Aerate your soil and add a bit of perlite. A tree spike wouldn't be off either. You don't want it sitting in standing water. Initial hole should be 2-3 times the diameter of the root ball. I use Carhartt Carthage safety glasses (the shaded ones) and I wear a neck gaiter over my face/mouth or at least a bandana.
