I've been using the @rodemic Rode Wireless Pro for a couple months now, both in the field with Clients and on my own making RU-vid videos. In this video I give you my honest feedback regarding the Rode Wireless Pro microphone system by rating the audio kit in 5 different areas: Audio Quality (where we compare the audio quality of the Rode Wireless GO II and the Rode Wireless Pro audio output), System's Value, Cost comparison (compared against some of the other devices currently on the market), Ease of Use in the field, and the systems professional features. I also include a wildcard category at the end that is guaranteed to either make or break your decision to buy this system.
I compare the wireless pro system to the DJI Mic system and several Deity wireless systems (oh, and one TASCAM wireless pro field recorder). In this video, I also show you how to use the Wireless Pro's Timecode feature, and explain how timecode works and why it's important. I will also show you how to use the Rode Wireless Pro's timecode alongside the @DeityMicrophones TC-1 timecode system.
This is a very comprehensive review and comparison. If you’ve been looking for the perfect lavalier microphone for RU-vid videos, or any other filmmaking production, you definitely want to watch the whole video.

I'm really curious to find out if anyone else is using the Deity TC-1, or any other timecode system, alongside the Rode Wireless Pro. Also, if you're using another timecode system in combination with a different wireless mic system, is it more user-friendly? I'm curious!

Good content. If you want any feedback that might help you grow; The second angle and jump cuts are pretty distracting and jarring (also white balance is off), might want to invest in a teleprompter if you don’t have one and nail the takes rather than relying on the second cam to cut to. B-roll would be better to cut to than just a second angle of you talking
@DetailsMatterTV
@DetailsMatterTV 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for the input! I’m with ya on the second camera angle. It got a little choppy and I think simplifying may be the best way to go in the future. Which angle is the white balance off? Or are they both off? Because I was using one warm and one cool accent light, I was balancing off of a white balance card, and all the specs said it was clean (as well as proper exposure using false color). I do have a teleprompter on the primary angle, and I’ll probably just stick with that and broll going forward. Simplifies the process too.
@vivianneee98
@vivianneee98 5 месяцев назад
The white balance on the second angle is off
@daletidy.
@daletidy. 5 месяцев назад
By looking at the skin tones and the colour of the box the second angle appears to be looking too blue. Maybe because of the angles of the lights it could have caused a colour cast on the white balance card, better to set the cameras white balance in camera to be the same if they are the same model of camera. Lenses can also have their own colour tint to them too which can throw things out a bit, as well as ND filters. But yeah I think simplifying to 1 angle for the talking and using b-roll will save you time and also easier on you not having to worry about switching back and forth between cameras.@@DetailsMatterTV

The RODE Wireless Pro is my favorite, but it does not deserve the 'Pro' moniker. Also, you must be trying to make a MultiCam in Premiere because you have to work so hard at it. Now for the details: 'Pro' systems do not have prominent branding to photo-bomb the camera. Pro systems do not have reflective surfaces to flash studio lights into the camera (as seen in a RODE-produced video!). Pro systems do not make a lockable lav ring that loosens on one side when you think you're locking on the other side! That last part ruined a recording when I forgot to warn a producer that RODE has a crazy stupid, non-intuitive way of locking the lav to a transmitter. The locking ring operation is NOT INTUITIVE! Why does a user need a class to know how to use the locking ring on the lav? But, as I say, the Wireless Pro system is still my favorite. But, I curse RODE for the low-class, non-Pro big branding on all three units and the surface reflectivity on the receiver. 'Pro' systems don't do that! Timecode? It's a lot of work to get it set up on the RODE Wireless Pro system. There's a MUCH better way to sync'ing clips in a MultiCam using Final Cut. It's called First Marker. After the shoot, I put a marker on something I can identify in all the angles and Final Cut will look at the audio ONLY AROUND the marker and compare it with the audio around the other markers and then sync the AUDIO (NOT the markers! The markers only guide Final Cut to a small bit of audio around each marker to frame-match the clips) perfectly, even if you weren't exactly right in placing the marker. My hour-long, six angle multicam is sync'ed in less than a minute. So, I edit FAR FASTER NOT USING TIMECODE! Got a camera that was starting and stopping during the shoot? Not a problem in Final Cut. A marker on the first clip, then all other clips with the same angle name will appear on the same track in their correct positions. Finally, my one question here is: What do you think is the best setting when exporting audio from RODE Central?

I own the Deity Connect system - but I own the kit that comes with 2 BP-TRX units (like you showed), plus a 2 channel receiver. It also comes with 2 of the Pro Lavs that Deity makes, which are like $180 apiece I believe. I like the system, and haven't really had any issues with it. It's not quite as dummy-proof as my Rode Go II system, but feels a bit more robust. Both transceivers and receiver have external antennas so I'm guessing signal performance is better on the Deity Connect than any of the small systems with internal antennae. I would pick the Go II or Rode Pro systems over the Deity Connect for weddings. One benefit of the Deity BP-TRX units is that all the functions can be easily accessed thru the on board screen and menu - I've found the limited functionality on the Go II units to be frustrating.

@BryonBlack1
@BryonBlack1 5 месяцев назад
@@DetailsMatterTV deity actually just announced (or maybe released?) a new kit that replaces the Connect, called the Theos. This one looks much more robust and pro-level than the Connect, mainly because it doesn't use 2.4GHz signals, so it's less prone to interference from wifi and other consumer devices. It's $1000 tho so it's in a different price bracket.
@DetailsMatterTV
@DetailsMatterTV 5 месяцев назад
Yea I almost preordered the Theos, primarily because it’s turnkey with the TC-1 timecode system that I use. But it’s got all the bells and whistles and it looks really nice, just a steep price tag. Also, when I read the small print, I think the US version will not include the onboard recording, only transmission to the receiver. Do you know if that’s correct?
@docandersonshow

Good content. Accessible. Good presentation. Well scripted. Well lit. Good audio. The B roll choices were nice. But cutting to a different camera angle every four seconds was extremely distracting. I wouldn’t think doing this level of technical explanation, you’d need to optimize it that much for the short attention span theater crowd.
@DetailsMatterTV
@DetailsMatterTV 4 месяца назад
Yea you’re absolutely right. That was the general consensus from many other people here in the comments as well. Going forward I think I’ll only utilize a second camera angle for specific situations. Thank you for your feedback and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

Yea diving into the timecode feature wasn’t the most simple to figure out, but now that i understand how it works it’s pretty simple. I haven’t tried the timecode with the audio channel yet but I imagine it’s the same (once you do it it’ll be turnkey). I like the functionality of the Wireless pro with the TC-1. So handy. Good question. I’d have to look at its functionality. I do have the Ninja V+ and the Shogun Connect and I think they both accept or offer timecode, but I’ve never used it. But if you can jam timecode into the monitor/recorder, my guess it would be a fairly simple process.

You cannot mute from the RX; you'll need to mute the TX if you set up the 'Ø' in RØDE Central. The lack of this option significantly reduces the functionality of this set. You can't do it with software, either. What a stupid idea not to provide such an option-unless someone knows how to do it remotely.
