Finally, after working on this project for months, it's done. Everything Great About Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is finally here! To finally have this video (and the second part) published after going through the trials and tribulations of Filmora 11 (the editing software I use) being difficult to work with feels amazing, to put it lightly. I really hope that you enjoy both this part and part 2!

In my opinion,trigger being pinned for killing harling is quite justifiable, the osean needs someone to blame in all those chaos. Additionally the people invovled in the mission are pretty much angry and frustrated that they failed this very important mission. Reasoning with them is no question since everyone is acting upon emotion. So you being acquited will hit there morale.

@@StrvB-ng8kb to be fair by this point everyone is against osea already so they could just assume osea is lying also trigger was the closest and the f 18 drone’s mission was to kill harling and make it look like another osean pilot did it so to everyone else it could definitely look as though it was trigger who shot the missile

Great review! Also, one more foreshadow that Belka was behind everything: In Mission 2, an Erusean officer complains about the instruction manual being written by some “war merchants” in an unknown language. Belka has been known to have used the German languages, particularly in some squadrons in Ace Combat 0, and that they were the pioneers behind the drone tech, particularly ZOE.

I still remember when I saw the Drag Racer intro for the first time, before the release of AC7. Played the series since AC3, but ended on Zero since I didn't had PSP or Xbox. And when I saw this intro, when Avril was taking off, familiar Keiki Kobayashi style melody slowly kicked in, she takes off and goes higher and higher, just like the music did, and It was the first time I cried by seeing a game trailer. *We're finally back in the skies.*

I'd add one more win - "444" soundtrack is perfectly synched to narration of the mission. It's not adaptive music, it's the entire music piece is written to be timed perfectly with the in mission timer along with dialogues, to change tone from crazy acoustic guitar solo, to euphoric strings at just the moment your weapons get unlocked. Same went for "Faceless Soldier" during Spare squadron making formation for the first time, and some other missions.

I didn't see it, but in the first opening cutscene, it shows a quick shot of a propeller engine. A really big one, and if I'm right, it's the EXACT same one put in the B-28 Super Fortress... or... the A-1 Skyraider. the_fat_electrician has a video on the A-1 skyraider. I feel like if they managed to get prop planes into Ace Combat, that it should be featured. The A-1 went up against MiG-17s and WON. That plane was Old Age And Treachery: The Airplane.

I switched to "expert" controls, got a Nintendo switch pro controller, and started on regular easy. I'm on my 4th playthrough on the fleet destruction mission on Hard. Trying to unlock all the planes and parts and the single player achievements before dipping into multi-player. I imagine if I can't S rank all the missions on Ace difficulty that multi-player will just be an exercise in frustration and getting my shit pushed in repeatedly by AC veterans with HOTAS and PSM everywhere. Stuff like S ranking on Ace, doing a gun run, a no damage run, a warthog run etc are all interesting and appealing. I've got an entry level HOTAS now and I'm looking into rudder pedals to go with it. Also got Project Wingman and Star Wars Squadrons. I want to fly fast and kick ass.

I liked transfer orders for the freedom to go where you wanted and kill the sam sites, usually escort missions on videogames allow you to be near the target. Oh and for me the least mission i liked was pieline destructions second half as well as going inside space elevator on mission 20.
@ThunderousFolf
@ThunderousFolf 2 года назад
In that aspect, I see what you mean. I'm also familiar with a game that has an escort mission or objective punishing you or outright giving you a mission fail if you stray too far. I still feel like it could have been done a little better, more so for the first time players. If you have the SAM site positions memorized, then it isn't as much of an issue. I'm not too fond of the sand storm in the second half of Pipeline Destruction either. I've also heard that's a common part of the campaign that has bugged a lot of people. Fun fact about the Space Elevator tunnel run, the first time I completed the campaign, I crashed a good number of times before nailing it down. I wasn't expecting the tunnel doors to be closing, so I would hastily fly to a different tunnel in an awkward angle which would cause me to crash the first few times I tried that part out. Let's just say it almost caused me to throw the controller to the ground lol

