Jurassic Park lore can get confusing. Especially from Lost World and JP3 but this is everything you need to know about the mysterious fall of Isla Sorna. Site B was an island with tons of wild dinosaurs in the sequels and since Jurassic World Dominion has recently teased it's existence, I wanted to go over some of the old materials and films in order to get everyone up to speed. Raptors, Pteranodons and Rexes ruled that island before the Spinosaurus came in to challenge everything in 2001! The Hurricane was also a big part of it's history though. Hope you all enjoy! :D

Like Hoskins said after the park was destroyed in Jurassic World, "Someone has to make sure this company has a future". This might explain why cloning and dinosaur experiments continued on Isla Sorna after the fall of the original park in 1993.

If they're making a Jurassic Park: Trespasser remake, the game should be portrayed as an open-world game that is accurate to Isla Sorna's environment, with AI dinosaurs similar to the game, Goner, where many carnivores, like Carnotaurus and Velociraptors, become hostile when hungry or provoked, while others are neutral or territorial, like Compys and T-Rexes (I know Rexy had eaten smaller prey in the first movie because she's testing what prey tastes like, this is known as Surplus Killing), while most herbivores are neutral or territorial while others, like sauropods, are passive that ignore the player even when attacked; and the game can be considered canon where while Anne tries to find communication and fighting to survive against hungry carnivores, she finds hidden secrets and dark history about both InGen and BioSyn, such as the Gene Guard Act, the illegally cloned animals, such as Spinosaurus and Ceratosaurus, the raptor tribes such as the quilled raptors, the InGen Compound, geothermal power next to the island's active volcano, the diseases that continues to plague Sorna's dinosaurs, and there's also a Super Raptor. Let's get our hopes up!

@prehistorichero2755
@prehistorichero2755 3 года назад
@@shinymk6562 I don't think the game would add more dino enemies, since this game has to be considered canon, and all dinosaurs were on InGen's list--Brachiosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Edmontosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Triceratops, Microceratus, Stegosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Gallimimus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Dilophosaurus, Compsognathus and Pteranodon--along with four new dinosaurs from JP3 later on in the game--Spinosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Corythosaurus. And there might be enemy humans, such as Hoskins's or BioSyn mercs, only in facilities.

You legit just described what one of my two JP stories are so far. With a few differences, of course. In mine, my character is on his way to a dig in Patagonia, in Argentina, when the plane he was in gets hit by a storm, leaving him stranded alone on an island... Or so he thought. My story takes place in 1999, which is in line with both the year Trespasser was set in(my story happened the year after), and during the year Dr. Wu went back to Site B to clone the Spinosaurus and the other three illegally cloned dinos. He runs into an overturned jeep, and he finds a "PVC pipe," but he then realized it was someone's femur. Raptors then attack, he hides in a tree, retrieves his backpack from where he hid it, and continues on. He finds a shack full of guns, and hidden inside, underneath a box of Browning M2 ammunition, is a note left by a mysterious woman, who signed it "Anne". He notices some flares before he leaves, and shoves some into his backpack. Hears a helicopter, it contains Wu and some mercenaries, and that's about as far as I've gotten.

I know in the lost world Hammond talked about how some in Ingen wanted him gone. So maybe those individuals kept operations going on Sorna until the hurricane hit and it became too dangerous to stay. My opinion. I know I’d like the JP/JW franchise to do a what if series like Marvel. Show what if the original Park succeeded or if Jurassic Park San Diego took off without interference from the gatherer group. Cool concepts that would expand the universe.

Just off the top of my head I'm thinking that while Hammond himself after the events of JP1 was quite adamant about wanting to stop all of their dinosaur activities, I'm sure there were a lot of other minds in the company and not least on the board of directors that thought he was out of his mind for wanting to completely scrap something that they've invested so much time and money in. Remember, they hadn't been on the island and experienced what Hammond had experienced. Even Hammond himself before the events of JP1 was aware of numerous accidents and risks concerning the park, but remained convinced that it was worth pursuing. In Crichton's book it is even explained that Hammond procured funding for the park from a fair number of investors, so there would be a lot of people interested in and possibly even demanding to see returns on those investments. I think it's perfectly plausible that the company would try to continue with the operations behind Hammond's back.

