Something that really impressed me with the update was their specific choice to improve random shipwreck and quest in a bottle quests. That's just a great idea all around, making it so you're still rewarded for exploration while also allowing for ease of access at the same time.
They didnt improve them... theyre just putting a carrot on a stick to get you to do the things you didnt want to do in the first place. There are certain activities in this game that I, for one, wouldn't waste my time doing for any amount of gold. Merchants shipments, for example. They could pay 50k for every snake in a cage you turn in and I STILL wouldn't waste my time doing such boring voyages
@@ebrules so what was stopping you before? Bottles are literally just random voyages… soooo I’m not sure what there is to do there that wasn’t already available. And shipwrecks were always worth checking since they can spawn fish. So I repeat, nothing was improved, only incentivized. RARE seems to think making everything worth it in gold is going to change anything, but what good is the gold when most people that have been playing this game for a decent amount of time, have already bought everything they want? They haven’t released new, fun adventure content since Legend of the Veil. Nothing but “QoL”, new menus to track stats and bug fixes (they pretend is seasonal content) since then.
They said in their podcast that when they had to design the new loot, they chose crystal because people associated it with expensive so if I were you I wouldn't hope so much but why not?
A random skeleton captain at Sailor's Bounty gave me a Skeleton Orders to dig something up on the island. The thing I dug up was a Gold Reaper's Bounty chest....so that was pretty different too.
Quit this for Hunt then quit HUnt for WoW SOD then quit that for WoTLK classic. Point being I am still watching Phuzzy vids. About to set my kids free on safer seas on my PC so they can have some safe fun. Just gotta get myself away from world of wifecraft for a minute, dang I need another PC bad.
Haha for sure. I built my 8 year old daughter her own pc with extra parts I've had. It's a solid rig too. She loves playing SOT with me. We only played high seas since safer was just released. She loved sinking other people lol
Dude the change to buying voyages at your ship instead of on the island is such a massive win. My friend and I would almost never do those voyages just because they were too tedious when stacking to go back and forth to different outposts. Now you can just keep getting voyages and stacking without ever touching an outpost until you want to sell
Me and my fiancee had to hop on the day before patch and knock out her 3 gilded voyages before the voyage wipe. So many people lost voyages they had been holding on to forever :(
This was very concise and informative! Excellent work and thank you! I’ve watched a lot of the official videos on this and had no idea about the emissary quest or skele captain changes
Expired voyages in the past just remain in your inventory. You can still complete them afaik. I have a fishing quest from like two years ago that's exclusive to a special event
Its cool they are making the voyages better but did they have to remove legacy voyages for players who jave them? I had voyages dating back to the dark relic voyages that I had shelved due to lack of friends wanting to play and those are just gone now? They shouldve let uskeep them for use or even just turned them into trinkets so you could put them on a wall or smth
I used to sail to marrows peak, put the shroudbreaker on for shores of gold and then buy some order of souls voyage and pick up some skulls on the way.. But it won't let me buy from any as it takes away the shroud breaker is this right?
The past couple of days I learned some things. The regular skeleton captains that you come across still have Villainous Bounty Skulls. The change is that the Skeleton Orders will give you the quest which will give you the nice loot. So far all I found from those quests are... Storage Crates... The Ashen Guardian does drop the new Skull and Drops both the quest and the Key for the Ashen Chests. Quests found in the bottle are quite lucrative and drop chests that are 3k worth. One bottle got me 3 which is 9k. To put it in perspective, that is 9 Captain chests. Also I did some math from a solo sloop perspective. Doing raids on Shrines and Sea Forts actually earn less gold than doing it regularly. They removed all the mermaid and siren gems from those events when you do a raid.
Does anyone know what happens to the ashen key stash voyages and athena thieves haven runs? are we able to get them on the quest table or have they just been removed entirely ?
i love how rare have painted this quality of life update as a season yet again, as someone waiting for a reason to come back to the game this is a big no from me. New Cosmetics and menu system are cool but some actual playable content woulda been good lol better luck next year i guess
I felt the same initially, but after some friends persuaded me to play, it really is great. We got 50k just from goofing around. Definitely give it a shot if you are even remotely interested
Bro if you’re sitting around waiting for Rare to pull their heads out their ass after 6 years, I’d say YOU might need a quality of life update. Lower you’re expectations, homie. This game clearly ain’t for you, you’d think you’d catch on to that after 6 years of waitin’ around for things to change, when they never will. 😂
This is the same reason im quitting. Seems like overall every season is just a change in the gameplay or some ui "improvements"... why the hell cant Rare get creative and put in some fun and meaningful content in the game??
@@zebdawson3687just because hes waiting for a game to improve doesnt mean hes doing anything wrong lmao. If you're still playing sea of thieves yourself then you are the one who needs a quality of life improvement bud.
@@zebdawson3687 what are you even talking about? 😂 where did you get six years from? my guy is out here just making up his own back story's for people he doesn't know in YT comments 😂 thats enough internet for today
But the real question: when you dive for a world event does it only send you to one that isn’t currently occupied, or if it does send you to one with players do the players doing the event get some kind of warning so they don’t get randomly jumped out of nowhere with no time to prepare (since the divers would pop up right next to the island out of nowhere and no amount of horizon watching would help you there)
@@PhuzzyBond ok good, phew! I’m all for PvP but the idea of a ship randomly surfacing next to me at a world event was putting me off a bit, glad they thought ahead about that
@@skylerfisher4347 not to worry! Nobody will ever be bothering you at a world event again cause everyone can just dive to their own, fresh, safe, event! And since they nerfed world event completion time so much, plus fast harpooning, plus sovereigns quick turn in... that means you can finish the event and turn it in before anyone even has time to sail your way! Hooray for the death of tucking and fort PvP! but seriously... these are terrible times for anyone that enjoys adventure world event PvP
This season has brought so many glitches. Mainly regarding hg. Its either you cant see when their mast is down or you cant anchor them or take their ammo. And please tell me if anyone else has the season nine loading screen when they first join the game.
