In this video I discuss my likes and dislikes about the 2023 Chevy Silverado LT 2.7L Turbo 4 Cylinder. I have driven just over 400 miles in this truck and so far, I have been very impressed with the performance. The engine is very powerful and provides plenty of power for all situations. I do have some dislikes about the truck which may or may not be a dealbreaker for some people. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

I used the buttons on the back of the wheel but I liked using the volume knob because I felt the response was a little slow for the volume button. The seek button was very nice to skip tracks.

A lot of people complained about the 2.7 turbo four when it first came out saying they wouldn't own it. I don't think they could wrap their heads around a big turbo four in a full sized truck. Like you said though, its fine for the vast majority of duties that the average owner would put it through. It doesn't have as high a towing capacity, but most people rarely tow with their trucks - and it still can tow a respectable amount. Plus GM gives you a $1,500 credit for the four and not optioning the V8 saves another $1,600. $3,100 saved is substantial.
@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Год назад
I totally agree. I understand the concern when the 2.7 was initially released with far less torque but the HO version is plenty powerful enough for 95% of duties if not more. The 9,000 lbs towing is a solid amount for most owners who maybe only occasionally tow at best. I would like to drive the 5.3 for a few days or more to get a feel for it too but I can't imagine it would change my opinion too much. Thanks for the comment!

It's also about lifespan. Some of us want a truck that can bury 200K miles without having to replace the engine and tranny. Too many people only think about how well they run until they trade them in after 3 years.

My deal breakers are having a bench seat. The point for getting a full size rather than other vehicles is that center console width, by having storage to put stuffs like snacks, phone, coffee, and wife items. I agree with you. the only thing are those ugly, and 90's early 2k gray wheels. I'll put some flat black ones with 35s.

Hello. I just bought this truck (Silverado 1500 LT 2FL Turbomax, 4x4) about 4 weeks ago, this car is beautiful, good, strong engine. I want to buy an RV but I don't know if this vehicle can tow an RV or not? If so, what is the maximum weight of an RV? My Truck: Brand new 2024 Gvwr=7,000lbs. Gcwr=14,500lbs. Rgawr=38,000lbs. Maxpayload=1,966lbs. Curbweight=5,034lbs. Conventional TWR=9,000lbs. Max tongue weight=900lbs. Gooseneck TWR=8,900lbs. Max tongue weight=1,335lbs. Gawr FRT=3,800lbs. Gawr RR=3,800lbs. Tire size: FRT=RR=265/65R18 T. (rim 18x8.5J) SPA=265/70R17 S (rim 17x8J). Font=Rear=Spare=240 kPa, 35Psi. So, Can my truck (GVWR=7,000lbs) tow an RV/Trailer with a maximum load of 9,000lbs? If possible, please post more videos of the Silverado 1500 2.7l, 4-cylinder truck pulling an RV trailer. Thanks

I bought this truck two weeks ago. I don’t do any towing but the regular drive is great. Love the heated seat, steering wheel and remote start which is useful for cold areas like mid-Michigan where I live. The only complaint I have is mpg. The real number is way lower than advertised. @@CarsMadeSimple side by side comparisons of similar models. Like for instance I'm trying to decide between the new canyon and Colorado. I'm also trying to figure out if I want full size or mid size lol. I'm also trying to work out if the new 4 cylinder turbo is sufficient enough in a full size truck or not. You're videos have helped a lot. Now if you can just come out with a video on how to fix indecisiveness that would be great lol
@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Год назад
Cool. Yeah those always take more time to create but I believe they are the most helpful of videos especially those within the more common trims. I will definitely have Colorado -> Silverado comparisons to make once I am able. I'm glad I got to spend so much time with a new Silverado with the 2.7 because it should make the videos that much better. I enjoy mid size for the easier maneuvering and slightly better driving dynamics. Regardless, the 2.7 is enough engine to power the full size trucks by far. The only downfall might be MPG. I wouldn't say it's a huge deal but something to consider. The real world difference between Silverado and Colorado MPG could be somewhat significant. We will see!

They need to swap the transmissions with the 3.0 diesel. Give the 2.7 the 10-speed and the 3.0 the 8-speed. The exhaust brakes love high rpm’s and the less gears makes it easier to hit that threshold for exhaust braking and getting the high temps for regen burn off.
@CarsMadeSimple

A quick question for the heated seats, when you remote start your truck do the heated seats automatically come on? Depending on outdoor temperature? How does that work? Also what is the warranty on the 2.7L? Another video I watched said it was lifetime but that could have been that particular dealer.
@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Год назад
Yes, if you have it enabled (I believe it comes on by default) the heated seats and steering wheel will come on below a certain temperature with remote start. I have a feeling this is in the 40 degree range but I am not 100% sure. The manufacturer warranty for the 2.7L is the same as the other gas engine options which is 3 years or 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5 years or 60,000 miles powertrain among a few other warranties as well. www.chevrolet.com/owners/warranty

Mpg should get better as it breaks in, also this truck is thirsty in colder temps. If you idle quite a bit you mpg will be deceiving. Drive it like a diesel meaning let the low rpm torque do the work winding this engine out to higher rpm is a waste of gas unless you are pulling something heaving or racing loL

Just bought a 2022 GMC with the 2.7. It has 22 inch Denali tires and wheels .So far getting 17.5 mpg city which is about 2.5 mpg better than my 5.3 GMC. 600 mile road trip with cruise at 80 mph giving me 19 mpg. One thing I really wish it had would be a turbo boost guage. To maximize mpg driving just below boost would maximize mpg but no way of knowing. I really like the engine so far. 8 speed auto does not seem to like quick starts but seem fine in everyday driving.
