@Mom I also saw one he missed. This movie takes place in 2020 America. The date he showed on screen was March, 2020 and this is presumably not too long after that, like in the present. Nobody is social distancing or wearing masks. Now in much of the country, people aren't doing that. But THAT'S a sin.
@@Sam_on_RU-vid Man, it was a RELIEF not seeing social distancing or masks in the movie. We have enough of that in the real world. It was like a vacation.
...as if the fact that right before this last year they made Return to Zombie Island, which had already murdered (retroactively) the coolest movie in the franchise *AND* that one sequel to the 13 Ghosts TV show didn't already drive that nail further down. To quote the great reviewer Schafrillas describing Frozen 2, "This is Scooby Doo *forever."*
oh, so the number "2020" became sentient, took a straw from your house, put it in your brain, and sucked out the energy from it deeply like some supernatural being?
Extra sins you didn't mention: 1. Animal abuse (scooby getting kidnapped with pure violence) 2. How do those characters, especially Daphne look spotless clean after fighting so much enemies??????????? A FREKING MIRACLE

Also the fact that the main characters have very cartoony, exagerated features, and huge eyes but simon cowel is so realistic. Looking at the gang and a realistic simon sitting next to eachother is soooo weird-looking.
If not having Matthew Lillard return as Shaggy wasn't sinful enough, they also had Frank Welker, the original voice of Fred, return as Scooby, but not as Fred 🤔🤔🤔
A sad story: The current voice actress for Daphne (in the cartoons not this movie) were really best friends with the Daphne V.A. before her. So when she passed away, the crew suggested that the current VA should take her role.
It also felt more like a half-assed attempt at setting up a Cinematic Universe. They crammed waaaaaaayyyy too many characters and subplots in it. Even the two live action films are 100X better than this thing.
"Who has the money to buy this kid real armor?" Well, just because it's metal doesn't make it real (as in proper functional) armor. Also, the team probably went off the fact that Fred's parents are rich in most versions of Scooby Doo, sooo... his parents. The answer is his parents, Jeremy.
But.. but there was only one scooby universe where Fred's parents were canonically rich, actually, im pretty sure there was only one scooby universe that even had his parents in it period. Other than that one movie about pirate ships. Just an observation there.
Well if it’s metal and he can fit in it and move around in it then it’s real armor, and that shit is at least $1k I should know I wanted to buy a suit of armor myself and for a grown adult it’s about $6-7k still gonna be rediculously expensive
Spotify actually lets you place individual playlists on your homescreen, so Shaggy having them on his phone isn't a sin. The real sin is having an entire page filled with playlists rather than just opening the app.
gentblue r/whooosh(maybe) Of course some of the original cast are dead. 3 of them are still alive, but that’s not the point. I’m talking about the cast that did the tv shows from the 90’s to today. Why didn’t they cast those voices?
That would be due to film & TV producers thinking we're so braindead we can't enjoy anything without a celebrity. Personally, when I hear the 'C' word I tune out. I miss the days when great voice actors did the job properly & movies didn't need to nudge, nudge, wink, wink an 'in joke' or call back to previous history. Or worse, the so-called 'Easter Eggs' they put in coz they can't write clever & funny stories anymore.
@@gentblue Not all of them. Frank Welker is still alive, and still voicing Fred in every animated appearance of his EXCEPT for this movie for some reason, despite him voicing Scooby in this one as he's done for years now. Shaggy's original voice actor, Casey Kasem, died several years ago, but most of Shaggy's animated appearances since Casey had to stop performing have been done by actors way more accurate than whoever did Shaggy in this one. Shaggy has always been my favorite of the crew, so I especially hate how bad he sounds in this movie.
This movie butchered my childhood so y’all are going to hear me rant about it 1: The replaces the nostalgic old voices with modern celebrities so the movie would get more clout 2: They TRIED making it nostalgic by throwing in random characters from the old show but instead just showed us that none of the producers even watched the TV series 3: The entire plot starts with Simon Cowl That’s it, that’s the sin 4. The plot itself doesn’t making any sense and the small minded characters make it even worse 5. They’ve sucked all the character development out of everyone single one of the mystery gang and made them product placing zombies
Don't forget how they made Fred a douchey jock asshole and they, for SOME reason, made Velma hispanic only for her to say one word in spanish ONCE and did nothing else with that ever again.
I just want to throw out that only mainly his friends call him "Shaggy," but his real name is Norville Rogers. For some reason they act like his parents named him that. Smh, that's a whole sin right there.

Bisexual Ichigo Sonic Movie also tended to feel like that, but they at least had restraint. Flossing only happened like 3 times in the movie in very different acts. This is what Scoob feels like. "That was a better death scene than Endgame!" Yep, that level of bad.
