Highly recommended! Oats are one of the healthiest grains, 17 grams of protein per 100 gram serving. Environmentally friendly as they require minimal fertilizers and pesticides during cultivation. They also can grow in marginal crop production areas. I prefer almond milk for the added minerals, and any locally available in season fruit. Try making a larger fruit salad and using the overnight oats on top, using grated apple and cinnamon powder as a garnish. Thank you for this video, well done, by a happy person in a clean kitchen.
@@Brown_girl_with_a_white_coat sorry for a late comment, but yes, you should definitely try it!! Be sure to add some toppings like fruits though, as some people don’t like the plain taste of oats.
I just discovered the magic of overnight oats and I am addicted. I make my mason jars on Sunday and I'm good through the week. I make different flavors for each day and I'm never bored. My favorite is trail mix and banana! 😄
I've been intending to try overnight oats for a very long time. Finally ate my first this morning, and it was just amazing! I've been missing out. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend you do!
This is the best overnight oats video with so many topping ideas! Thank you. You can also add chia seeds (with a bit more water for the chia seeds) before refrigerating as well.
I prefer my oats very thick so I literally just blend a banana and add some yogurt and then add my oats. I do different variations such as adding some berries or cocoa powder. Sometimes my banana is really brown and liquidy and it is enough to make my oats mushy and thick which is just what I love. I also really like blending a mango to a pulp and soaking my oats in that. And just like you said, the sky is the limit. I’ve even made orchata flavored overnight oats
Love overnight oats, I make them every week for breakfast and the kids love them. Your variations are great and look so good. I never thought to just prepare the toppings and have the family pick what they like to top them with! I have made quite a few versions as well that use sugar free and sprouted oats to make it gluten free. Stay connected!
Listen to me I have the 2 best (and healthy) oatmeal combos: 1: chocolate: milk, oatmeal, maple syrup, *natural 1 ingredient* cocoa powder 2: honey cinnamon: milk, oatmeal, honey, cinnamon Both of these are absolutely amazing! Try them.
I like to make it with kefir. Typically plain kefir but sometimes I use the flavored. The fruit and berries that I use add the flavor and sweetness. I use a two-to-one ratio for liquid to solid. It comes out beautifully.
I just adore how it's so comfortable to listen and to see this video, also there is nothing fancy or ingredients that are hard to get 💜💜🥺 and I want to do the recipes as well hope I get it done real good
I usually make breakfast in the morning before I go to work. But recently my schedule changed and I don't have time to prepare breakfast. Overnight oats is exactly what I need! Can eat it immediately or on the go! I simply cannot function without a breakfast. 😆
My rolled oats recipe Bowl Crush 3-6 berries (any type) Crush 1/3 banana 2 oz chopped orange peel (small pieces) Add oats Add 2/3 cup of almond milk stir leave over night in fridge Morning: Add nuts - walnuts, almond and pistachio Add mixed fruit - sultanas All 1/3 almond milk Mix/stir Microwave on 600W for 2min 40 sec Yum
I made it with yogurt, dark chocolate, peanut butter and soya milk(since plant based milk last longer than diary milk). I only have quick cooking oats tho, but still taste okay even though it looks lika a mushy slimmy creatures. Love it!
@@sanamluximon540 same, rolled oats are not popular for daily consumption and dubbed as healthier maybe thats why its doubled the price from quick oats 😅
Quick oats (chopped up rolled oats) also work really good. They soak up well and hold up just fine compared to old fashioned rolled oats. Mine last for a good 6 days in the fridge without issue.
Using canned coconut 🥥 milk is really a game changer for overnight oats ..I’ll top it off with some almond milk to loosen it up sometimes in the morning 😋
@gopikrishnan unnikrishnan I’m not sure, but normal, carton milk that hasn’t been boiled should work just fine. There isn’t really a benefit to boiling it in this scenario.
@@oopurpledove i would just do water and oats, with all seeds and potential fruit and protein powder inside, then just add milk afterwards 🥛🍫🥣😋 that's how I've always did it before, actually even made a RU-vid video on it to get a crispy top layer 😊🍪
We here rarely eat oat as a breakfast, but I myself really like oatmeal, not just the sweet oatmeal but also savory oatmeal. Everything about oat is just delicious for me. Thanks for sharing this recipes.
I’ve started eating overnight oats as part of my New Years resolution to eat breakfast. I use milk and berries and top with nuts. So good. Thank you for the ideas!
@@alyceajudd3225 I personally don’t. I grab it from the fridge and eat it cold as soon as I get to work. However my hubby warms his up in the microwave. I like it cold.
I'm used to eating my hot oatmeal with lots of coconut oil, cinnamon and brown sugar. Overnight oats are easy to make and I've tried apple, cinnamon, then banana, chocolate. So far I'm only mildly impressed. I am going to try a berry one then chocolate, peanut butter. I'm hoping that I find one I like because of the ease of making it.
