Hey Ash. I was actually wondering about the L word. The original. I've heard some things about what went on behind the show and was wondering if there was enough to possible make a video about? I loved that show a lot for various reasons but also had a big role in my personal life for obvious reasons. Me being a lesbian, and all the drama that went along with it when I was young lol it was a great show. Sad. But good. Few characters I couldn't stand lol you probably know who. I was always a huge fan of Peyton and now seeing Hilarie rock the grey hair is making me feel better about mine! My entire family went grey super early, my Nana was entirely grey by 30 and I started getting grey at 31, and now I'm 33 and although it's just at my temples and above my ear not at the widows peak like HBM's gorgeous hair - I'm starting to love it. My grey hair is like snow white and I can't hide it... I think I am going to put some highlights in around my crown...idk lol. Thanks for hearing me ramble 😅

I know nothing about Jensen Ackles, but good on him for coming to stay with Danielle during that hotel stuff. It such a simple thing, but it probably meant that she was spared some horrendous experiences whilst there, that being alone there could\ve facilitated. Mark sounds like a terrifying man. I can understand why she was calling Jensen and why he rushed to make sure of her safety.
I’ve always been a fan of Jensen so to hear he did this for Danielle so early on in their relationship to make sure she was safe makes me love him even more ❤
I adore both Jensen and Danneel. They seem like truly awesome people. I have never really heard a bad word from any casts or crews about Jensen (Danneel either, but I follow Jensen much closer).

Yes I actually noticed that really quickly when I started researching the video. So strange as it is such a big show, it’s available on streaming, there’s a rewatch podcast, I was really surprised! Hopefully it’s not because other RU-vidrs have realised OTH videos bomb 😂

Mark Schwan writing and producing the entire freaking "psycho Derek" storyline while being a real life nightmare for Hilarie, he was pretty much a stalker, is so disgusting.
As crazy as that storyline was, Hilarie actually thinks the world of the actor who played Derek. Said he was so kind and professional, constantly asking if she was ok, if something was too much, always making sure she was comfortable and felt safe in the scenes. Someone had to take the job, I’m glad it was him.
@@1omarella that’s amazing. It’s nice that she at least had someone who would make sure she felt safe and comfortable during such emotional and mentally taxing scenes. Even if she didn’t look back on that storyline later and think of Mark in someway, playing a role who goes through something like that is a lot and it can really wear on someone.
Kudos to Daneel Harris. People didn't like her coming back married to Dan, but supposedly Paul was a big protector of the women on set, and she only wanted to do scenes with him because of Mark.

Hello! I remember first hearing this on Drama Queens, the podcast where Burton, Joy-Lenz, and Bush did where they re-watched the show. It's even horrible considering that James (who played Nathan) was so young when he was asked to do these scenes and didn't feel comfortable either. It make me so angry that a show I loved so much took advantage of these actors. I still love this show, it was huge for me when I was young. I really related to Haley and Peyton. Jensen Ackles is widely known to be a quality human and there are so many nice stories floating around about him. It makes me so proud to know that he almost came to blows with Mark about his behavior toward Danneel and the other women.

I don’t think there is a single show from my childhood that hasn’t been tainted. But your videos exposing the mistreatment of cast and crew is so important. Especially for viewers to know and support those effected
One thing that I have learned from past experiences is that you never know truly know how you would react in a situation. It's easy to say I would just quit that job, I would just break up with my abusive partner, I would just cut off contact with toxic family members, etc. Until you are in that situation you can never fully grasp what you feel in that moment, you don't really understand all of the variables involved in it.
James was 15 or 16 when they started filming. Let that sink in. Im pretty sure the oldest teen cast member was either Daneel when she came on or Minkus. He will always be Minkus to me
Yeah that's why I find it crazy that Sophia and James dated lol. I never knew about it. And in the drama queens podcast they talk of him like he's their little brother hahaha. Even Joy never felt any romantic inkling towards him because of that

i was 13 in 2003 and obviously OTH and the like were my lifeblood.. I had no idea what these young actors, female AND male, went through and hope everyone is healing. also JDM standing up for his wife makes me so happy, he sounds like a real stand up guy.
I was obsessed with OTH in my 20s. I'm so ready for this. I'm glad I already know the shitshow this show was behind the scenes...otherwise you might break my heart. Let's goooooo.