@@Cinko420 IKR? Sonic flossing, while cringy, actually wasn't that bad or forced cuz, hey, Sonic is just a kid, of course he'd pick up those things from watching humans.
Ok so, THE ENTIRE point of Mystery Inc has always been proving that supervillains claiming supernatural crap are ALWAYS full of said crap. HOWEVER, this entire movie revolves around an supernatural thing that is not only ACTUALLY supernatural but ALSO COMPLETELY NONSENSE.
I will agree that the role Cerberus had didn’t make much sense, but the gang have dealt with supernatural forces that were confirmed as supernatural, especially in the animated direct-to-video movies, and the finale of Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated. In terms of the movies, the final part of Scooby-Doo and The Samurai Sword saw the Black Samurai return and essentially become real as well as eject the person who was previously disguised as him, there was Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost, where the final part of the movie saw the ghost of Sarah Ravencroft being a real thing, and, most famously, there was Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island.
Remember when the characters of Scooby Doo had unique voices & didnt sound like "sexy" celebrities? This movie is mega cringe. It is not Scooby Doo. It's an imposter.
Andrewgamer135 Watch any Scooby Doo incarnation if you want anything good (Mystery Incorporated especially, Episode 14 was a better Scoob before Scoob!)
How did he not sin Frank Welker not voicing Fred? Especially when Welker WAS a voice actor for this film! He voices Scooby, but not Fred even though he's been Fred's voice since the very first episode back in 69.
@@mewmew34 Honestly, i don't know... whoever the casting director was clearly did not care and Frank most likely wanted to have an easy paycheck and just stick to doing Scooby.
if they focused more on a plot with the whole gang TOGETHER rather than apart with the introduction of new characters, i feel like it would've been a fresher, modern take that would make a lot more sense. also, simon cowell is not relevant anymore 😭
The plot hinges on the fact that Scooby is a descendant of Alexander the Great's dog. Then is Shaggy somehow the descendant of Alex or is that just pure chance the adopted dog has a great friendship?
@@matthewtaylor1785 Who voiced Shaggy in the show? I feel like if you want Shaggy to be voiced by Matthew Lillard you should want Fred to be voiceb by Freddie Prince Jr.
@@Ninterd2 matthew lillard is the current voice for shaggy in the shows, he replaced casey kasem when kasem threw a fit about the studios not making shaggy a vegetarian
no kidding, it's not like velma's voice is hard to do an impersonation of. And Matthew Lillard seems to be on board to do every scooby related thing forever, so not casting him is just offensive.
Everything wrong with Scoob: Literally every part of it except for the Rare Americans song. As many have said and I agree, this is isn't Scooby Doo, it's an imposter.
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 It was cliché in every way and tried too hard to fit emotional scenes in places where they didn't belong. The movie was terrible, basically just a cash grab.
Another sin was the fact that they used the same background music for the Falcon's first entrance as Flint Lockwood's entrance for the Chews and Swallows reopening
@@anthonymartinez71604 Wait, was Velma *ever into nerd culture?* Wasn't she always the smart one? Shaggy and Scooby were into stuff like comics and video games, but was Velma?

@@anthonymartinez71604 Velma has always been an intellectual, and more recent depictions of her has had her show no interest in nerd culture because she has always been the studious type. Not like having glasses meant she had to like stuff such as D&D, superheroes, etc.
*Me watching the trailer* *Shaggy puts the collar on Scooby* Scooby: "I'll never take it off." Me: "...when does he take it off?" *Me watching **17:45** of the Cinemasins video* Me: "CALLED IT!!!!"
I assume they spent 70% of their budget on getting Simon Cowell for 20 mins and then couldn't hire good writers. I had little hope in the movie. But watching it was somehow worse.
There were only two good things about this movie: 1. The nostalgic callbacks (even though I'm a casual viewer of Scooby Doo in comparison to others) 2. It was a movie I was able to bond over with my dad, even if it was via text/snyched watching since we were on the opposite sides of the US from each other
That's the best part, bonding with your father. I've got nostalgia callbacks with Scooby-Doo also. And many other things. 6:12 - this reminds me of a bowling alley I went to when I was young and how the menu there had several kinds of pizza, and which also had both mushroom and veggie like shown here. I'm not sure what's on the veggie here and how many more toppings there are than the mushroom, but the veggie I remember had mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. I remember wondering why there weren't olives too since that's usually the 4th topping on veggie pizza
Why is it so hard to do a Scooby Doo movie that's just a Scooby Doo story? Some Executive: "When people go to a Scooby Doo movie based on the Scooby Doo brand they don't want to see to see a Scooby Doo movie based on any Scooby Doo series, they want to see [some dumb idea]." What is this, Warner Bros... yeah, I know this is Warner Bros but they've been pulling this crap for 20 years now and I'm getting sick of it. I think I blame Space Jam?