@@Greenhealthycooking I used almond milk. The first time I made the oatmeal it was too thick, like paste. The second time I just didn't care for the banana and chocolate together. I have not tried your exact recipes yet but I intend to. I had a fruit smoothy today but will try one of yours tonight.
Nancy Griffin did you use old fashioned rolled oats, not quick oats? Quick oats will get super mushy and pasty. Also, of you like your oats more on the liquid side I recommend adding a lot more milk than just covering the oats.
@@Greenhealthycooking Thank you, I only use old fashioned. I made oats for tomorrow, this time with 1/3 Cup oats and 1/2 cup almond milk and a 1/3 cup yogurt. I remember now that the first oats I ever made had yogurt only, no milk...like paste.
What a great idea! I name my favorite the 3Bs: Bacon bits, banana, and bees wax. I love how the sweet and salty clumps of bacon and oats are stuck to my dentures.
@@Greenhealthycooking I can’t find these lids for Weck, did you buy them separately? Also could you tell me what size you have? They have SO many and I’m overwhelmed haha.
@@fizzfizzbang Yes, I bought the lids separately but I don't recommend them at all. They pop up all the time and don't stay down. The glass lids the jars come with by default are much better or there are also plastic lids that are great. Don't buy the wooden lids. The size I'm using here is 250ml.
I've tried this and enjoyed it too much. Now this is one of my favorite breakfasts. Thanks a ton for sharing this delicious and healthy recipe. Lots of love from India 🇮🇳
Love porridge and overnight oats and I have it most days. I generally have fruit and natural organic yogurt with it plus I mix cinnamon in with my oats, always sweetened with a combination of maple and carob syrup. Also I love chocolate oats and coffee oats too! x
I've been trying to find some healthy easy to do recipes for my mornings and time and time again I always ended up mostly with Overnight Oats. For the longest I was not interested on them due to finding out I am allergic to chia seeds prior the pandemic and in RU-vid all videos have Chía seeds and they sell them as the thing that makes or breaks this dish which did not help my situation. A couple of weeks found your video and I am happy that your recipe is free from chia seeds, I can now do them and eat them and the result is rather nice and filling. This helps a lot for those morning where I just don't have the time to prep me something before work, it just an easy to do prep the night before and voilà! Thank you! :)
Add a teaspoon of chia seeds and that thickens it. I make mine with a teaspoon of chia seeds, some cinnamon, a handful of blueberries and almond milk. Super delicious!
Tysm! This has helped me so much! I’m starting to try and turn my life around, eg. Eat healthier, workout, etc. And this has helped me so much because oat meal is so healthy and tastes so good!!
These are so fun to make and they smell so good when mixing all the ingredients. I made one with the rolled oats and one with the instant oats. Although the rolled oats are healthier I like the texture of the instant oats better and they're ready to eat within a couple hours of being refrigerated. Thanks for the video❤
That's interesting to read. I keep suggesting not to use Instant because they become mush and I (personally) don't like it. I shouldn't assume that applies to everybody. Thank you for voicing this. I will recommend people to try it. Maybe they will love it, like you :)
Love this channel a lot! all the recipes were so easy, inspiring, and healthy. Thank you for that, I really appreciate it. Big support and love to this channel. Stay healthy and keep creating another wonderful healthy meal in the future. 😊😊🙏🙏
Nice lady, great energy. However, she forgot the most important part - cooking the oats! Trust me, your GI will thank you later! Kidding aside, definitely DO soak oats to cut down cooking on time the next morning. This has been done with grains in most cultures since recorded history with items like rice, teff, quinoa etc. Also raw foods have rarely been eaten due to toxicity and pathogen risks. Opt for quality jams, jellies and marmalades on toast if you like fruit. You get more phytonutrient benefit with less digestive effort and greater pleasure overall. I believe we can all benefit by paying attention to the ORIGIN of things in gastronomy and tradition although new age stuff is always nice for a chuckle :)
Late to the party 🥳 🎉 🤪 , but here finally. Thanks for sharing this and taking my self-imposed lack of confidence around making overnight oats out of the picture. Looking forward to eating them in the morning.
Never thought of carrots and raisins … yum … I also throw in sugar free yogurt … with sugar free jams … and walnuts …. I will try carrots and raisins … thanks ,.
Those little containers are gorgeous. Please tell me where i can get it from and do these have lids, if not then HOW to cover the oats in order to prevent drying overnight 😊
I always try to link to all the products I use in my amazon store front: www.amazon.com/shop/greenhealthycooking They are from the brand "Weck" and yes, they have glass lids with rubber bands and little clips.
