@Ulrik Moller In the different universes, the demons are always probably afraid of the “Slayer.” Because the slayers, possibly all on them but at the very least the one we are playing as, is an alternate universe version of the Demon’s Slayer, who is also their king, and also sealed. Of course the demons would be scared.
Why do I feel like the dark lord isn’t doom guy himself. Like only the strong can rule the demons. So I think the dark lord is jsut the manifestation of what the demons deem as their leader. In this case DoomGuy the only person strong enough to make demons fear him.

He's fighting the Dark Lord which has taken the form of the Slayer. Hugo Martin confirmed in a stream that there is no multiverse. Basically in Hell, the Dark Lord takes the form of whoever is the absolute most badass warrior. In our case, it's the Slayer.

Maybe when the Slayer first began crossing dimensions, he somehow crossed a threshold that put him into a state of quantum superposition where he is simultaneously the universe's greatest hero and its greatest threat.
Why do I get the feeling there's going to be a time loop / corrupt cycle shtick that happens at the end of the next DLC... As in, - the Slayer defeats the Dark Lord - as a result, goofs up the entire universe's balance (or something) - Father knew this would happen but does not have the means to prevent it - Slayer is forced to become the next Dark Lord to prevent the universe(s) imploding - and so on and so on - hence King Novik's words "for your fight is eternal"

I see the dark lord being an evil version of the slayer as a form of his. As the father says, “he is you, in their world”, that means the dark lord is like the doomslayer of hell, like an unstoppable force of evil as the slayer is an unstoppable force of good. This is one of his forms. Also, I think the slayer revived the dark lord because of what the first slayer testament (doom 2016) says: “He scoured the umbral plains with boiling blood, seeking vengeance against the *dark lords* who had wronged him”, which probably means the dark lords did something that angered the doomslayer. This could also be a possible indicator that there are multiple dark lords, all leading hells army’s.

The reason it's Doomguy himself is because the Dark Lord is supposed to be the strongest among all the demons (just like Doomguy is the strongest among the Sentinels) I believe the dark lord has no true physical form, but chose this specific form to be his physical form as a message to the Slayer: that he is his equal and opposite and he is what the Demons would deem the most powerful among them to lead.

there is a mod that removes the helmet, he is pretty much classic doomguy. the Dark lord took the form of the only thing hell itself fears, the Doomguy itself.

the dark lord is just an alternate reality doom guy caste away from heaven I mean they literally talk about dimensions and worlds so there obviously alternate reality in lore also would explain the different doomguy skins that are demonic version of him lookalike but ain't human imagine part 2 final battle is pretty much a deadpool alternate versions fighting in a war lol but it doomguys lol

Yes, The Dark Lord is the Doomguy of hell, or maybe he is the Doomguy of that dimension, since from what Khan Maykr said, Doomguy(Doom Slayer) is from another dimension, and The Dark Lord is the Doomguy of the Doom Eternal dimension.
This is a game where the force of destruction manifested as the Doom Slayer is actually the good thing, wiping out the creation which is ultimately evil, in order to protect a bastard world from the original one that is Hell. That's one of the most interesting concepts I've come across, in games that is for sure.

I think it's really funny that the writers made the ultimate antagonist, the Dark Lord himself, literally just Doom Guy from an alternate universe. That is ridiculous but in the best way possible

Gotta say whenever The Dark Lord was mentioned in the base game, which was less than a handful of times in the lore pages, I imagined him as a towering demonic/eldritch figure made of black fire with many whip like tendrils coming from his back and a soul sundering gaze. But it's just... a guy. I mean, I'm sure there's a justifiable in lore reason as to why but that doesn't make it not disappointing.
So this has two awesome implications, one the dark lord always takes a human form this is actually stated in the lower, but he takes the form of what his people deem the strongest since he's a god. So because the Doom Slayer is the only thing demons fear it's only natural that's the form he would take because it's what they deem to be the most powerful. The other implication is that this is actually a dune Slayer from another reality that basically became the king of hell, or maybe in reality this is what he's always looked like and the Doom Slayer we know is in fact created by the father specifically to combat him, basically the last God to stand against the dark lord. My only real complaint is that I hate he puts on that big suit of armor, I would have loved if he wore a suit similar to the Doom Slayer or hell just nothing at all he's just that raw he fights naked.
Imagine the final fight of the DOOM series just being a 1v1 duel match against The Dark Lord. Both of you on the same playing field. Similar to Jakob from DUSK
