The original Battlefront II is the best Republic / Empire story game ever. Following a 501st clone all the way to Hoth was just...perfect. I only wish we could have had the game go all the way to Endor...or Jakku.
The thing that really ticked me off was I remember them leaning super hard into the you get to play as an Imperial angle only to leave out the fact it’s an Imperial Defector. Other than that the game was fun when I came back to play it during the free weekend
@@sikeout2137 yeah I think Del should have been the first to defect after his interaction with Luke and then later in the story he sways Iden to defect.
Yeah I was really hoping Iden would remain diehard imperial but then I remembered it was a battlefront game. We’ll get our imperial commando game one of these days
Yeah I wish they stayed as imperials, it would be so interesting. I actually have an idea where you play as the imperials and it seems like the rebels are sort of evil and you have a friend who gets killed by the rebels and then you see them celebrating over your friends dead body
Squadrons was great, but the controls were a bit janky for me. Also, I am sort of done with the silent protagonist trope in games; give me an actual character to play

The book adds so much more characterization to Inferno Squad. Iden was already have cracking loyalties at the end of the book. It also gets more into the father daughter relationship. Spoilers ahead for the book: There was 1 other member of Inferno Squad he causes the cracking in the trust iden has for the empire
Just one thing: Lex Lang voiced Han in the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront II, but the 2017 Han was voiced by John Armstrong (who has voiced Han in games since Empire At War)
My biggest problem with the story is how fast Versio changes sides. For someone who has been serving the Empire for a long time, the naïvete on how they treat non-human species is just weird and the instantaneous switch flip is even weirder. No conflict of conscience or trying to rationalize, it is just an immediate switch to traitor.
Yeah. I wish she didn’t turn traitor. Or at least she didn’t join the rebellion. I would have hoped where she goes out on her own and don’t join any of the two sides
In my mind this is actually 2 different games. The boring at launch micro-transaction bug filled mess of a game.. and the amazing post launch shooter that was so much fun to play with friends. The story while not amazing does a decent job and would definitely like to have seen more of it.
7:20 To be fair, some NCO just ordered an Admiral/Moff to attack an enemy cruiser, even though his ship was trapped in a docking clamp and unable to fight. Granted, that character is an asshole for his next few scenes, but in this instance it is justified considering Hask *should know* that the ISD can't fight back.
Hell yeah not going to lie this game is so good I love the dueling as the hero’s and the regular characters are fun as well not to mention in the right hands you can kill the hero’s with out using another hero
The one thing that irks me about most games stories is the constant redemption angle. I'm tired of playing as Imps who see the light and defect. I want to play as a Stormtrooper commando, or an Inquisitor, or just someone who doesn't want to jump ship to the Alliance.
i enjoyed this game right off the bat, i was not concerned with the micro transactions like everyone else was, i wanted to play the story. i enjoyed all of it including the dlc that tied into the TFA. my only problem with it is ea and dice just gave up on it. but, it mostly was because of the sequel trilogy cry babies who became very pissed off that star wars isn't to their liking anymore and they harassed the devs of BF2 all the time on tweeter over how things are taking too long and so, on.
My suggestion stays the same. Spec Ops: The Line. Very interesting game, that would most likely have a lot for you to talk about. Thank you for your consideration.
Shriv deserves his own spin-off. Best character to come out of this mess of a campaign (I say campaign because for as rocky as the game itself was at launch, it did get better...the campaign still isn't great, though).
Agreed Shriv definitely needs more recognition he's the main reason why I go back and play the campaign it's also nice to have another Duro character in Star Wars that isn't Cad bane
I feel that the game abandoned the empire storyline to early. I think they should of shown some origins of Inferno Squad where they're on a mission with Vader or Boba.
I would really recommend listening to the Inferno Squadron audiobook which janina Gavankar narrates. It really expands on their relationships with in the team and with her father.
After the game rose up from microtransactions to greatness, I finally got around to playing this campaign. It was still fun since I already loved the original 2015 Dice BF as a kid so it was like reliving something bigger than I ever imagined, especially in the multiplayer modes.
One pet peeve I always have is how the word "empire" is used to refer to the "bad guys". In the case of Star Wars, the Empire is a Galaxy-spanning government. 90% of the Galaxy is part of the Empire, so if you grow up on a world like Alderaan, Corellia, or Naboo, you don't "join the Empire". You're already a citizen/subject. The wording that should have been used from the very beginning of this franchise is "military", which would really drive home the point that the Rebels are fighting against their own nation - not fighting just a bunch of stormtroopers, TIE Fighters, and star destroyers - but your own people; like fighting our own country's government and military. And attached to this idea, I recall Garrick Versio's line "the Empire is our home". As much as I am disappointed in this story, I like to think that his actual meaning when he says that line is "our home is not just one world, we have millions of other worlds we can call home". And come to think of it, if you forget about the doomsday context of the scene, and think of the line that way, "the empire is our home" sounds weirdly... nicely patriotic.
So, Predator:Concrete Jungle gaming wins when? It's a good game, even if old, and tells such a great story that it works. Plus you can unlock skins that tie into the story as well, as well as a few homages.
Can you do either transformer war for cybertron or transformers fall of cybertron. (Recommend fall of cybertron) both of these games are sooo underated
For Win number 34, there was an even earlier reveal of the 'Messenger'. If you have ever played the Tie Fighter games (which are on steam), you get missions from them. I don't remember if they had Palp's face, but I remember them giving you extra objectives for the mission you were about to do.
