This is great! It makes you think, who was the last person to write in the diary, open the cupboard etc. I'd have thought that they have secured and emptied it as soon as it was no longer needed
Morning Team!!! Got used to seeing you almost daily. Would be fun to clean up and restore the place. Notice the locks on the door is a skeleton key lock.
The place could do with a guest book. You might want any visitors to know a video has been filmed in case of vandalism. Hope you left a card. You might even leave a QR link to this video now that it is posted. And a message that says this site is visited every six months to keep the weed growers out.
It looks fantastic in there. I reckon that it was being used as the ultimate shed, after it was decommissioned, by someone who wanted somewhere nice and quiet in which to study, and that's the perfect spot, especially if the electric is still connected. I'd like one, I can tell you that. And nice to see the Home Office toilet roll - it was still in use when I worked for the Tax Office (that was a poxy job).
fantastic condition! and those beds are the same as the ROC post i went to not too long ago though the one i went to had the bed frames.. though i will have to make a return trip there soon i feel to check how its doing. very interesting ROC post i imagine because of how it is someone is trying to look after it hopefully. awesome video Ian and Chris :)
My local police station in hereford had a cold war bunker underneath it. I worked in there as apprentices electrician around 1986. It had a lot of old communication equipment and a huge air raid siren.
hi chris and ian just seen your video and i spotted you picked up a manual and it had wye college on it well thats part of the university of london farming college in kent
Did I see a becks Bissile by the desk. Great video again from you guys and the place is in great condition and I hope it stays that way. From the best team around and well done.. .
Dettol today is £2.49. In the bunker 59p that in itself is a piece of history. With the evidence shown; it looks like the local farming community offered volunteer help in case of possible nuclear attack. Most of us weren't around to witness WWII but this is history in our lifetime. In 70 or so years in the future those not yet born will wonder what the purpose of these bunkers served. Those of us today won't be around by then but we have the answers. Like when IKS investigates WWII stuff today, most of those around at that time are not here anymore to give answers to the mystery we have today. IKS documents stuff so those in generations to come have the answers.
Love that one hopefully the people will do the right thing and preserve it, would be a shame for it to be destroyed or vandalised. Good vid as per lads and it’s good to be back lost my other RU-vid account so haven’t been able to comment or like the vids got a lot of catching up to do lol
Hi ian, chris and the team at iks I have visited a few roc posts and found one or two with farmung manuals and documents relating to farming. The metal object on the table that you didn't know what it was, well i have seen these before and i think it was a device/key for locking the hatch shut from inside.
Nice place always good to see original stuff relatively in its place. Was that thing you thought looked like a lamp not the original latch for the inside of the hatch aswell? I'm sure I've seen them on posts hatches before
Reference farming books. ROC exercises were boring for the most part. Plate on FSM pipe possible due to people taking the top plate of and dropping stuff down the pipe. The post was possibly a cold one with the crew trying to insulate the post. Some group controls were a bit pedantic about equipment being used so the crew would bring their own stuff.
i was in roc in bridlington , we had a radio, and a sounder ,telephone , we are mostly all still around , if you ever wanted an interview with us we are easy to find , i was also in the post under the post office in york which was our group headquarters
hiya yep send an mail to catandclaws@yahoo.co.uk the biggest secret of all which we only learnt later was that there was a backup post not far away in case we were all killed.our own post was vandalised unfortunately but there are many around here ill advise you if you want the information. keith
At Dounreay power station in North of Scotland, they had underground bunkers incase of the power station going up. myself n mi sisters got to go into one. bit longer than this one n it had bunk beds. very clean but sparce tho
Farming manuals, how interesting. The "Stay behinds" were given farming manuals with special instructions hidden in them for sabotage. Perhaps a closer examination would reveal this next time. Nice bunker! Thanks for posting.
This gives me the vibes that maybe this was just a "day use" thing. Or basically, You didn't sleep there. You only came there to work. But then had the mattresses that were like rolled up in a corner. If you had to stay the night, you could just roll one out on the floor. (Hence why they're the plastic "prison style" ones.)
Got into a lot of trouble in the early 80s when we broke into many of these in Dorset. The first one we got into had a map with the location of every ROC bunker on the south coast! They were pretty much as you see this one now plus maps on the wall, telecommunication equipment in them, lots of posters with operating procedures, a 2 bed bunk bed, brand new RAF wet weather gear and at least 2 months worth of military emergency food ration packs for 3 people.
would be great to see a bunker set out as original, painted, electrics, toilet,i know theres things you can't show, but a bunker as original as can be good, and it won't be long before somebody makes one from scratch.
There is one that has been completely restored at Lepe Country Park in Hampshire. It even has a periscope contraption to show you what it looks like inside
Enjoyable history, decent video. Only thing keeping me from subscribing is the swearing. All I ask is more professionalism.. I want my kids to live and this hobby without the filthy language thanks guys !
@@IKS-Exploration hey do you know if there are German ww2 bunkers that have not been found ? That would be incredible to find helmets, guns untouched and dry. Have you found one ? Or know of a relevant video on here 7 sorry for my slander earlier u guys really do a great job and if desired I will delete the comment ty
