you missed a win: when bridget starts crying instead of having a "oh no baby don't cry" they say "just let it out, cry it out", because honnestly Crying is an emotional relese valve, it is actually kind of amazing how much better you can feel after having a good cry. so yeah, emotional regulation win.

Shame no one commented, and honestly, I agree. Tired of people always saying don't cry, even when there's a perfectly good and justifiable reason to cry. Besides, when has ever saying "don't cry" actually made someone stop crying?

I believe the message in Trolls is mostly about ACTUAL real life trolls. About how some people try and find their happiness by taking it from others. Hurting them. Insulting them. Scaring them. The message is that real happiness doesn't cone from trying to steal it from other people. It's something you need to make for yourself by making other people happy.

The only thing I'm kinda down on the movie for is the whole. "Singing killed my grandma" bit. But only because leading up to it I had a theory that the reason Branch was so down was because he got left behind when the Trolls escaped the Bergen's town. In my mind, everything was leading up to that. The way Branch was the only one who warned about making too much noise and attracting the Bergens, the way he seemed to be the only one with the survival skills to make it on his own (especially if he was a child when they escaped, only a year or so older than Poppy, having to learn all that the hard way), the way he seemed to resent the trolls and their way of life, how much the King emphasized 'No troll left behind', I thought it was going to lead to some grand reveal that Branch was left behind as a child, forced to hide in the tunnels until the Bergens gave up the search, make his way back up out of them and survive the Wilds long enough to catch up to the rest of the trolls, maybe taking years and becoming hardened and jaded, only to arrive and find them partying like nothing ever happened, having not even noticed he was gone. I was just fully convinced that would be the twist, the reason Branch was so cynical and seemingly against everything the trolls stood for, up until the moment Branch yelled that singing killed his grandma, so I was like "Wait, what? Really?" Other than that though, it's a fine movie. I like to have fun and it was fun.

I really respect Zooey for this one. One thing that has always bugged me about most animated mainstream movies is how they always cast super famous people to just play themselves. They literally cast a celebrity just for the voice of that celebrity and not because they fit the role or because they can voice act. They never "do a voice" or change their voice at all to dit the character or world, they rarely if ever even change their normal personality or typecast and it is always completely obvious from the moment you hear them exactly who it is. (and that's what the studios want. They want you to go "Oh, wow! That's Justin Timberlake!" Or "Hey look, it's Liam Neeson playing a silly guy with two faces!") Hollywood has looked down on animation and especially voice actors for a long time and it's a shame. Point is, I really respect Zooey for having fun and changing her voice to fit the world and character and making herself almost completely unrecognizable for the story. It's one of many reasons I love her. When I heard that character speak I had one thing on my mind; "Who's that girl?".

Can we just stop to appreciate something for a second. the fact that his love for her still wasn't the cause of her happiness being restored. Just simply the care he showed for her coupled with the idea that things may not be quite so hopeless was what did that for her. His love was an unexpected bonus and not the thing that drove this turn around and I just think that needs to be appreciated more because soooo many movies end up turning around BECAUSE of a confession of love instead of the turn around being inspired by actual realization or inward reflection with the help from another. edit: ok.. soo.. I posted this comment before I finished watching to the end. I, soon, found out that an extremely similar point is made using Bridgette and King Gristle as an example. so. yay lol xD

My favourite little detail is the fact that Branch’s ears are slightly pointed (whilst the other trolls are round and perky) and Bridget’s are slightly more rounded (the points are not as harsh) that the rest of the burgans . Along wide the colours (Branch having a darker shades and Bridget having bright hair and wearing lighter but brighter shades compared to the others) it’s a good way of saying these two are different to the others. Looking at it as well the colour thing could be used for Grisle as well. He has bright green hair and wears bright clothing

Also: in World Tour, I really doubt the villain has more of an angsty backstory than Poppy. Can't get much better than your father is the leader of a revolution and for generations your people were eaten alive, and you had to rescue kidnapped close friends and were betrayed by your love interest, only to overcome your obstacles through pure stubbornness and ingenuity. I got a bit off track, but the point/s stands.