This scenario would be ideal for a survival horror game, filling in blanks while navigating Isla Sorna and evading dinosaurs. Imagine eluding raptors while the wind gets ever stronger and rain lashes the ground, windows and buildings in a rock and a hard place scenario.

In the lost world, Hammond mentioned that there were those in the company who wanted to use site b to bail them out after the fall of Jurassic park. Those people probably continued working in secret to get the park up and running while they convinced the rest of the company. However, they stopped when the hurricane released the Dino’s and forced an evac. So hammond’s son (the main guy who wanted to use site B) decided to capture the Dino’s and bring them to San Diego as a plan B.

I really wanna know how Dr. Wu got so evil. I mean he was just a side character with a meer like 1 minute of run time in the first film but in jurassic world and fallen kingdom, he is the worst guy ever! Maybe he started his life of shadyness long before 2015. As Grant so rightly put about Ingen in JP3: "Makes ya wander what else they've been up to..."
@LordBriareos
@LordBriareos 3 года назад
This sounds to me like fertile ground for a live action series. I absolutely love Camp Cretaceous and Battle at Big Rock was an incredible showcase of what more bitesized JP content has to offer. I would LOVE to see them meet fans halfway and make a live-action TV show covering the Fall of Isla Sorna. I want to see what Ingen was up to before the hurricane and what kind of hell was unleashed immediately after it made landfall. I doubt all the destruction in the worker village was the product of weather alone. It would be a great chance to showcase certain dinosaurs that we've haven't gotten to see in any of the movies like the Metri and Sucho. It would also be a great chance to fix some of JP3 missteps, like maybe have an Easter Egg of a Sorna Employee talking on the phone with a Mr. Grant, arguing about Raptors or maybe have someone mention that in order to avoid being sued by the experts who survived the Nublar incident that they settled on sending over the data they gathered from the animals on Sorna. I personally can't imagine that even after what happened on Nublar Dr. Grant would throw away the opportunity of using Ingen's knowledge of live Dinosaurs to further his own understanding and professional curiosity. The Grant we see in JP3 is bitter and angry, but I'd like to think that some lingering awe remained at least for the first few years after what happened on Jurassic Park. Ingen clearly had info on the animals. In TLW they had an entire pamphlet for the benefit of their hunter team, so why couldn't something similar have been made to appease Grant?

6:53 this question of why Ingen would continue to clone dinos after the park failed has been one of those questions that keep me awake at night. My bet is they were trying to perfect the cloning process, and possibly trying to develope bioengineered dino weapons. Remember in Jurassic World, how Vic Hoskins was so insistent on trying to field test the Raptors for military usage? Later on, it was revealed that remnants of N-Gen were still pulling strings behind the scenes (which led into Fallen Kingdom). They could have been doing this even back when Hammond was in charge. Heck, Simon Masrani didn't even know half of what was going on in the labs or what they were putting into his dinosaurs. FURTHERMORE, John Hammond's own nephew, Peter Ludlow wasn't afraid of going behind John's back (as well as the other shareholders of N-Gen). Who's to say that they weren't already considering using dinos as bioweapons? N-Gen could have returned between the events of The Lost World and JP3, off the books to try and clone and create new dino breeds for testing. This could also explain why Wu was responsible for the Spino that was cloned. They might have thought it would be a great base to build a bioengineered super-dino. Once the island was found out (shortly before JP3), it had to be left abandoned once again to avoid exposing N-Gen's presence. I've got a feeling that there were many things going on behind the scenes that Hammond had no idea about (Just as Masroni didn't know about Vic's agenda), or Hammond could have been blinded by childhood wonder at creating living dinosaurs to notice the obvious signs... And I got a funny feeling that BioSyn was mixed up with it as well (at least after the events of The Lost World). The plot thickens...

