The movie was about everyone growing up and moving past the pharaoh, learning to move on and let him go, and about Kaiba not giving a fuck about any of that.

This movie is about Yugi growing independent. Kaiba: *Hold my Mokuba*

This man Kaiba is more determined than any anime character ever. He literally breaks the laws of physics and reality just for a salty run back.

he didn't time travel, he used the dimension cube to travel to the afterlife. that's why atem recognised him and smiled, why all the guards were calm, and why atem's palace had a mirror image floating in the sky. also why kaiba was partially disintegrating around the edges ala dimensions. so yes........he built AN ELEVATOR TO SPACE so he could literally fucking rocket launch himself to the fucking spirit world and play a children's card game with his dead friend. it's SO ridiculous it only works BECAUSE it's kaiba! only kaiba can take things that far and actually pull it off....just 'cus. it's dumb and ridiculous and salty as all hell and i love it. kaiba rules.

Kaiba could cure cancer, but instead he decides to risk his like to play a children's card game.

Eric Stewart and Dan Green never stopped doing the voices so that’s probably why they were able to sound the exact same. They regularly show up to YCS tournaments and duel each other. I love that they actually play the game and seem to love playing the characters.

I like Atem appearing simply for the fact that they're fighting a shade of the past, Atem's job is unfinished, so he can return.

The duel disk being linked to Kaiba’s brain is how he was able to summon Obelisk. Do you understand? Kaiba WILLED that shit. He willed obelisk to appear because he was not going to lose when he’d come so far.

Diva honestly feels like an afterthought when Yugi and Kaiba start interacting.

If LittleKuriboh makes an abridged version of this movie, he’s going to have a lot of great material to work with. XD

Interesting that you interpret the last scene as Kaiba going back in time. I always thought that the sonofabitch literally broke into Atem's afterlife.

The Card that Atem pulls, I think it was introduced slightly before or after the movie but it can be special summoned by drawing and gets its attack doubled when it fights a dark monster So at least they made it a believable card unlike some cards in the actual anime

Most forget but, the reason Kaiba can call Obelisk (and use him in battle city) is explained in the final arc of the show. Priest Seto is Atem's cousin, and the Heir to the throne if Atem dies, or has no children. before Atem returns to the preset, he makes Seto pharaoh. So Seto is a pharaoh, thus being able to summon the gods. he just prefers Obelisk

Antagonist guy: "I'm unstoppable!" *Looks at Kaiba timidly* "R-right Mr. Kaiba?"

I'm gonna be honest, I think Atem returning to stop Deva was important for a reason that most don't consider: The Millennium items are relics. They're figments of the past. Kaiba went digging the past up and brought the troubles forward, interrupting the flow of life that the gang was starting to step into. And when the past almost consumed them, Atem returned, *destroyed the Millennium Ring and Puzzle permanently*, and then left with one final goodbye. I see this as him recognizing that he can't allow his past to threaten his friends, and he came back to clean up so they can get on with their lives and not have to keep dealing with his story.

Dan Green was one of my main reasons on why I went to see this movie at theater - no lies. I too wish he can be in more animes but ever since the lost of his wife due to childbirth, he had to take care of the two kids he was left. So I give the man more props that he found some time to do this for us fans.

I belive Little Kuriboh talked about Dan Green having basically retired when his wife passed away giving birth to his twins. So much talent was locked away to take care of his babies at the time. Glad to see him comeback for the movie.

Plot twist: The new duel disk didn't do anything Kaiba is just so self absorbed that he resists ancient dark egyptian magic

I love how the title is called everything wrong with yugioh dark side of dimensions when he mainly talks about what he liked about the movie he gave the movie pros more than he gave it cons

I love how Kaiba literally blsted himself into the afterlife just so he could play children's card games with the spirit of an ancient pharaoh

Kaiba is a crazy madman in this movie and I love it He is literally off the rails.

Just as a reminder of the things kaiba has done -bought out a weapons company to turn it into a toy manufacturer -built a murder themepark to have his salty runback with yugi, staffing it with former US marines, an actual serial killer, and an insane scientist -tortured an old man to have his salty runback with yugi -infiltrated a multibillion dollar corporation and stopped bullets with trading cards to save his brother -bought out a city to host a card game tournament -turned his dad's weapons testing island into an arena for his card game -blew up said island when he lost -created virtual reality -blew up some pilots to show off his virtual reality -set up 2 world tournaments to have his salty runback with yugi/the pharaoh -built a machine to go to the afterlife, defying mortality itself, to have his salty runback -created a satellite and capsule to send into space. filled it with a 6 year old's created cards as well as a several thousand year old duel spirit to teach aliens how to play card games -created a school to teach kids how to play card games -his god - obelisk - was used to designate all the top students, who have 5 star dining and sleep in a mansion -yugi's god - slifer - was used to designate the worst of the worst, and they lived in a shack on a cliff and ate almost nothing but rice and canned vienna sausages -ignored when two of the richest guys in the world tried to buy out said school -let a dropout who ditched the school come back and duel them, using only monsters with under 1000 atk -funded another world tournament, invited world leaders and a serial killer as well as pros to lay the smack down on students -when the avatar of the god of despair and sorrow manifested, he was the ONLY ONE, possibly on the planet, other than judai and johan, to not be overwhelmed by despair -fully bought out domino city, kitted out the cops with duel discs, and made trading cards the currency of his city and its sister city -in an alternate dimension, he bought out a city and turned it into a city run by card games, with augmented reality devices everywhere and used by everyone, even non-duelists -in yet another alternate dimension, he helped fund the creation of hardlight constructs and gave life to duel monsters spirits

I demand a second movie Kaiba saving his Blue Eyes Waifu!

