Corduroy is one of my favorite fabrics to sew for fall/winter. In the U.S. we call the pile, “nape”….having to lay the pattern pieces in the same direction of the nape to have the color consistent. To my dismay I once ruined a beautiful corduroy not knowing this. Love the jumbo cord and the baby cord is beautiful. Thanks for the detailed review.
My go to pattern for the needlecord this autumn will be the Cielo tunic dress from Closet Core. Simple shape, easy to layer and to wear and its got pockets. I suspect my mum will want the printed mustard cord for hers.
So it depends on the composition as some corduroys contain polyester. But at Sew Me Sunshine we tend to only stock cotton corduroys. We recommend (and so do our suppliers) to wash on a standard spin wash at 30 degrees and do not tumble dry, just line dry. And then when ironing to iron only on the reverse and lightly as you don't want to crush the ridges.
