Here's some tips to improve for your next try at this mod or in general when you play hoi: 1. You MUST use frontlines, not only does it let you keep a cohesive line but when you draw up plans you get planning bonuses, which benefit you both on the defensive and offensive. Use shift-click on a field marshal to disregard maintaining individual armies together and rather it'll consider them all under one frontline, not using shift-click can mess up your frontlines when the AI decides to randomly shift armies across the front leaving large gaps. 2. Don't right click with a lot of units, generally when you micro you want to manage the divisions of one province to attack into another. It gives you the potential for encirclements, lets you take more ground with less losses, and prevents you from being encircled. Slow down the game to get more micro in, you had it on 4 speed for most of the game which isn't bad, but in this scenaria didn't benefit you. 3. Separate your tanks into separate armies and use generals with tank traits to laucnh counterattacks with, they're going to be generally in hoi4 your primary offensive force. 4. Be wary of templates, they are after No Step Back very important to winning or losing battles: generally you want 21 width for defense and around 32 width for offensive, you can click on provinces to see the combat widths of each province based on terrain and other such factors. 5. SUPPLY! Supply is very important in hoi and the red icon beside a divisions generally means those divisions are going to be underequipped and unorganized meaning you lose battles, but you also take lots of attrition meaning you lose a lot more equipment than you normally do. To solve this you either have to abandon areas with poor supplies, or build up railways/supply hubs to get stronger supply. Hope this helps!
Hey bro I just wanted to say I absolutely love your videos im suprised you don't have at least 100k+ subscribers you give of those vibes, the editing is really well done, background music isn't too loud, you focus on the right things for a good amount of time without losing viewer attention. Really well done man can't wait to see you grow.
You should have narrated the video instead of traveling back in-time and recording Soviet marshals throughout the war, would’ve been easier 😅 But yeah bro, this was the first video of yours I’ve seen (suggested to me) and I enjoyed your more casual, laid-back albeit constant narration. I appreciate the constant chatter because it allows me to ‘hear’ your train of thought and compare it to my own. Happy to be a subscriber Cheers man
the way you defeated those germans was bananas. as someone who has too many hours on this game I want to give you few tips 1. make a separate army for tanks/mech (for soviets the best general would be zukov and for germans erwin etc etc.) 2. don't overstack your generals with too many units if you do they get debuffed to oblivion, each general can only take 24 and if they have skilled staffer skill 30 divisions. 3. you could also assign airforces to the generals or entire army groups and mechanize their supply, speaking of which 4. supply IS EVERYTHING in this game! without supply you are cooked, you need to upgrade the railways to ensure proper amount of supply is being distributed (upgrading infastructure in the state also helps) and also mechanizing the supply will also help the supply problems but only do that if you have air superiority or anti air because if you don't your trucks will get shredded from logistics bombings, also if you use logistics strike you basically win the game against AI that's why so many people go for air instead of tanks, but hey at the end of the day all that matters is that people have fun. 5. Don’t trust battle plans, battle plans basically eat up your entire supply of infantry equipments and other things, micro before using battle plans 6. While microing you should use a tactic called “reinforcement memeing” basically you don’t give a break to the unit you are attacking and you keep cycling units you attack with. 7. Make different divisions for different thing like for mountains mountaineers and for forest tiles (which most of europe is) infantry that can attack there easily, there is no “perfect” width
It honestly isnt that hard. If you take kalinin at the start and build railways to astrakhan and kalinin you basically won already. just the first six months are kinda hard to hold. also go zhukov doctrine and switch all your divisions to 21 width
@@Jimarkus btw as someone already said don't surpass the limits of generals as it makes their buffs less effective, and builing an airforce is a good idea, specially cas as it helps your army a lot. Logistics companies are pretty good, specially on your situation where you have a LOT of supplies issues
You should hold Shift while making Field Marshal Frontlines. It will make a kind of Frontline where it does not matter where which Army is. When you dont hold Shift you will have a Frontline where the AI splits it in your Armies. You will have less Gaps and your Troops will be in better Positions. But Anyways great Vid. Youre way to Underrated Your Template at 21:46 is actually pretty Decent. It has a good Speed of 8 , AA , AT and Supply , the Engineers are also well needed in this Template as it reduces River Crossing Penalty and makes the Speed better in decent Terrains but mainly it makes you Entrentch what is good to hold Counterattacks after Enciclements. The Hard Attack and Org is decent , Good Hardness. But your Soft Attack may be a little Higher and it lacks in Armor basicly support AT will pierce your Tanks. The Combat With also is a Problem. Try making it 35 since AAT. Your AF probably also got Sucked bc of the Low Detection and the low Mission efficiency. Try putting your Planes as close to the Front as possible and maybe even building a couple Airfields. But also make sure to increase Supply when there is no as Planes also need Suply probably the main Reason why your Planes had such a bad efficiency. To increase Detection just build Radars they have a great Range so. It may also be of your Plane Template. For Fighters the best is the best Engine , Self Sealing and as many Armor Plates and Heavy MGs as you just can. Building lvl 1-3 Static AA isnt to that bad as they kill a pretty good amount of CAS and Bombers for not being that Expensive. I also saw that you arent Pinning enemy Divisions. When you was about to Encicle Moscow in the 23rd Minute divions from Moscow Retreated to Reinforce the Tile you wanted to make your Encirlement with so basicly when you see that they want to Reinforce the Tile attack the Tile so they wont be able to Retreat their Divisions.