IMO Warner Bros thinks that it's a business strategy to give fans the exact opposite of what they are expecting. Just look at their movies. It's like literally against any predictions fans might have. Truly astonishing.
Thank you! Scooby Doo is supposed to be home-y and not too new, and there are only a few exceptions that have actually worked for me. This is not one of them
My biggest sin is that this isn't even a Scooby-Doo story. I get the feeling WB originally made a superhero film and were afraid that it wouldn't appeal or be marketable enough, so they slapped Mystery Inc on there. If you remove all the scenes with Mystery Inc and made blue falcon and his sidekicks the central characters, the film is basically the same. Another thing that annoys me is that they didn't understand the heart of Scooby-Doo or what made the original cartoon so fun and special. There's literally no excuse when 2 live action films from 18 years ago understood this.
I’m pretty sure the Simon Cowell cameo was intentionally outdated. The Scooby Doo show was known to have guest stars that were extremely dated and kids would hardly recognize.
That was only the hour-long show, and I definitely knew who Batman, Robin, Joker and Penguin were. In fact, I knew who the Three Stooges were. I'm fairly certain I recognized the other guest stars too.
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 I agree that it was good, but having scooby doo be related to some ancient dog is really dumb and a bad plot, but they HAD to make one because they know that because it’s a scooby doo movie they would get a lot of money
Velma: "How could he have time to judge the world's greatest talent shows and build a giant airship?" Me: "How could he have time to judge the world's greatest talent shows and voice a character on a Scooby-Doo movie?" Two can play that game!
@@vee4849 do you like movies being more predictable? This movie was great anyways and personally if it was like the tv show it would’ve sucked in my opinion because it’s the same all over again not that there’s anything wrong with the original cartoons but it feels fresh instead of another mystery
In my time in Law Enforcement, the term “Blue Falcon” was used to describe a Deputy who screws over another Deputy. It was used instead of Buddy Fuc*er
@Yowatsapp 05 I remember Dyna-Mutt and the Blue Falcon sharing a show on ABC with the Great Grape Ape in the '70s (along with Muttly as a Columbo-type detective with Kojak as his commanding officer).
Doctor Odin To be fair, they've been doing that same formula since Where Are You. (They even took it a step further and created dozens of unsuccessful shows based on Scooby Doo.) Every (main) incarnation is the same thing. Mystery becomes apparent, Gang goes down to solve it, they find out the culprit, they trap the monster, explain why it happened, and ending. Even Mystery Incorporated is the same, the difference there is that there's conflict and an underlying story.
Cinko515 It’s a timeless formula but only works with sincere effort put into it. The movies lately they’ve screwed it up. The 13th ghost movie connecting it to Mysteries Inc. and make it non-supernatural was a misstep along with zombie Island two. The thing with the movies that started what’s new Scooby Doo is the fact that it was an extreme rarity that they came across actual supernatural events and it showed them after high school is why people liked it. Them having an underlying plots nothing new. A lot of the other Spin off series had it too

They are smart tho cause what you do is raise the price of a normal hotdog to match the chili dogs and so 1. You’ll get people who don’t wanna pass up what they assume is a good deal 2. The few people that just want a plain hot dog with regular condiments have to pay more 🤷🏾♂️
The fact that you mention Ruth bader ginsburg more then once in this video and she passed yesterday, scary synchronistic, cause i had no idea who she was before she passed
I really had one major problem with this movie, it never took a breather! Seriously, I would need to watch it a second time to understand what was happening, but disappointed me enough to not do so.
This, honestly, feels like the kind of film Hanna-Barbera would’ve made if they were still around today. Think about it, paper-thin plots, cheap looking animation, weird character designs, constant attempts to chase popular trends, and cameos from celebrities that haven’t been relevant for, at least, a decade. These are all tropes associated with Hanna-Barbera, which makes this film a pretty faithful adaptation. I could’ve done without all the Warner Bros. references, though (and I’m kinda surprised you didn’t give the use of the AT&T jingle on the Falcon Fury a sin).
I disagree. Hanna-Barbera had a lot of really good plots in most instances and their pop culture references were smart and fun. I love the Flintstones and the Jetsons and their creative plots and quirks.
Fun Fact: There were originally 7 members in One Direction, but Simon told Scooby and Shaggy they weren’t talented enough to be in the boy band, and that’s how we got the boy band we all hate.
The quality animation and the recreation of the "Where Are You" opening where the only good parts of the movie. The rest just felt like a phone-in attempt to jump-start a Hanabarbara CU, pretending to be a Scooby Doo movie. also, more of a personal preference, but I HATED the new celebrity voices (especially Shaggy). Frank Welker was the only original cast member:(
Sin for Shaggy not taking the Mystery Van with him when he was kicked out of Mystery Inc since Shaggy owns the Van and is the only one that can drive it.