I often compare the marketing between this game and TLOU2. Both games are notorious for having some semblance of a lie in how they pushed what game you were going to get. Amongst the two, BF2 is the worst offender. TLOU2 I have given it a pass because the lies it tells are more, often than not, severely harmless whereas BF2 is actually harmful. In TLOU2, the game you get at launch is exactly what the marketing says it is: a dark game framed through the theme of hate about how the cycle of violence affects everyone for better or for worse. The only thing the marketing left out was who was going to die to push Ellie on the path to revenge. It's a small detail that was left out that largely doesn't ruin the narrative in any structural way. Yeah, Joel being in it was a lie, but a white lie, the same way Neil Druckmann lied about Joel being the only playable character when doing press for TLOU1. It was to preserve a spoiler that doesn't sabotage how the character gets from A to B. BF2 on the other hand, tells players with unwavering certainty that the game's story will be entirely told from the perspective of the empire. It in no way relents in hyping us up for that angle. Every piece of marketing says this. In the final game, no less than 4 missions in at Act 1, you defect from the Empire and become a Rebel for the rest of the campaign. That was an actual bold-faced lie that brought further damaged to the game's reputation at the start. That was actually harmful on their part and it killed any hype of this story being unique in any way. That being said, it's a game I still ended up enjoying, but mainly in sparse moments.
I'd happily pay to have more Star wars campaigns like this. I have massive love and respect for linier campaigns, especially as Open world games take the market now, and make things feel empty.
I’m just sad that the story is... not creative , once again the bad guys becomes the good guys, it would be nice seeing them being bad guys until the end and then realizing how the empire really is. Besides that, thanks to this game( and comics/books) we got maybe one of the most emotional scenes in the season 2 of Mando.
Every time I watch a video from this channel I'm expecting a high sub count like 1mil+ but no 173k highly underrated. Keep up the good, consistent work!
I always kinda wished Iden and Del were Rey's parents. I feel like it was hinting to that throughout the game, them being familiar with Jakku, Del's British accent, etc Feels like a letdown that she was Palpatine's blood but not Iden or Del's daughter
Bro, am I the only one who got “Final Boss Fight” vibes with The Emperor Hologram droid? Honestly, I think they REALLY missed out on that. Imagine finding your father has been killed by that droid and the droid would have “force push/pull/lighting”. It wouldn’t really be the force but the droid could have weapons/gadgets that would like like it was the force. It might of been just me, but I think that would of been a bad ass way to end the game
A quick did you know about ma'am: the difference between ma'am (ham) and ma'am (palm) isn't based on accent. Ma'am (ham) is reserved for the female monarch, after the initial "Your Majesty" whereas ma'am (palm) is used for military female superiors or civilian politeness.
People really are sheep. They hear “bad game” and just take that and run with it. This is a great game after the updates. And even with the loot boxes I maxed everything in like no time with not spending a dime. It was blown way out of proportion

The campaign for the game wasn't bad. I'm someone that vastly prefers Legends/Expanded Universe to Disney's Star Wars, but there are some gems tucked away in all the debris that I can appreciate. I just wish we had a game where we played as an Imperial to truly see their side from start to finish as opposed to another defector (though those stories are fun too). That's why I loved the original Battlefront 1 and 2 campaigns because the second especially has you play as a clone in the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire and hearing those journal entries is nothing short of spectacular. They really drive you into the mindset of a clone going through those events.
Actually really enjoy this game a bit more than the first Battlefront game. I just wish they had more playable characters from the prequels, uneven love a force ghost character outfits. Also old Obi Wan Kenobi. I also wish there was actually hero version of Iden when not playing the campaign
I’d really like to request a review on Assassins Creed: Odyssey. I think there’s a lot from the game to unpack from the main story about fixing a broken family, understanding trauma, and finding one’s place in the world. Also the game so beautiful. Also even though given the choice between two protagonists, the female one is the canon protagonist and by personal opinion of seeing both characters played, the female lead made the experience more enjoyable with her voice acting. Even if it doesn’t get reviewed on this channel I really implore people to just give it a try, it was just turn after turn with the game also the beautiful banter and quips available makes it so nice to just get a laugh out it even when the game is in hard times. Thanks to those who read this, and have an amazing day you beautiful, lovely person ☺️💕
So my honest opinion of the campaign when I first played it was that it was a neat but forgettable adventure. It wasn’t anything over the top or special. But it was at least entertaining for a little while
As much as I dislike how they didn't commit to us playing as the bad guys, I would have been fine with this story if they built up Operation Cinder more and it came later in the game. Operation Cinder is has been so wasted; a galaxy wide tragedy that forces everyone to reevaluate their allegiances, is it even worth fighting anymore? In recent years Disney have begun a renaissance of Order 66 content, showing where people were when it happened; showing just how far reaching the tragedy was...Operation Cinder really needs similar treatment.
There is something good about this game?? Is what I would say if I was ignorant about the comeback this game had! (Even though to me, the campaign is blander then sandpaper, I am happy that someone enjoys it.)
Since you seem to be on a Star Wars game win marathon I think it’s only fair that the KOTOR games should be next. Be interesting if you could find a way to give a win to the combat system
I wasn't a big fan of the campaign for it's short length and rushed feel, Iden turns to the rebellion less than an hour in (after all the marketing really pushed the Imperial story angle) and it felt undeserved at that early point in the plot. The set pieces were pretty awesome though. It is a shame Shriv never got added as a hero in the MP, however saying that I mostly ignored the MP until they added in the against Bots & Co-Op modes and wish they'd taken those a little further.
If you ever do one of the Stalker games, including Stalker Anomaly, it'd be interesting to see what you'd win in a game where story is either slow and takes a lot of time to do or simply non existent, much less a game that literally does not care about the player (you'll know what i mean if you play it)