Gonna try this mod myself but what I would do is actually deleting crap divisions to consolidate, and then focus hard on trucks and support equipment to put logistics company in your tank divisions and then your main inf
cool video! for your tank division i suggest making a 30width whit around 30 organization because arms against tyranny changed the combat width, and i would replace anti tank supp. company whit engineers so when you get an encirclement you get a part of the equipment. i would also change the shovel (don't remember the name) whit flame tanks, also i recommend watching the amount of piercing and armor, because ai always upgrades it every year, like japan in 1945 as 20 armor while germany 80 roughly, now i don't know if this mod changes that, but try to build always tanks whit at least 30 piercing and 25/30 armor from 1936 to late 1939 and upgrade that to about 60 armor and 70 roughly piercing for 1941-1943 p.s. i'm not an english speaker as i'm italian so i hope i didnt make many mistakes writing and also, i tried to help from my 800hours of experience but i could have got something wrong as well. hope you understand by the way love your vids, bye! Edit: by the way this tank div is already really good, i just added some tips that make it perfect at 99.9%. Edit 2 : also focus more on soft attack and breaktrough for single player, hard attack really does't matter that much because ai really doesn't make good tank div. so focus more on soft attack!
FDR was going bananas with those Lend-Leases. I guess he realized that well since his Army is in tatters after a failed Operation Torch he just decided that the Soviets need the weapons more since a landing in France or Italy wasnt possible yet
Okay big tip, towards the end of the game after you took back Kiev and whatnot, you should have just Battleplanned your way into Germany, as micro-ing would take both too long and not enough land when the Germans were already stretched so thin at that point that they could barely even keep a frontline
I have a rt56 save where they pushed me all the way back to Kazan. tried to do a heavy tank div only run [I suck at making tank divisions[ and Finland declared war on me when Germany did. I don't think I'm skilled enough at hoi4 to salvage it lol.
not really cuz it is better to leave baku front because turkey is also attacking and you can't hold it so much that it is better to delete and save the armor units and withdraw for shorter defensive line
The one good thing the Germans have terrible supply Meanwhile, we ran out of supply six months ago. We’ve been fighting the Germans with bow and arrows and empty tanks with no ammunition
Some plot holes for this scenario: - fall of both Leningrad and Stalingrad should mean massive demoralizing of Red Army and country, shakening the power of commies; - losing Moscow wouls most probably end career of Stalin, as commie elites (like Beria and Malenkov) wouls take their chances in overthrowing the losing leader during chaotic evacuation from the fallen capital; - losing almost whole European part of country would cut the Soviet manpower to minimal quantity, as well as triggering national movements in Central Asia; - finally, losing railroads to Murmansk, Baku, and losing Vladivostok would mean that land lease would become an irrelevant tiny stream, probably via Central Asia only
Also, even if Germany did this well I doubt Japan would attack the USSR. They were already spread, pretty thin, going after China, and then the territories of America and Europeans and they knew this that’s why they spread out in the first place to get more resources
I managed to win in this scenario as a professional in 1945 (April), and I have 620 hours in hoi4. I even managed to somehow hold Mokswa, but I must admit that the AI often escaped from the front, so I could counter-attack...
8:12 oh boi the red army march LETS GOOOO As an American I may be legally obligated to hate communism but you gotta admit the USSR’s music goes hard lol I hate how it abruptly ends though
