I love Amaryllis Bulbs in winter. They remind my of Asiatic Lily's During summer. They are so easy to grow and provide blooms year after year with little care. In this video I will show you how to plant your bulbs, what you're supposed to do with them after they are done blooming, and forcing dormancy for Christmas and Winter Blooms. I'm growing a few of my favorite varieties this year and I definitely want to keep them each year because the bigger the bulb the more spectacular the blooms. I hope you liked this video. I would love if you subscribed and commented down below with any questions you may have. Thanks For stopping by.

They definitely bloom. I got a trio from Costco, I put them on my mantle and unfortunately two of them fell and the wax cracked. I initially removed the wax and had them in a tiny bit of water because I knew nothing about them. The roots definitely came and now they’re each on their own pot thriving.

Hi I live in Zone 9. I was given an Amaryllis plant as a gift. It is the Feb 17 and I have cut off the dead blooms but still have some going. I want to try and save and help the plant bloom again. I think I will have a problem with the Dormant time because of where I live here in Ocala, FL. Watching your video is informative but I am not sure it will work for me. I am having some time trying to find a video for Zone 9 on how to take care of plant after blooming. Hoping you can help me, if not thanks for your time.

Hey! You’re fine. You’re ahead of the game in your climate. Your temperatures are above 60 degrees outside at night right? You can actually take yours outside and put it in a part-shade area in your climate. Keep them watered and fertilize once a month. Too much sun can scorch the leaves. Let those leaves after they are done blooming take in the photosynthesis and store nutrients for at least 2-3 months. Once that happens you can bring them inside, stop watering, let the leaves die and turn yellow and store in a dark cooler room around 50 degrees to force dormancy. Please ask some more questions if you need it.

If you would rather let them bloom naturally just keep them inside with nice bright sunlight, water, fertilize, and cut down the dead bloom stalks…but leave the leafy growth and it will bloom again inside at sometime when it feels like it again.

@@FlowerFanatic Thank you so MUCH. This plant is very new to me. Is there a special fertilizer that I need to use for this Flowering Plant? If I have more questions I will differently ask. Kudos

There are so many out there. I just use miracle grow. It’s easy to find. Amazon has some nicely rated ones. An all purpose indoor fertilize works 👍 you’re welcome! I’m glad I could help. I’m jealous of your warm weather right now 😊

Wow, your blooms are almost as gorgeous as you are, well done! Oh, so you don't tip your pot over when forcing dormancy? I am getting back into the groove with my collection of bulbs. It is only one variety, but I am pleased with it. Mine are only offsets because the mothers were murdered a couple of years ago. So I am lucky to get 1 flower spike per bulb. One thing that I learnt the hard way, is not to force dormancy on the offsets. It doesn't harm them, but it does slow their progress dramatically. It looks like you saved the waxed bulb, as the basal plate looks good. I may have tried to hydrate the basal plate for a few hours to refresh her. But you know what to do, and the Amaryllis are quite forgiving. I look forward to viewing more of your content. Thanks for sharing your plant care methods.

What if your amaryllis has a lot of leaves do you cut them and leave the bloom stalks for them to bloom?

I don’t typically cut back the leaves. So you have bloom stalks on them with the leaves?
