I do miss THIS Johnny, where he's adventurous, is interested in learning and traveling. And that he and Drac have a genuine respect for each other and their different points of view. They shared a somber moment, but actually listened to each other. It's what's sorely missing from all the other films.

Though, I always did feel he and Mabel never quite felt right as parents so soon. And it still annoys me 3 films after the first and they never truly addressed the elephant in the room with Johnny and his mortal lifespan compared to his wife and child.

⁠@@motherplayerBelieve it or not, it’s possible for a couple to become parents so soon after their marriage. This happened with one of my older brothers and my sister-in-law after they were married. 9 months after they were engaged, they had my niece.

I never undestood the 'zing' thing of this series, like I get that you want your series to stand out, but to call falling in love has the same vibe of a kindergartener yelling "I saw Brad and Jenny holding hands" and the class going "Uhhhhhhhhhhh...". I dunno, feels a bit juvenile even for a movie aimed at kids.

Someone else has probably already said it but there's also the detail that in the first movie Drac said garlic makes his throat swell up and they threw that out in the third movie for a fart joke not a single person over the age of seven thought was funny.

Well, maybe at some point he got the idea that in order to kill a monster you need/become a monster. In Movie 3 he took control over the Kraken to kill the whole hotel staff.

He could’ve just simply used the transformation ray to turn himself into a monster and infiltrate the hotel and commit his plan of monster genocide there.
