I agree that the classic golden age of comics was worth more than gold than today's. Can invest much in today's new generation of comics. I have been collecting comics since elementary school but did not prefer to sell them because they had no price tag. More valuable when they become classics.

You forgot one: don't invest in She-Hulk (or any other MCU shows that ridicule the very people that buy comic books), because you're going to be really sad when it shows up again and again on the "these books are going down" videos. The first appearance of She-Hulk is now selling for less than the first appearance of Nova (Frankie Raye).

Always wonder how CGC says a hulk 181 could cost $1,000+ to grade while hulk 183 cost say $40. Outside of price gouging at a criminal level should it take a grader any longer on one vs the other? Are the cases different? Oh yeah, sorry, that’s right, “insurance”. C’mon. They have large blanket coverage. If something happens to your book at any step, CGC isn’t going to admit fault.
@ComicBookInvestments

Cgc and all other grading companies just trying to make more money. But to be fair you gotta factor in that low level graders grade low value comics. And better graders grade expensive stuff. And better graders have a higher salary

*_All one needs to know is that White Pages is best and Off White-To White Pages is second best and that even Off-White is (very)good._* *_One should also know that one can improve the Paper Grade by mere light._* *_And IMO, anything before 1/1/1980 that is not White Pages is a bit "odd"._* *_Just one thing, a CGC 10 is ALWAYS "White Pages". There does not exists a CGC 10 that is "Off-White Pages". A CGC 9.9 can be "Off-White To White Pages", but not "Off-White". The paper quality and color DOES count on the grade._* *_Now, just wipe CGC 10 from your mind, 0.1% of ALL books graded by CGC have been graded a 10. And more than half of those 10's were manufactured with intent on being graded a 10 or are specialty books that need enormous precision, like foil, "real silver", faux leather. And only 0.4% of all books graded by CGC are a 9.9._* *_Back to the paper quality, there's 26-28 of these "Paper Grades", but that includes when some books were printed on colored paper and when the inks used bled into the gutters making the paper look like it was colored(few, and many decades ago this was common)._* *_An example: there is no book with "Tan Pages" that is higher than a CGC 8.0; because the pages are Tan._* *_Off-White To White Pages simply means: from the center of the book to the edges the pages are White to Off-White. The worst part of the Page Grade is mentioned first-usually. One should just consider the paper color changes from the center to the edges._* *_Just by giving the book "Blue Light Therapy", you can adjust the paper grade and get a grade bump. I have done this and will keep doing this. If one were inclined, one could place the book outside in the Sun for a similar result, but that is harder to control; for one, the cover can get faded quickly._* *_There is a list floating out there based on paper quality you can judge the grade. It seems extremely accurate-for my collection it was 100% accurate._* *_That was surprising. I expected 50%._* *_Poor air quality, damp air quality, temperature, body odor, pet odor, cigarette smoke, cooking fumes, spores and mold etc, etc are what change the paper quality._* *_But then there's luck. As a kid I had "readers-copies". I just piled these in an open box that was at sometime placed in a storage that was not ideal for comic books. Decades later, when I found the OPEN, readers box(it was large), with un-bagged books: only the comic books on top of the comic book piles in the box were damaged; by dust. A thick layer that really could not be totally removed; but the rest were fine! I had many of them graded to get more liquidity for my collection-these books were never accounted for, so this was "free money". They came back 9.4-9.8's...._*
@ComicBookInvestments
@ComicBookInvestments Год назад
Page quality to me doesn’t really add much value unless it’s a more common book where you have options. Like a wolverine limited 1 9.4. Probably 100s available at any given time. So why not choose the white pages one

First, I get what you’re trying to say. However, you are talking about the crème de la crème of comics books at the beginning, cherry picking so to speak. 99.9% of books never hit those rates. You need to know zero if you invest in a mutual fund or go the s&p 500 way. Comics are an unstable, unregulated & immature market, i.e., very speculative. Not a good “investment.”
@ComicBookInvestments
@ComicBookInvestments Год назад

@@ComicBookInvestments sure, but again, who owns Batman 1? Superman 1? And AF15 is nice (I have 2) but you need really high grades to make them a great investment, esp at today’s prices.