They filmed Halloweentown & parts of Twilight there. I had hoped I’d run into Joy. I never made it. Thankfully!!! I did see her on perform during The Orange Crush tour which featured The Wreckers & Tyler Hilton back in the summer of 2005ish.
This is so sad. Honestly, I applaud these stars for standing up for their rights as individuals. If they choose to speak out others need to stop and think about what these people (who were teens/young adults at the time) went through, we may not all understand their experiences but as human beings we should extend our empathy and compassion to them at some point. These male (sometimes even female) show runners, directors, producers, or executives want to bring down people who don't do as they ask them to (despite those things being untoward and very unprofessional) - then throwing these actors and actresses under the bus effectively ruining their careers before it even has a chance to grow. Kudos to these ladies for even launching a podcast talking about their experiences.
One tree hill got me through a horrific trauma as a teenager.. and it’s my favorite show, always has been and always will be 🥹 This is so awful though I didn’t know any of this 😭
I never watched One Tree Hill but I am still a huge fan of Supernatural. Now I find out 2 members of the cast of Supernatural are married to members of the cast of One Tree Hill. I knew Hillary Burton married Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but I didn’t realize Danneel (Harris) Ackles was on One Tree Hill. Maybe I should go back and watch the show. Now I just saw the part where Hillary says Danneel introduced her to JDM. I love that.
The two couples friendships are adorable. Jensen officiated their wedding and JDM calls him his oldest son. I watched OTH first, but am the biggest SPN fan so I was surprised to find I was a Danneel fan first, considering Jensen is my favorite actor.
Just so everyone knows, Jensen and Danneel met on the set of Ten Inch Hero which is a romcom and Jensen plays a guy with a mohawk. I haven't seen it in years (probably back when Netflix still sent out DVDs) so idk how it has aged but I enjoyed it back then!
@@kraziiXIIIThey knew each other before the movie and had crushes on each other but had been in other serious relationships, Ten Inch Hero is when they fell for each other, though. They carpooled together to set every day and Jensen says he fell for her during those chats on the commute.

I’ve never seen a single episode of One Tree Hill in my life (‘03 Baby). But, I absolutely your content so I’m currently watching it. Also, Zendaya has a no nudity clause in her contract as well. I think it’s was implemented around the time Euphoria was being developed. We always speculated it considering most of the actors have stripped in some form or fashion. But a particular scene in the first episode of season two pretty confirmed it. I can’t wait your next deep dive 💗💗

"I wanna talk about some of the chaos and drama around dating" *zooms in on Chad Michael Murray* 💀 I live in Chad's hometown so back in the day we all watched OTH religiously 🫠 I remember seeing that family picture of the Galeotti's on Joy's website (my friend and I were also big fans of her music), and I recall feeling very uncomfortable about it/their dynamic. I still have all the seasons on DVD (except the last 2, which I don't claim) but I doubt it would ever be more than a cringe rewatch after this; definitely not a nostalgic one. Glad they were able to make these issues public!

tbh even without the whole mark scandal, it was clear that he was extremely fixated on hilarie. peyton always got the saddest, the most dramatic storyline ever. only in season 4, we saw a truly badass peyton who tried to be a strong person her own and that was for a short time too. she always had lucas as a safety and a sanity net. she was a pretty girl who was waiting to be rescued. yea leyton was always going to be the endgame since day 1 but the reason for that being mark's weird fantasy just sucks it was weird knowing that chad michael murray was the good guy in this case, considering his private life was kinda messy. Dan/Rachel storyline was also weird af but them having that storyline BECAUSE how creepy mark was also sad

I am not at all surprised to hear Paul helped her when she left it, as I remember they were super close, and it's super heart warming to hear that she did have support for her and her daughter. ❤

I started watching Chicago PD with Sophia Bush after watching OTH when I was younger and saw some negative rumors about her around that. Now I heavily question that especially that ridiculously long scene in her underwear in her last episode, that made me very unhappy with that show.

