If you used the same lavs on both mics with internal recording, do you think the audio would be almost the same? I think the DJI2 is much easier to operate in the field, but the Rode internal mic sounds way better and it has the screw mount for the lav. If lavs sounds the same on internal recording, however, I would probably go with DJI2. Thanks for any input!

Rode is better for professionals that won't mind some extra finicking around with extra baggage and loose ends for an overall better audio quality. DJI is better for run and gun where you just need a generally clean sounding audio for socials and don't want all that hassel while on the move.

I appreciate your review as I am trying to decide between the Dji mic 2 and the Rode Wireless Pro. I was inclined to go with Dji and in fact I had ordered the Dji but cancelled the order after reading non favorable reviews mostly associated with audio delay issues and out of sync mics. The Dji looks to be easier to setup and change options than the Rode including the fact that it is much easier to setup onboard recording than on Rode but i am looking for a semi-professional to a professional experience. I am not sure what to do. Camera is a Fujifilm X-T5. Thank you.

Just be carefull though. There’s a lot of situations where it will remove certain frequencies and you’ll sound like a robot. And that’s baked in your audio and can’t be removed There’s plenty of AI voice isolation software like in Davinci resolve that does it with one click of a button plus you can customize how much the effect has on the audio where you have no choice on the DJI.

Go for RODE if you’re looking for quality. But if you have a DJI action cam (Action 4) or Pocket 3, the Mic 2 is incredibly convenient when you can record audio wirelessly with only a transceiver to the cam.

Just subbed. I’m using a single DJI Mic2 transmitter with a receiver connected to my Sony ZV-1. I have the transmitter with gain set to 0, it’s +9 on the receiver and +1 on the Sony ZV-1. Is that right? I did a test using my Audio-technica AT875R shotgun mic going through a GoXLR to Slobs and also on the DJI Mic2 at the same time. I recorded on the DJI Mic2 with the Lav mic and without it and also both again with noise cancelation and without it. My room is slightly reverb but when I listen to the comparisons, the audio from the DJI Mic2 sounds weak and like I’m speaking to someone through a window and the shotgun mic audio sounds full and powerful. Could you point me to some tutorials for how you adjust the wireless audio in post please?

My take is , hopefully the audio sync issues can be fixed and patched. The storage is not a big deal as 12 hours or so is plenty. And last I dont know if this has been mentioned anywhere but. On the DJI Mic 2, by default the low pass setting is enabled. I have disabled the option and the quality jump is pretty noticable atleast now on par with the rode in which I also have. I just prefer the fact I can work with one transmitter need be and not need to rely on the app to fiddle with my recordings.

I'm team Rode but there are view things they could've done better 1. The Cases Why are there 2 cases in this particular design? A practical rectangular case for the receiver and the transmitter + a travel bag for the case and the accessories . Just like DJI does. 2. The Receiver I miss a built-in microphone and the possibility to record internally on the receiver. A connection for the lavalier mics would also have been very nice. Then you could use it as a 3rd "transmitter" 3. Missing Accessories a) A Cold Shoe Mount Adapter - i know you can use the clip, but it doesn't fit well on Tilta Cages, for example b) so many cables, but no TRRS Cable included 4. And this Rode program which you call a Pro is for me a con. Who needs these Audio-Functions? Nobody. You do it all in your DAW or your editing Programm. The Rode does seem more useable though and being able to administer whilst everything is in the charge case is very helpful also being able to manage everything on the app is a big deal as if you have ever had to manage settings on the device that is a big risk when you are actually on location, you want it all set via the app. I like the look of the DJI but the Rode does seem more useable and I think sounds better.

I had the DJI Mic 1 and I used to get dropouts constantly at about 10ft when using with a lav mic and having the pack on someone's back. Considering they are a company that can make there drones go for miles I was super disappointed and I retuned them. Also pro lav mics often wouldn't work/plug in properly and not having a locking connector is a massive dealbreaker.

Same here, around 2-3 m signal started dropping for a few frames every 1-2 minutes. Super weird.

Rode Wireless Pro here. Had too many issues with the DJI Mic 1 already, like dropouts every minute when the transmitter was like 2 meter away already and never got lav mics to work (either trs or trrs) which seems to be a manufacturing issue even occuring on the DJI Mic 2. Loving the timecode on the Rode Wireless Pro which makes syncing multiple videos and 32 bit audio files a matter of seconds in Davinci Resolve. Also both transmitters showing up in Finder/Explorer when connecting the case is a huge plus.

Oh boy, I remember the sync issues on the DJI Mic just too well

The audio quality comparison is mind blowing. The Rode almost sounds like a much bigger membran microphone.

i personally feel both have good quality of sound, only difference is with laviour mic locking , about battery life and connecting with pc end users does not care much about because they use after they charged