25:26 This is gonna be weird, but I need to put this comment somewhere before my mind forgets. I might be wrong, but I always had the thought that Osea High Command knew Trigger didn't off Harling to begin with, and instead reassigned him to 444 for mission 6-9 because of his experience with drones. So they made him a deal. Help with this penal unit and you still get to fly. The "court martial" was a formality. Trigger already agreed with immediate compliance; not out of fear or insistence for his innocence, but because he already knew he was innocent and just wanted to fly. He knew the way higher-ups work. The reason I thought of for that is a little far-fetched, but they may have seen his disposition (possibly a calm personality and not a raving hothead) and love in flying at the time as something to be considered. To Osean High Command, Trigger's still loyal. So they thought, "Let's use that." So they put him in the 444, knew he wouldn't talk (mainly because he doesn't talk much, but also why would he, he stays in the air), and crossed their fingers. Everyone kept calling Trigger "murderer", but I don't think Trigger was bothered. He got to fly, and that's all that mattered to him. Edit: Either that, or Osea was hit with the idiot beam again lol

@Damocles16
@Damocles16 Год назад
Oh, so Liberty and Justice are the two arsenal birds... I thought it was a directive... Since Erusia claims to be fighting to free the continent from Osea... The "Liberty" directive aims to archeive victory at all cost (including Harling's murder). "Justice" would be the paragon approach. Yeah, that's far fetched. I dunno what made me think that. However... The frontCam of the F22 would have confirmed that Trigger shot down the president indeed ! His IFF was hacked. The f18 flying past you is just a wingman who witnessed the shot. Still, Trigger must have had a bad lawyer anyway... Can a pilot manually override his IFF to lock on a friendly ?... Well Pixy managed that when he shot Cypher after the nukes. But that's far less likely than a malfunction.
@nathanstice8456
@nathanstice8456 Год назад
So did I until recently before I learned the names of both Arsenal birds. I remember thinking it was weird that they just gave a quick nod to their strategic AI deciding the fate of the war basically. I always figured when they said strategic AI decided “liberty”it meant that Erusia went the route of deciding that freedom of conquest and control of the space elevator and its resource capacities was the “smarter” decision over preventing unjust actions to preserve continental peace, that they would implement actions that may seem unjust, actions such as killing president Harding before letting OSEA get him back, like the ends justify the means. I think most of us were in the same thought line as you on our initial play through.

I wouldn't say that everyone's first Ace Combat game is their favorite. They may be able to look over some of the issues more with that game having a special place in their heart since it's the game that got them introduced to the series, but I wouldn't say it's a guaranteed occurrence for people to blindly say their first AC game is their favorite. Hype definitely had a role in the game's success given that AC7 was a new numbered title in the series in such a long time, but I think another part of it has to do with the gameplay being so smooth and the other aspects of the game like the cutscenes, music, etc., being excellently well done. Like I said in my reply to the other comment you left on this video, the game was in development hell because Project Aces really wanted to get this game right, having started over on this project multiple times before finally being satisfied with what we have now.

@@mrandrossguy9871 Ooohhh, I think I see what you're saying now. You're saying that whichever Ace Combat game is the first that really appeals to someone, even if it is not their first one they have ever played, tends to get the benefit of the doubt a lot through nostalgia? I can see what you mean since people can more easily look over some bad aspects of a title if they're particularly fond of it, but I don't think that erases anyone's ability to point out flaws if they see it. Like if someone re-visits an older game and they remember bad aspects about it, I feel that nostalgia can more so give them more patience rather than ignore those bad aspects. That person experiencing nostalgia can still look at a bad mechanic in a game and say "That mechanic is bad", but nostalgia may allow that person to have a higher level of patience or tolerance, or the player may otherwise not be bothered by something as much. That all being said, I do know that sometimes people can let nostalgia get the better of them in something like a review where they may not address a bad aspect or two about it as much for instance.

@@mrandrossguy9871 I agree with that. It stinks that the game was put into off-shore development for so long. I do wish it was considered as a main project to be worked on from the start, and that would have allowed for more resources to be distributed to that game. That being said, I'm still personally happy with what we got. And Project Aces has been doing a great job with the post launch content they've been delivering to the game. I'm curious, what about AC7 makes you say that it's as disappointing as Assault Horizon to you? A video talking about everything great about Ace Combat in general could be good! If I did a video like that though, it would follow the usual video essay format that I normally do rather than the CinemaWins parody like in this video. Like Motorsport TJ said, AC7 was in development hell. To keep it a long story short, Project Aces really wanted to get this game right since it would have high expectations being a new numbered title in so long. There were periods where they would start up the project only to start all over again because the team lost their vision with that particular version of the game, and they didn't want to continue with something they didn't have full confidence with. I recommend reading this twitter thread if you haven't done so, where this person translated Kazutoki Kono's tweets regarding the development of the game.