I think a lot of the hate for this movie comes from the fact that it's clearly a kids movie that is solely focused on entertaining the kids with only one or two jokes for the parents/adults if that. It's not really something that happens a whole lot anymore so when it does, it gets more hate than it really deserves since people expect movies to entertain both kids and adults. Especially considering this is a Dreamworks creation which tends to make movies with predictable plots but also equally entertains adults as well as kids. Or you can take my approach and think that the movie Trolls is jus trolling everyone.

People hate it because it's not up to Dreamwork's standards.
@mr.outlaw231
@mr.outlaw231 6 лет назад
People hate it because the music is bad (in opinion), the characters are annoying (in opinion), and the bloody message is downright horrible as it implies "Oh there is a bright side to everything, so you should be happy." It gives off the impression that everything will turn out right in the end, which of course, in reality, is a rare occurrence. In a world of problems, happiness doesn't give people motivation to solve them. Instead, it is fear, sadness, rage, and other such "negative emotions" that bring people together in order to solve said problems. People who just want to be happy all the time become complacent when they reach certain conditions that they think will give them the most happiness, not taking the time to prepare themselves for assaults on said happiness. Positions of happiness is like positions of power: if you don't do things to make sure you keep it, you will lose it. And that is the reason why I personally hate the movie. Honestly, if you wish not to go through my blob of text, simply note I'm a pessimist. I'm pretty sure you can guess my complaints from there.

We see that throughout this very movie, the trolls are teaching us about being like everyone else. If everybody is happy, you have to be happy to. That is like, if everyone wears Levi's, you have to wear Levi's too. Oh, and shouldn't I mention how much of a freaking ass Poppy is to Branch? Always forcing him to sing. Because everyone else does it. And why can't Branch find happiness by doing something he enjoys that is not singing and dancing? Here is the real moral of the story: Be just like everyone else. If you don't, you are an outcast!

I agree that this movie gets too much hate for all of the positivity it's giving out. I personally thought this movie was a charming fresh breath of air and it deserves more recognition.

I'm 17 years old and I fucking love this movie when I was down at my aunt's house her youngest daughter at that time made my sister, my mom and I watch Moana and trolls back to back....and I don't know if I love her or hate her for that because now both of those movie's have become some of my favorite movies to watch when I need to relax but I also hate it because the amount of times I catch myself singing along to the songs in these movies makes me want to bang my head of a desk in a futile attempt to get the songs out of my bloody head lmao

I loved this movie. It has a solid plot. Great characters. Even greater music! It was a simple musical movie and the simplicity of it is what sold me! When I first whent into the theater I was so apprehensive of it being a big ol' dud, and let that cloud my judgement during the first ten minutes, in which I was ready to leave. But my sister stopped me and said she liked it a lot and it made me sit down and actually look at what I was watching. And then I loved it!

There's something I will always treasure about CinemaWins that no other channel can give me: it's the ability to look at a movie I don't like, to let me see in a new light and say 'hey, that's okay' because it emphasises the work and how good something is in a way that's no trying to convince you. People are stubborn: they'll refuse to listen to your argument if you're trying to convince them, but things like this...even if they were trying to convince you it's good, it's subtle, and people can see it in a new way without him having to go 'this is why it's good, like it'. I know he says 'that's what makes this movie so good' a bit, but, to me, at least, it just blends so well into the sentence and it just...works.

