It is clear that the D7 visa is of great interest to anyone looking to immigrate to Portugal. However, there is another group of people who may have been born outside of the EU, i.e. the US, Canada, South America, etc., and who may also have an EU citizenship and passport simply because their parents or grandparents are, or were, EU citizens. Although it seems quite simple for anyone with an EU passport to immigrate to Portugal there are some differences since many of these people have never lived or earned a living in the EU. I believe it would be interesting to look at this particular situation in some detail. Just a suggestion ... about a group of people and potential subscribers to this channel ... perhaps.
The requirement of a one year rental agreement is completely fair, it’s fine. Peoples should not have a problem with that. I'm confused, at one stage they said you need 8,000 EUROS in your bank account before you apply, and then later on they said 16,000 EUROS? What amount is actually correct?
I think these guys just making D7 hard for people. Ambassy may refuse just because of your home country, if you are from US then just put a $2000 in a the bank and you will get the D7 Visa. If you are from Pakistan or Iran for example you will never get it even if you have $100k in bank and having a rental agreement for a villa in Lisbon.
I want to move to Portugal, I have plenty of passive income, I have substantial liquid assets and I have a clean criminal background but committing to a 12 month lease on a property sight unseen is a no go for me; how can you possibly know if the property and neighborhood is suitable for your needs?
So in summary, as I understand from the above........ if you make a d7 visa application on the basis alone that you can prove you have 250k, 500k, 1 million, 40 million in cash..........(maybe because you are waiting for the inevitable stock market crash, so you can buy at the bottom 30 to 40% cheaper investment funds).........SEF will refuse your D7 visa application because it is not producing passive income??? Amazing!
The last portion of the webinar was a bit confusing. As a married couple would we each be required to show a minimum amount in separate Portugal bank accounts. Or can we have a joint account but doubling the minimum requirement of approx 8k euro each? Thank you for clarifying.
Great info. I will likely be moving to Portugal in August. According to the Embassy, I have to make a reservation for an accommodation for one full year in order for my D7 Visa to be processed. I can certainly book an accommodation for one year, but must I remain at that same apartment if I find something better after, for example, 3-4 months? In other words, is the requirement to have an actual, written lease agreement that covers 1-year, or a conformed booking agreement for one year that I could cancel if I find something better after 3-4 months? Thanks in advance.
I thought that you need to show a certain amount income per month? I see that now you need a certain amount in the bank. Do you need both or either one?
I am American with a friend who has gotten her golden visa. Would she be able to sponser me for a D 7 visa? And what is the minimum amount of passive income necessary?
Hi Sharon, if you have bought a property then you shouldn't need a rental agreement. If the property is not currently habitable, under construction or is missing a license or something that could cause an issue. Hi Can you confirm one thing please? If, as a foreigner , I buy a house in Portugal now and receive rental incomes from it, can I include that in my passive income if I apply for D7 in future? I mean, will the passive income generated in Portugal be cobsidered for D7, or the income has to be generated in foreign lands? I'm receiving different answers from different persons so if you please provide a confirmed answer I'll be really grateful. Thank you very much.
You have to have insurance for the amount of time that you will be in Portugal. For example if you're going for 90 days, your travel insurance has to cover you for those 90 days.
