George was master of putting our common day-by-day struggles and feelings into words as only great poets are able to do it. It’s still more astonishing that he wrote this when he was only an adolescent, with so little love life experiences. As he became more mature in career, these other versions of this song reflect the progression of his knowlege and talent. And how he had fun revisting his own job, together with artists that cooperated with him enormously for longtime. In 2006 George released a song called Understand. He said the song was written as a follow-up to ETSW. In other words listen carefully to the words from Understand and It will then reveal the rest of the story and what happened with this relationship. The songs are a little over 20 years apart but It does have an ending to the story of that relationship. You must listen.
This might be my favorite Wham! song. I knew the video was going to throw you off, if for no other reason, because they used the remix rather than the album version. Like others have commented, I prefer the remix too because of the additional lyrics. One thing that always cracks me up about the video is watching George and Andrew spinning around on stage. I almost get dizzy just from watching them, lol. Great reaction!
George was very proud of this song, unlike most of the songs he did in Wham, calling this his favorite Wham song. He continued to preform this live in concert before his death.