Not the best movie ever, but I still THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. As an 80s kid with a huge troll collection (most of which I still have in a box in my basement somewhere... STORY TIME BECAUSE I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY: I was working at my local movie theater when this movie came out. On one hand, I hated it because of the mess children made, but come on I couldn't stay angry for too long, gotta let kids be kids! On to the other hand, I loved cleaning the theaters during this movie's credits. No matter what mood I was potentially in, it was all blurred out by the overall feel-good vibe the movie gives out. Cleaned after this movie so many times I had a lil dance routine while cleaning! It ain't work if you have fun is how I always saw it. Got walked in on a couple times, whether it be a coworker or a guest and I ALWAYS without fail owned it! I realize this had no structure to it but I felt a wave of nostalgia (even though it wasn't that long ago lol) and wanted to share it :) If you made it this far, hi! Why does everybody hate this movie? It's beautiful. The animation was well done, the colors were bright and appropriate for the mood. The characters personalities and motivations were realistic and far from one dimensional. The fact that they were in actual danger (they were going to be EATEN, for goodness sake!) Proves that it wasn't just some Caillou or Dora the Explorer situations. There is at least one joke for everyone. I swear, if you didn't at least chuckle under your breath or even smile well... You sir/madame, have no sense of humor! The character progression seemed natural and relatable. It was creative and provided me with a roller coaster of emotions. Joy( words cannot express how much I loved the songs, the interactions of Branch's and Poppy's personalities, the jokes still make me laugh, etc.) Pity and sadness( Branch blamed himself for TWENTY YEARS of his life for the death of the only family he had left, can you imagine the guilt that would put on a six year old? Then there was the scene when they were all thrown in the pot. Poppy, the most positive and hopeful troll of all, gave up, and lost all hope.) I just don't understand how everyone could hate this so much. Why? Was it because of the colors? Was it the scenario, the characters, the songs? Was it just because it was for kids? Would it have satisfied you if one of the main characters died, hence turing it into one if those tragedy's instead of the heartwarming happy ending we got? What would have made this movie better? I personally would put this on my top ten favorite movies of all time.

Me,too! The movie have too many potential to be good but see people keeps complaints is tired my heart out. I can see the negative mostly coming from the same comments with "too simple/ predictable story", " characters are bland" ( but they didn't even care at the unique design of the characters) "my kids/friends force me to watch with/ force me to hear the songs" ," they ruined the original best song" ( honestly, they made the original songs is better for me) "the jokes are cringe worthy" ( for me, the jokes mainly for kids but the classic animation make its so entertaiment to look at). These negative opinions are too one side for me. They sure looks at this movie in simple way but there are more. Honestly, as an artist designer, i adore every looks on this movie and is the one that have a different environment/ lighting to look at. Trolls have characters that being over positive and negative but they figure their own flaw and manage at the end. ( which a litte rushed but there is a chance to expand story for more explainations) For the design, the bergens/ trolls and the world they live in have their own unique/fun design to look at. Its more far creative than other Disney movie with the same, boring style with the same old family trope. Some people keep compare other kid movie with Trolls but this one is harmless and its suppose to be fun, not to let your brain being logical all the time. Some people need some fun in their life, they seem to scrutiny in a kid movie and expecting to be perfect for their adult taste.

I actually like the movie I’m 20 years old and I I find myself watching at least a couple of times just to rewatch it because I just liked it so much and I’ve seen a couple of scenes like I don’t how many times I enjoy this movie it’s not the best move I’ve ever seen and it wasn’t trying to be it was just supposed to be entertaining it wasn’t trying to do something grand or amazing but it really did have some good continuity at the beginning of the movie we saw that branch might’ve liked Poppy because he kept all of her invitations as well as being able to fix an invitation that he himself broke on his own time meaning that he at least appreciated what puppy had given him secondly that was also the thing when he was talking about what to say to king gristle and he just repeated what he wanted to say to poppy as he looked at her and it showed multiple times that he went to go make sure she was OK he worried about her he was willing to let her into his bunker and not let anyone else and when you realize that she’s probably one of the only few people that actually know about the bunker or at least know where it’s located and how to get into it shows that he never tried making sure Poppy didn’t nobody made sure everyone else didn’t or she might’ve just followed him when she was younger and other times I really like the movie it was a fun entertaining movie and it succeeded in that I liked the songs I adore poppy and branch in the other characters it made me laugh quite a bit it wasn’t a standout movie by any means it wasn’t trying to be it was just trying to be entertaining and fun something that a kid would like to watch and anyone who likes this kind of stuff would like them sorry for this long rant and if you read all this here have a cookie 🍪 thank you