One of the things I absolutely love is how accurately Bakura's panic attack is portrayed. As someone who suffers from PTSD, they showed the raw reaction of being caught off-guard with trauma accurately. You remember things incredibly well and with vivid details. The panic of reliving the trauma sets in, and BAM, incapacitated for a while. It's incredibly accurate and shows the depth of the trauma Bakura suffered at the hands of the Sennen Ring.

I dont think it emphasizes the moment at all. Another youtuber explained it perfectly. Yugi had long accepted that Atem was gone, even telling Kaiba that he wasn't coming back. Not once during the duel did he ever say something stupid like "I wish Atem was here to save me". He fought with all the confidence and power he had gained by the end of the series. It was just that he was a kid, a mortal. Only Atem could stop something like the millennium ring. Also Kaiba didnt time travel, he went to the dimension of the dead. He was able to do it cause he swiped Devas cube. You can see it in that scene.

I swear kaiba is crazy. He invents a way to literally break into the afterlife just to play a card game against a dead guy. Edit: HOLY DOGSHIT AND TEXAS!!!!! 3000 likes?! Didn't ever expect that when I initially made this comment.

I don't think Kaiba went back in time. I think that this was the afterlife, or else Atem wouldn't have smiled at Kaiba like that

So...basically Kaiba has supreme control of earth but can’t get over a breakup so he becomes a stalker to the dead pharaoh, (and abandons all his responsibilities to Mokuba; willing or not) Joey has an inferiority complex, Shaadi created a cult, and Atem was forced to return from the dead because nobody can take care of themselves!

Best line in the movie is Atem saying, "You've been saying that for years, Kaiba".

Honestly, seeing this movie was one of the best cinema experiences I've had. I saw it with a bunch of friends who I met through playing the game and a bunch of people from our locals. It was the perfect crowd for this kinda movie that you could just feel the love we had for it. The jokes we so clearly written with fans like us in mind.

Kaiba puts Tony stark to shame, what a badass. honestly the best thing that could have happened to give the series the ending it deserved.

I think we can give the pharaoh scene a pass since Yugi had shown his maturity and growth throught the movie, he missed Atem but he was the only one who truly accepted he had to leave and it might be dumb but I like how his last line is about him believing in the heart of the cards instead of just giving up and calling the pharaoh, I think Atem's return is kinda like a reward for him not giving up on doing it by himself, so the pharaoh went like "ok you've stood your ground against a magic kid possessed by pretty much egipcian satan, I guess I'll help you even things out a little bit" and the way yugi's face is superimposed when the pharaoh plays his card shows that it's not ALL Atem in there, yugi is also playing that card That's also why the scene after that is so good, they don't need to talk to each other, they just nod and he's like "yea yugi, you got gud" plus, it bears repeating, dat music man

I just adore kaiba's character in this movie so much, if nothing else for how honest he was with yugi. Boiling it down to "I respect you, I know that you're a great duelist on your own right but you will never be him to me." I mean everyone said it for years but this movie just flat out admits it; the Pharaoh is Kaiba's best friend.

Despite agreeing about Atem possessing Yugi point, I still loved that scene. Shows that Atem is still looking after Yugi somehow.

That computer was the best thing ever and sums up Kaibas character perfectly. Vegeta and Kaiba would be a match made in heaven, lol.

Honestly this movie somehow feels like the spiritual successor to the abridged series.

I love how Atems guards just let Kaiba walk in and allow him to use pretty much sorcery to play a children’s card game with an ancient Egyptian pharaoh they are meant to be guarding

I have to correct you on something here. Kaiba doesn't actually make a time machine to go back to Ancient Egypt as that Atem didn't know him yet. Kaiba uses the Millenium Cube (Aigami somehow has the 8th millennium item) to go into the afterlife to duel Atem by making a machine that travels through dimensions. In my opinion, that is a bigger flex.

You really have to admire the sheer will and determination of kaiba... The fact he was an orphan and had nothing to become what he eventually is shows how awesome he actually is. He would've beaten everyone in this film and actually found a way to break the laws of physics to travel to the afterlife is astounding... I can't see how you can root for him to succeed after all he has been through.

I honestly wanna see the duel between Kaiba's holograms and Atem's ACTUAL MONSTERS.

I always wanted Bakura to be fleshed out more. Yami Bakura is great and I've always loved him, but I always wanted to see more of the trauma and effect that being under his influence would've caused Bakura. They show it a little bit in this film when Bakura kind of starts having a panic attack cause he doesn't want to remember the day he got the Ring, but I'd like to have seen more of it. There's also a scene in the series (I think season 5?) when Bakura is running away from the voice of the spirit and is freaking out - that shit's great. I know it's ultimately a kids show and those concepts might be a touch too dark to get into much detail with, but I'd still like to see it. Still a fun movie though.

Kaiba just missed Atem and honestly for him to have done all that just for an attempt to get to Atem, it shows how much Kaiba's life changed (more emotionally than anything else)

I really did love this movie. The bit with him saying that he would outright fire god for such a poorly designed world had me in stitches. I kept rewinding it. Also did anybody notice that Kaiba chose to murder the pilot to show off the power of his hologram?
