It's rare that I say this... Good job. You went out of your way to make this accurate and I really appreciate it. It's good to see some of us still believe in a right and a wrong way to do things. I've been a fan on my other channel for a while and I've been bass fishing since the early 2000s seriously. People may find out better on certain reels to use smaller length leaders. I don't want to risk blowing out my twing but that's about the only reel I worry about a longer leader. I think I just prefer a smaller leader to a longer one. I don't mind tying knots. I have Instagram I timed a no tension FG and I can wrap one perfectly in less than 2 minutes. I go by the same name but I call myself the knot/line Aficionado. People really just don't care about knots and line when in reality those are the two most important things in fishing.

Awesome video, I've never thought of using a braid backer bc most of the ponds I fish are relatively small and even with my spinning setup I can cast across the ponds with a ⅜ oz lure but I definitely love the line clip bc I hate when get line through most of the guides and then drop it and it and it goes out of 3 or 4 guides

What tool did you use to pull the mono line up out of the spool of the bait caster? I have trouble with that, I have MS and can’t feel line between my fingers very good. You made that look so easy. I’ve bought serval products from watching you do fishing things and the products you use make it look so easy. Really enjoy your videos they have helped me improve a lot of my fishing skills. Not necessarily actually fishing and catching fish but things like what I learned when I watched this video. so just a question if the point of having braid as a backing is to lighten the spool to increase casting distance a little bit wouldn't it be more beneficial to just spool less line then? less line means less material which equal less weight especially since your already spooling less floro since you have the backing on it im just wondering what the true benefit of the backing is

When the spool is low you lose casting distance as well as inches per turn as the spool size would be smaller.

You're just tying the knot, so that doesn't matter. When spooling a baitcaster make sure the line is coming off the top of the filler spool.

Ty, Thomas! I don't run straight braid as I fish around a lot of brush and the braid gets wrapped up in the wood much easier. Now most guys just run leaders to the braid which is probably what you're referring to, but I don't like the extra knot as it's just another spot the line could fail.

Well it depends on technique or cover. When I want to fish with braid I'll add a piece of mono like I did in this vid then spool up the rest with braid. Some guys like to fish with braid then add a leader, but I'm not big on leaders as it's another spot the line could fail.

@@nathanbarker4394 lol, I've been at this for awhile, brother. You can fish with braid if you have stained to muddy water. I wouldn't recommend it with clear water unless you want to add a leader. I fish around a lot of wood and brush and braid becomes a pain in the brush. If it gets wrapped around it and you pull on it it just digs in to it. I like braid around grass or for top water frogs.

Got another question if that’s alright. You always talk about conditioning your line. So is that for all kinds of line or just floro? I never could figure it out. Thanks for your time. -Nathan
