Evinrude E-Tec 25hp impeller replacement

I made this short video because I couldn't find a single video on how to replace impeller or remove lower unit for my engine etec 25hp. Sorry for the parts that are missing but they're self-explanatory. To remove lower unit just remove bolts from lower unit and remove Inlet screen and it will reveal the shaft disconnect loosen the top one only. Hope this help somebody

You didn't show setting the impeller into the housing, clockwise or counterclockwise?

It doesn't really matter which way you put it for my experience as soon as you put your outboard in gear it's going to flip them the right way

Thanks for posting this. Seems i can handle this with help from your video. Also, I wondered what kinda gasket sealer and grease did you use? I've never worked on a boat motor, bought my etec 25 used, it runs great, and learning as I go.

Hello i used regular water pump sealant from the auto parts store. As for the grease any that u have on hand will work.

The service manual calls for 3M 847 but any non hardening gasket sealant will work. Permatex 80017 is a good affordable alternative

Well...yah..your torque wrench goes click! But as what setting ? Important part you led out

I don't use a torque wrench as you can see in the video I was just joking just tighten until it stops and give it half a turn

First time changing pump on my new to me etec. Having a hard time getting lower unit to drop all the way on my 2018 30hp etec. Upper bolt is loosened on shift bar but only drops about half to 3/4 of an inch and stops advancing furthet off. Shift lever on tiller is in neutral. Any advice on what i may be doing wrong or could be stuck???? Engine is mostly flawless as far as corrosion.

Did that packet of grease come in the pump kit?

I'm sorry I honestly don't remember if I had it on hand or it came with it just put Marine Grease if anything.

@@fishmanroly7450 for those that wish to know…..you do get the grease packet with a water pump kit. I got my water pump kit in he mail and replaced it yesterday. I was nervous about doing it u til I saw this vid. Again…..Thanks.

Was the etec going into s.a.f.e. mode? I'm taking mine apart in a couple minutes. 2015 25hp my motor was shutting down into safe mode.

@@jeffalden6769 yes an unfortunately it still is i even replaced the poppet valve. I need to find a marine mechanic to hook up the laptop and see what's going on.

@@fishmanroly7450 I got mine done tonight. Hope it cures my issue. Impeller had alot of memory. I did see the impeller and spring kit paperwork said 2010 and older replace the 2 springs included in the thermostat housing. 2011 and new discard the springs and only change impeller. The springs were causing overheating in older models

Use a little bit of grease to keep the key in place sorry I'm a truck driver not a videographer I just make some short quick videos to help the people that it can help.

I apologize like I said before I'm a truck driver not a video guy. There's plenty of videos on RU-vid but none of them showed how to separate the lower unit from the motor that's why I made this video all you have to do is loosen the top screwed behind the screen and the changing the impeller is pretty basic.
