I have the quest 2 :(

I have the Quest 1, so I'm due for an upgrade. I kinda want to go for a native PCVR headset, but it doesn't seem Valve will be releasing anything anytime soon, so I'm very *very* tempted by the Quest 3.

@@buggieeevr4646 It doesn't, it has the ir led's built into the controller faces,and relies on AI to improve tracking accuracy when out of sight of the camera's.

Luckily my elite strap is still going strong from day one. Still trying to figure out if I want to spend over $500 for another headset though. 🤔🤔🤔

Quest 1's strap wasn't the same at all... It was semi-rigid rubberized plastic (fucking yuck, Quest 1's comfort was absolutely HORRENDOUS) and the "Y-strap" wasn't at all adjustable like a real Y-strap is... because it was made of semi-rigid molded plastic. They really aren't the same thing like even a bit. 🤷 If your head didn't fit the ONE shape of the Quest 1's mold, you were completely SOL. Here otoh, you can adjust to at least SOME extent where exactly it grips the back of your head. Most reviewers, as well as myself found even Quest 2's cloth strap more comfortable than a stock Quest 1 ever was.

There's almost surely going to be a stationary mode similar to the Q2. That's how I spend most of my time even when I'm standing because I like the circle at my feet better than the painted boundry/walls.

They definitely do! And a lot of developers are doing updates so the graphics look even better on the Quest 3

Motion sickness is dependent on the user. Anyone with their VR legs won't have an issue unless there's a problem with the unit. As VR progresses, newer headsets won't cause motion sickness due to hardware any longer. That's a thing of the past.

This is already confirmed. Dunno when exactly it's showing up, but it's definitely coming!

@@lannawolf1864 ... Beat Saber on Quest already IS moddable dumbass, and 100% REGARDLESS of specific headset used!!!...🤦😑... All you need to do to be able to mod Beat Saber on Quest as much as your heart desires is simply enable/turn on Developer Mode access to enable sideloading support, and then simply sideload any/whatever modified Beat Saber .APK's (aka installer files) you wish to/of your choosing. 🤷 And this applies even to .APK files that you manually modify 100% by yourself, if doing such is actually within your ability range. (Which tbh, considering you didn't even know that Beat Saber modding on Quest is even possible AT ALL, I highly, HIGHLY doubt that to actually be the case... 🤷) All that said, occasionally new Quest OS updates will break modded game installs, but this only happens accidentally and just until the modder can update the specific modified .APK installer for their mod to be based off the latest official Beat Saber build, vs whatever older version it was previously using that suddenly doesn't work with the latest Quest OS update. 🤷

I think it's worth. Nearly double the pixels, much bigger ppd, and pancake lenses. 120hz max (probably 90-100 in daily use) vs 72hz. Thats not even speaking of the performance boost, but the games should play somewhat similar anyways.

lol, psvr is shit. Also, you are not utilizing the OLED aspect of the Q2 display, just as the OG Vive did not, due to inherent smearing that would occur if it did. OLED technology has a ton of inherent latency and pixel response. The reason Q2 used AMOLED was due to cost and pixel density. The colors are not as vibrant as an LCD display. Q3 has a modern LCD that reviewers are saying far surpasses anything Meta or Oculus have put out before. Expect a better display, not nothing like a Varjo Aero or Index in terms of color and brightness.

Yes, obviously. That's the major selling point of XR. Q2 has nearly perfect depth perception, and even the Q1 is great for XR.

​@@evoliciousLol Quest 2's depth rendering guesstimations made during its very poor attempt at stereo 3D perspective correction isn't even FUCKING CLOSE to being accurate!!! Doing anything that involves judging precise Z-axis distances through Quest 2's passthrough is LITERALLY FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE!!! And NUMEROUS people who have gone hands on have discussed how Quest 3's brand new depth sensor COMPLETELY fixes this problem for them entirely, with shockingly accurate depth perception of objects visible across almost (but not quite) all of the lens (still getting wonky at the very lens edges).

You need true wireless buds, not Bluetooth. There are a couple of options, logitech are probably best at £150 but I bought soundcore (I think. The ones with 3 leds on the side) for £80. Their decent sound and zero lag. Microphone is poor on both but I use the mic on quest 2 and the buds for audio. Works lovely!

Oh the soundcore ones have a dongle too, very useful for direct sound

@@blakeconklinUSN1985 sure no probs. I recommend the soundcore as they work with anything that has a USBc connection.

The ones I have are the VR P10 - they are Bluetooth as well as wireless so work with anything, you can even take calls while gaming, it turns down the wireless audio lets you Bluetooth call and then puts the volume back up when the calls finished, very versatile - having a quick look now seems there are even more options, wireless not Bluetooth and you’ll be set. Or both :)

If Valve were to be actually working on new VR hardware, we won't see it for many years. All obvious signs point to Valve not having any hardware development in VR happening right now. SteamVR, Proton, SteamDeck, Source2, CS2 have Valve working full time.

What about Deckard (deck augmented reality device)? Speculation that was an augmented reality device valve was been working on for years. @@evolicious

PCVR is a dying platform with an inevitably terminal, doomed future just like all of tethered-only VR, and the never ending march of the SteamVR user number's decline couldn't make this anymore painfully clear. 🤷 Some advice as someone else with a monster rig who also loves PCVR but can clearly see the way the inevitable winds are blowing, don't buy another PCVR only headset like Valve's upcoming Deckard (which is at least wireless tethered, but thus still needs a PC to work). Get one foot off of that inevitably doomed platform and put it on standalone instead, and most ideally the Quest platform w/ the Quest 3... Just saying. 🤷

Lol nah, I'm gonna support it while it's still around. I bought a quest 2 when it was released and enjoyed playing around with it, but I'm still more impressed with PCVR. When it's no longer an option I can move on, but I have no reason to before then.@@Cooe.

The better resolution won't do much for vr-chat but the facial recognition will. Only issue is the pro will lose support before the Q3.

Quest 3 is EASILY the way to go! Its absolutely GARGANTUAN performance advantage will be way, WAAAAY more important in both the immediate & distant future than eye + face tracking will be. Hell, I don't think VRChat even supports face tracking yet, just eyes! And by the time that eye + face tracking ACTUALLY become proper must-haves in a couple of years, Quest 4 should be available or right around the corner packing both. 🤷

No, no HMD in recent years has SDE. The last HMD that had SDE were the older WMR kits.

I've never had any type of VR and I would like a beginner headset something cool something easy to use nothing crazy fancy, if I wanted crazy fancy I'd buy pcvr. I'd also rather not spend 500$ on headset VR, I'd rather buy pcvr.

But I'm also thinking would it be a complete waste if I buy the quest 2? Will they still update the quest 2 still ,will people still have content and games for it? Or will it be useless in a while?

@@BubbieSmits Save up and get the Q3. Q2 is great if you need it now, but it's far more worth it to get the Q3 since Q2 will no longer be supported in a few years.