@Klayton Fioriti they were probably still cloning various dinosaurs just in case the park were to probably be opened on the mainland like it was originally going to be. Honestly I believe that the crew left on Sorna weren’t known to Hammond. He had a change of heart, but no one else did. His investors, COO, and anyone else at the top of the InGen food chain wouldn’t be happy just leaving millions of dollars in research to expire. They probably told Hammond that they stopped production and were just observing or something to that effect. They were lying to him so they could reorganize and try to get back on their feet. The hurricane came through, forced them to leave for real, and the plans were more or less abandoned as the company bled too much money to recover. Just an idea. The corporate world has always been one of backstabbing and lies anyway. Not too much of a stretch I’d say

When I first read The Lost World and learned that the actual development of the dinosaurs occurred on Site B it made me go back to the first story and wonder how much of Hammond's presentation was purely for the benefit of his guests that weekend. I doubt there would've been a live hatching on Isla Nublar had there not been a paleontologist, a paleobotanist, a lawyer and a "rock star" present to hopefully endorse the park.

According to the 2nd film, Hammond had been protecting sorna from outside interference for “four years” placing the destruction of site B in 1993. He also states that “after the incident in the park, hurricane Clarissa wiped out our facilities on site b.” They way this dialogue is structured is to indicate that site B was abandoned shortly after the original film

Jurassic park and Jurassic world isn’t supposed to be scary, but you make it possible and mysterious, I love it, I remember watching your video about a missing person in the Jurassic park game and it creeped me out and made me want to stop watching due to you making a movie about dinosaurs scary, your great!

I agree... I had always assumed that the storm that closed down Jurassic Park was the same one that closed down Site B. But if InGen was still working there... maybe it was for the San Diego park? To make new, young dinosaurs to start that park off with but then the storm took out Site B, so the plan to capture existing dinosaurs was thought up. Its very interesting to think about.

Amazing video as always, Klayton!! We may going to see Isla Sorna in JW: Dominion!! "I agree with you everything in the video." The answer is we going to see prequel movies behind, "what happen after JP and into the story in Site B cloning more dinosaurs between Lost World and mystery in JP 3, also factor into hurricane in it." WE TO SEE THE FUTURE IF THEY GOING TO DO THAT. TO BE CONTINUED....

Oooooh that’s a beautiful Spino intro animation. Low res enough to give me nostalgia, but with enough fine detail to look realistic. I like the idea that whatever cell of InGen went on to clone off the book stuff like the Spino had more power and influence than we’re led to believe. After it becomes clear that the parks weren’t going to open, the higher ups went into triage mode. One part was capturing Dinos for a mainland park (Lost World), another was “abandoning” site B. Maybe the hurricane was just an excuse, so the company could plausibly claim that operations had ceased at site B, while a small team starting illegal cloning there before the clock ran out.

As an all time Jurassic Park universe fan and someone who admires lore building, it's great to see these topics brought up for debate. It is fun to think about this stuff and imagine what happens and how it all fits together in the timeline. It's probably all the above scenarios of continuing care and categorizing the dinosaurs still alive after the abandonment of Site B. Perhaps Ludlow tried to do some early attempts at recovering some live species or the embryos that are still stored away before they go bad. They probably also went back to retrieve any data they would not want anyone outside of Ingen to know about.
@NovusDundus

I always assumed the "still cloning" thing was due to InGen having spent heck knows how much on RnD and wanting to continue down that line as it COULD be a massive money maker. And that despite what happened to the park, it was only Hammond that wanted to not have another one. While the rest of the company/shareholders did. Or Hammond just wanted to bring them back and have them around in more of a "natural wildlife research only" kind of way.

Theory: Biosyn had history with Nedry. He had access to the computer systems at Nublar, and was able to hand off info to Dodson or someone else. Biosyn goes to Sorna and tenkers and makes illegal clones to see if they reversed engineered spino and friends before restrictions were placed on the island at/during JP3. Biosyn had a hand with the fall of Jurassic World and needed that to destroy InGen to move forward. This leads us to Jurassic World 3. Curtains open, and the story continues there...

This is why we NEED a prequel series about the fall of the compound. I wanna see the whole island, their research observations, the secret projects going on the island, and finally the horror part when the compound fails and the scientists and their lab techs have to try to escape

Hammond also said there were dozens of species on Site B. Dozens? Like those that Hammond never knew about while knowing about Brachiosaurus, velociraptor, T-rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, Maiasaura, & pteranodon?
