Yeah, it's an issue with "raw" VR footage. And the reason why a lot of VR content creators/ Streamers use additional tools for a virtual camera in the space or some games offer movement smoothing for the observer view (like beat saber) But that also means rendering out a 3rd image (in addition to the 2 for your 2 eyes) and the Quest is a standalone device that can be linked with a PC (which I'm guessing they probably did for the capture) But I appreachiate that they tried to mitigate that effect with putting it in a smaller cropped window with the facecams around. As a player you really don't notice the shakeyness as you're the one moving your head. Some people still do get quiet motion sick (I personally just needed some getting used to VR) But especially the beginning with all the wows and ooohs really reminded me on how amazing VR can be especially when you're new to the experience. Even if it looks like an early xbox 360 game on your 2D screen 😂

@@nicolasrodriguesdossantos1881 oof that sucks :( Maybe try watching on a smaller screen / smaller window in a well lit room. I heard that can help. (My own issue with car motion sickness is strongest on an empty stomach, for example) Have fun!

Really conflicted here. On one hand, a metaverse sponsorship kind of blows, because they definitely aren’t a good company to associate with, but on the other hand, demeo is a really good game, and resolution games is one of the best development studios out there, they’re super active with the community and they really do the best they can for all their games. So it’s hard to get past the dislike of Facebook here, but it’s really hard to hate the fact the game is getting more attention now

I am actually with you 100%. I've felt this way ever since they partnered with Prime. They are achieving their wildest dreams and making good money doing it so no shade at all. But Meta and Amazon are about as questionable a sponsor as it gets. Personally I am happy for them. But I also personally get to choose what I watch and support, and honestly I've been watching a lot less of their content. It's hard to watch this group that just live streamed with a friend's small company and then struck out on their own now starting to wheel and deal with monopolies and mega-corporations, but that's showbiz, I guess.

@@feral_orc While yes, Amazon is also a platform they rely on, Meta is the one that has directive negative impact on civilization as a whole. Amazon definitely has extreme levels of economical and even political influence, but they are not changing civilization at a fundamental level. I'm not a fan of either company, but I have a much larger problem indirectly supporting a company that is causing damage to how society functions, or how people perceive the world around them. That is far more dangerous with much longer consequences in my opinion, because even while not using their services, humans continue to act under Meta's influences. While social platforms are something I personally feel is a larger problem, there are many, many research papers exploring the detailed impact of them on society/civilization. I recommend investing some time into studies that people smarter than myself have done it you're interested, as I'm not a researcher and do not put in the amount of time those people do. Anyways, that's just my personal take on the "hypocrisy" of me choosing between supporting two (different) types of corporate support these amazing people rely on. They've only ever wanted to just play the game, and I know they are doing this for their fans... But I'm still of the opinion they don't have to be backed by Meta to provide content they want to share. They already know the critters will be there to give them support if they need it. Ultimately, I just hope they stay happy.

The Quest 2 is very much beta hardware, always all kinds of issues. I have to play everything on Oculus link from my PC because the resolutions and software are so bad. It's a great way to play, but this metaverse shit is at least a decade away.

Exactly, and on top of that, the metaverse itself is a very broken concept - they're creating scarcity in (what should be "limitless") digital space so that people can continue commodifying everything and trading it all like stocks. The entirety of Web3 rests on this and a bunch of bullshit blockchain, and I'm pretty fucking terrified of it tbh! c:

@@Octy_in_Boots - The boxes highlighted color depending on whose turn it was, not which camera they were using (which wasn’t always the person whose turn it was). So it was a bit confusing. Watching their head movement helped figure it out, but not always.

I love this game and watching you all play it was a blast! I hope you do more of this in the future, as there's a surprising amount of depth once you discover some of the hidden interactions, such as how lye can one hit giant slimes. My biggest advice for you all is to make _much_ more use of your class repeatables. The tank should be using the armor restoration whenever he can and keep in mind that their main attack moves enemies. The bard inspiration can _stack_ up to 3 levels, applying -1 incoming damage, +1 outgoing damage and a chance to panic enemies. He has enough action econ to keep that at level 3 for the whole party, and still have a movement or action for each turn. Assassin should always attack from behind for extra damage (there's a pip on the enemy mini's base which shows front) and can stack sneak attacks and backstabs if they are in stealth when using a power (like blink). Manipulating choke points by blocking tiles is a valid strategy, as well. You can barricade and have the rogue stealth and the enemy will be forced to pathfind around, buying valuable turns to damage a smaller number of enemies.

@@mummer7337 Based on the reaction to the Wendys one shot which was at best considered a lame episode due to the overtness of the sponsorship (play this game and be OP if you eat Wendys during it) and the confusion it caused in places where Wendys isn't super common, and at worst the "sell out" point of the show due to Wendys practices (donating to political policies and politicians who are on the opposite side of CRs cast, Wendys not treating employees well, and concerns about migrant abuse from where they source their produce). Can't wait for the drama mess with this one.

Maybe it would've been better if it had been the developers/publishers, Resolution Games, who sponsored this video rather than Meta. The game is currently available on Steam as well, supporting many different VR headsets. Additionally they will be releasing the alpha version of a desktop PC version of the game on April 7, if VR isn't your platform of choice. Regardless, good game, good developer, maybe a bad choice, but I'm not going to give up on Critical Role because of this choice. We all make mistakes, and hope they take the feedback here to heart.

Y’all think Critical Role will ever feature a playthrough of Call of the Netherdeep? I was thinkin about it and I think it would only make sense that they play their own adventure and of course it would be awesome to see the main critical role cast’s take on it, but I understand if they’re too busy as it is. Would be dope tho and would give some people an easy and entertaining way to experience the adventure

The refresh rate of the headset, from what I’ve read and personally experienced, is the contributing factor to dizziness. I usually have it at 115Hz, and when it drops below 70Hz it is very disorienting. Every time I’ve had someone try VR for the first time, the response is just “oh my this is amazing”.

I think it sometimes depends on the game. I have a couple dozen VR games from over the past few years, but some of them I simply can't play for more than 5-10 minutes or I get motion sick, even now. (I read that if you push yourself too hard you end up training your brain, Pavlov-style, into getting nauseous every time you load a game that made you nauseous before. Not sure how accurate that is.) #MoreInfoThanYouWanted

If you’re prone to motion sickness when in a car or whatnot, then VR is more likely to make you dizzy. More games and apps nowadays have more “comfort” options to make experiences easier on the stomach. It does get easier the more you use it though.

Headsets / experiences that drop below 90hz tend to be worse. And there's some different things experiences can do to improve it. Also you become acclimatized over time. It's kind of like getting your sea legs, you get your "VR legs" so to speak.

I am personally not at all susceptible to motion sickness in vehicles or anything, but VR hits me hard with the nausea and headaches. I had to give up on it entirely after 2 attempts.