"Why didn't they leave" for what? For another show with the same systemic issue? Another creep? My first engineering job my boss asked to spend a night at my place, I refused, he told me not to come the office anymore, my second engineering job I was ordered to serve men coffee and wash dishes instead of secretary. You have to constantly set yourself back in your career and switch between creeps and morons until you find a place with enough respect, while job market isn't easy without it
I never watched the show when it aired but years later I watched it on Netflix and was hooked. I love the drama queens podcast and cast. It breaks my heart to hear how terrible the cast was treated.
I agree with Moira Kelly, leaving and possibly "ruining" one's career is a better choice than staying and going through hell. Look at Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Britney Spears, Misha Barton, etc.: stardom without mental health isnt worth it.

If someone peddles the "why didn't they just leave?" I worry for two reasons. Firstly the individuals attitude towards women and abuse. Secondly their absence of empathy, maybe based one gender.
Although I never watched one tree hill, it was around during the years when I was socialising every night (with my work a lot too) in those years I had certain shows I adored. In saying that I remember the stories about ‘difficult actresses ect’ I’d always felt those types of stories were put out to try and destroy careers. Brill work as always beautiful Ash 🦋
I watched this show when it aired. I've rewatched it and listened to the drama queens podcast, thinking this video might be review. Nope. I'm only 15 minutes in, and hearing details on things I have never heard before
I remember hearing that Hilarie Burton was a diva who “demanded” too much money. They started the same rumor about Chad Michael Murray, but it didn’t seem to hinder his ability to get roles. I’m disappointed that we all just believed it, but I’m more sad that people still feel like they can’t speak out after enduring this sort of abuse. The ladies from OTH are truly paving the way for others to feel safe speaking out. I’m proud of them for doing that.

MVP! So first off I’m a straight guy from across the pond and One Tree Hill has always been in my top 5 shows of all time. From first seeing scenes with my Mum when I wasn’t old enough to watch to a complete rewatch years later. Hopefully I’ll find myself visiting Wilmington, NC one day. I genuinely was shocked with the amount of details there is with how horrible Mark Schwann was during this period. Hilarie, Sophia & Joy are incredible women for withstanding and speaking out. I’m glad that Chad Michael Murray & Antwon Tanner figured some stuff out to become better men too. This video was so well done and felt like an interaction with a friend. Thank you Ash! 👏
During lockdown, my sister and I rewatched the entire show and you can hear Mark's ideologies about young women and other aspects of society all throughout the show. You can tell he was obsessed with Hilary and the female archetype he created for her character and how his writing would punish any girl who was written as a promiscuous type or someone who uses their looks to benefit themselves. It's just crazy how his warped idea of beautiful young women is right there in the show.

I had run out of shows to watch, so I gave One Tree Hill a shot and ended up binge watching the first 8 seasons. I didn't even realize the show was still airing. I then watched the last season as it aired. I was in my 30s and still really enjoyed it. I had watched Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place as a teenager. As a little girl, I watched Dallas and Falcon Crest with my Grandma. There's something nostalgic for me about watching these type of shows that I would normally not be interested in. I absolutely fell in love with Sophia Bush. She is so beautiful and angelic looking and she has the best voice. I could listen to her talk all day every day. I loved how her character, Brooke, developed throughout the seasons and her clothing line was amazing with a message that was incredibly important for young girls to hear. "zero is not a size"
I saw One Tree Hill a few times. I remember basketball,art,fights and Hilary's character bleeding out on her wedding night. I don't recall if she had the baby or died.
She had some trouble with her pregnancy but the baby and her were fine, the season finale was Peyton, Lucas and the baby (Sawyer) driving off in Peyton’s car’s.
I've never seen One Tree Hill but I've seen other videos like this about shows I did watch, and with that experience, I can only imagine how healing this video was for the fans
