I found out that when someone kicks you, you can open your inventory/map/thoughts/people menu and just wait out the stun. Seems the stun timer doesn't care if the game is paused.
Great video! I'd like to add one more "technique" though, and that is how lockpicks can instantly kill anyone if you hit your opponent with it as it breaks (as in, when it's very low durability). If the opponent doesn't dodge out of the way, they just instantly die which can be used for some situations such as needing to kill someone very quickly or actually killing those tanky flamethrower guys for absolutely nothing.
a little tip with the pistol, bandits run at you in a straight line after equipping their knife. Plenty of time to extrapolate where their head is going to be in 3 seconds. Headshots are THAT easy. Also Oodonghs die in one pistol shot to the face and do the exact same thing. So you can do the Termitary quest by putting yourself at the corner of a long hallway and then just fire your pistol to lure them to your spot.
Mate, I am so incredibly grateful someone finally does in-depth content about this game as a _game_, not just as the obscure Russian novel that it also is. These analysis are also great bc there are so many interesting themes in the story, but in regards to gameplay it is just as unique. Have already watched all of your vids and really looking forward to future ones. Keep it up!
For some reason enemies never chased me when I climbed stairways to heaven. I think that's intentional since you have kids running that one kid into a stairway to heaven. I had a cool moment where I let my stamina regen, landed on bandit's head and dashed away to safety. So yeah, keep that in mind too. The kicking trick however I didn't know about. Great video
god that reminds me that i crave a mod that does nothing but make it that artemy changes his bloody grip when blocking with a knife - with the angle as is he's got the point at his face, he just needs to be lightly jostled to stab hmself in the eye. it genuinely makes me anxious when playing like he's got the point FACING RIGHT AT HIM
Flametrowers have 10000 hp. This explains why I focused on shooting one with the rifle for over 10 minutes and they didn't die. But if you somehow miraculously kill one, do they drop anything? Weapons, ammunition, clothes or something like that?
Where'd you even get a good condition rifle? Anyway, a lockpick will instant kill any enemy if you attack and it breaks. An almost broken lockpick can even kill flamethrower guys. They really don't drop much. Some raisins, walnuts, or other low value items. Gameplay Spoilers below if you haven't finished the game. Kids leave the next day I believe so there's not a lost of value in killing them. You probably don't need the food if you made it that far, but regular soldiers are better. If you're really desperate you can kill a soldier, run inside a building, wait a bit, and stealth away when his friend forgets you. Even if you're completely out of food, soldiers have enough for the rest of the game.
I feel like the light attacks are useful for interrupting enemy attacks! Since they consume a small ammount of Stamina, it can be used to intercept the enemy's attack and buy a second or two to recuperate or to hit them with a heavy attack!