It's gone. The commendations for it under Mercenary Voyages are no longer there, either. But there are MUCH better ways of leveling Athena now, so it's not too huge of a loss.
There is still sailing. In fact if you have loot and I think if you have storage crates aboard your ship they will dissappear from your ship and float back to the surface once you activate fast travel. And if an Island is within range of sight of your ship, sailing to the island may be just as fast or faster than fast travel. I mean the fast travel is basically a shared loading screen so your fast travel is only as fast as your crews slowest PC or Xbox. Might not even be all that fast.
@@huaht2381Incentivizing something in a game and then saying "Just don't use it" is nonsense They should be trying to make managing quests and sailing more fun but instead they are focusing on simply axing everything.
Because once you have loot on your ship, if you dive again you will lose the loot by it floating to surface so it’s really to only start your voyage and get you to your first spot
Firstly, diving has a cooldown. You can’t just dive, do a quest section, dive, do a quest section, rinse repeat. Secondly, you don’t choose WHERE you dive to, you only choose a voyage, the game chooses the server and the island. Thirdly, every time you dive you go to a new server. When that happens, all your loot gets left behind, so you’d lose out on anything you’ve collected so far. Also, you might wanna double check your sources for the information you’re getting. Who told you “we can teleport directly to the island for our quests”? “And if that’s correct…” why would that be correct? I’d stop listening to whoever told you that, my man. 🤷🏻♂️
I'm having a lot of problems loading into a server and when I do, I get stuck on 'counting your coins' when buying anything. I've had to re-start the gave 5 times
Did you mention that it has become a buggy mess? Just sold loot, got nothing. Did a dive, screen turned black. Relogged, still nothing from the loot I had sold. Ugh.
That's like banana republic economics, just raise the caps on everything, pump more gold into the world and make everything more expensive 😂 crystal loot let's go
No, players can't dive to a world event that already has players in the vicinity. But other players already on the server with you can contest, of course.
Nah, the whole point of that cap is that you can’t get pirate legend without taking the “risk” (the risk being encountering other people in a multiplayer game, VERY SCARY STUFF!).
Notice this change doesnt bring any of the old players back that left season 10 because of core issues and changes. :/ With that said, does this mean loot stacking is pointless because you can no longer speed run loot hauls by abusing EM flags-? Since after grade 5 you have to sell and lower to hop to a new event or quest to save time.
Jeez don't worry about it, I've done one like last week. It had been nerfed as fuck. Your 3 athena chests were long gone the quest only looted a few athena treasures all quest long. Pain in the ass to retrieve everything on board. Absolutely 100% not worth the time spent
@@arelomat8973 the last crew mate was only 4 ranks away before reaching legend. So yea. I figured that’s what was gonna happen this update and I just hope it comes back as a Time-Limited Voyage you can grind during the WinterHolidays. Here’s to Hoping *Raises Tankard*
I dislike the fact that we can't stick emissary quests I would stack emissary quests then go around looking for people to attack me so that I could have a natural pvp experience I guess stacking any loot is pointless now
I just wish I didn't have to do the tall tales 5 goddamn times to unlock some cosmetics, I completed one of them 5 times to unlock the cannons, I couldn't play the game for 3 days after that
Why would you think that? Like, where did you come up with that idea? The devs explained exactly how it works in the Deep Dive. They even specifically said that you can emerge on another crew doing a voyage or event and to keep a weather eye out for it. 🤷🏻♂️
I'm sad there's no new costume for reapers when they get to 100 and literally all other company have one, I've been begging for another reaper skin for ages, that's my only dissapointment, everything else got me excited
Is it just me or did they take out the main POINT of the game by putting in fast travel? And isn’t it now just super-easy to gank people doing world events by having someone watch another crew until they’re nearly done and then having your ship fast travel to them, thereby giving them basically no way to avoid an ambush? This seems a hard negative change
best part of season 11 is that we will finally have a new series of videos from my favorite sea of thieves creators. Nothing gets the blood pumping again like a large update.
This is no longer SOT for me; I wish we actually got any new content, not just a "rework" to get new players, I hope for a new season where they bring newer content, enemies, tall tales, events...
Okay, well... I'm kinda scared of the world event diving. I do NOT want to have to fight off ass holes that keep coming to the world event to attack after being sunk 2+ times
if you can't finish a world event that spawns you at a very safe distance and be outta there long before anyone on the server notices... then yeah I guess I'd be scared too. I can't imagine anyone wasting time contesting a world event, when they can just dive to their own and be done sooner than sailing to yours and fighting over, what may be, faction loot they aren't even working toward. I do think, given that we've had the tech for a while in game, that if you sink a ship, they should be forced out of the server when they die and respawn. Especially with this new ability to just dive straight back into something anyways.
Was gonna say yeh...nothing really changed, its obvious their structure doesnt allow them to make ACTUAL changes and new additions besides cosmetics and npcs...
