Thank you, Dave. This video really tortoise a lot. It would have been a turtle disaster to pay the higher prices for a later print or counterfeit copy. I only have the 2nd and 3rd prints.

Our shop was able to get personalized ones with local artists work on the back! I have seen this happened a couple of times this year's with comic shops being able to get their name printed on the cover or some page on the inside that you were able to submit artwork to that acknowledges your comic shop, I definitely think it's an awesome idea to get local shops thriving!

I just found my TMNT #1 that I purchased as teenager. It's a 3rd print. It probably would get a grade of 5.0. But I don't care. I am still looking for a few other TMNT comics I have in my house, #2 to 6 and the Raphael special. I picked up the #1 5th print last year for a steal of $40. It's probably a 9.0. I might get these graded one day. These are some of my favorite comics that I own.

I have one of these that is hard bound on the second page top right corner is says 86/500 and has both signatures, Do you have any idea of the value?

Let me start off that i own 2 tmnt #1's, 1st print. 1 9.8, 1 9.0. Both graded by cgc. The 9.8 is at Heritage auction house for its June auction. The 9.0 i am going to hold because I can probably never afford to buy one again. I bought them around 2013.

I love the art and the turtles with my entire being! I can't afford the real deal which is okay for now but if I wanted to get a known counterfeit (with the entire knowledge of it being so) is there a place that's legitimate to get one? If not something comparable that represents the art closely to hang in my collection, thanks in advance

Yes I did. Actually I got 2 recently. The one with all the signatures I bought. But I bought for a customer. I then check it over to make sure it’s legit and get it graded for them

I thought I got TMNT#1 2nd print but it was the small one and I knew it wasn't real when it came in yesterday so I contact the seller and eBay and he is giving me a refund,and that would explain why no one on eBay had snatched it but either way I am getting my money back,but Dave,how can they say on the book Second printing,1984 cause someone might really think it is real and I wish someone would destroy every reprint that doesn't say reprint like Ultimate Fallout#4 reprint cause I am sure you heard that even CGC graded them as a real copy? I guess I am still on the hunt for TMNT#1,plus AMS#129,Hulk#181, Cerebus#1,AF#15 and X-Men#1 then my comic collection will be complete .

Dave, I have enjoyed your videos, but at around 8:12 you cast some doubt about earlier slabbed TMNT #1 at CGC . . . about their authenticity. What is the purpose of doing this? What data do you have for making such a statement? Why cast doubt and uncertainty in this area? Now everyone who has a slabbed TMNT #1 is going to be concerned if he/she has the "real deal." I have two copies of TMNT #1 graded by CGC around 20 years ago . . . one a 9.0 and the other a 9.2. I bought them when the comic book first came out in 1984. I know that they are the original comic book, but there are many collectors who purchased their copy at a later date and had them graded. Please be careful about making unfounded statements unless you have actual proof that counterfeit copies of TMNT #1 have been graded and slabbed in the early days of CGC. Thanks!

I said this because that is what I have heard before. Cgc makes mistakes. And back in the day there was little information about these counterfeits. Cgc did not know about them. They recently graded a facsimile ultimate fallout 4 as a first printing. The odds are most people’s tmnt 1 first print will be fine. But I say this to protect people. If someone is in the market to buy one that is already Cgc graded. Look for the signs. Just don’t take Cgc word that it’s legit. People need to do their own research.
