yet so conceptually self aware and emotional. It almost felt as if I was listening to a child of Randy Newman take on modern prog rock. Jonathan Higgs's approach to singing, delivery, and command especially on his heart pulling tunes like this remind me so much of Randy. they could have toured this one album for 7 straight years and I wouldn't have complained. that's how good it is. a 2010 album that felt current in every year that proceeded after even until this very day. a true Modern classic. I don't care what anyone says.
have always adored Jon's vocal on this song, every new recording of it (this one, the No.6 orchestra one, etc) gives us another gorgeous take, thanks so much
