What a terrific sound, that last chord just kept on sounding. A beautiful instrument too. Had to subscribe. 🙃

Not only is Mr. Forster a genius luthier, clearly he's expert in the musicology of this and his other fine instruments. Thanks for sharing. Wonderful sound.

I'm neither an expert nor a genius, but I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I get what you say, Mr. Forster, however, I am reminded of the sayhing attributed to Thomas Edison. Regardless of some of the controversy about the man, his saying has some truth in it. "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. Great accomplishments depend not so much on ingenuity as on hard work. This is a saying of the American inventor Thomas Edison." To that end, that is how I regard your work. Inspirational and filled with determination. Best wishes!@@Nkforster

Aaron jones bought me your book Between the ideal and the possible as a gift when I started building instruments a few years back I’ve played his sobell 10 string a few times when he visits Bournemouth/ Poole I’ve yet to make one from the McDonald books and plans as I’ve got stuck on building electric guitars as that’s what I play mostly jazzy/ funk type stuff . I’m just a hobby builder build a fiat top mandolin and a load of ukuleles as well as the electric guitars but hopefully moving in to acoustic instruments soon and an arch top jazz box Benedetto planes etc . Just love building instruments in my spare time Absolutely love you book it’s eye candy beautiful work . Can’t wait to build an bouzouki and a mandola . I’ve got an old fylde mandola loved playing it but unfortunately the top has sunk which I plan to rebrace when I get some more knowledge on the subject Only just found you channel I’ll be on a binge watch session Cheers buddy a pleasure seeing your work Zeff

Thank you, very informative. I have an inexpensive one that my local luthier tweaked and it sounds incredible. Once it opens up the sustain is awesome, much like what you demonstrated. I am a portly chap and my instrument is very much affected if it touches my belly, still sounds great but if I can play it away from my body she just rings. Any suggestion for keeping it not touching? There is a company that produces a wire like frame that attaches to the body (spring-like, no drilling or screws) for mandolins, they've stopped making custom frames for other instruments. Hoping there is something you may know about. I've lost some weight but still dampens the sound. Beautiful instrument! Thank you for showing it to us.

Hi, I've just refurbished an Irish Bouzouki and made it electro acoustic. Just about to string it and the set of strings I had delivered are different to yours. Looks like yours are in 4 pairs of the same gauge whereas the ones I have are more like a mandolin with one fat ,one thin string for each course. Have I ordered the wrong strings (although it says Irish bouzouki on the packet) or is this just a different way of voicing the instrument? Cheers Gary
