Agreed. It is these high-speed, no-holds bar matches that make watching EVO videos awesome. I've been on a spree and I can definitively say that this is my favorite one so far.
This was the most street brawlin' match I'd seen the entire time. Nothing but fists and face. No special magic bullshit.. just Martial Arts vs Boxing. I loved every second.
The point is that since boxing is a martial art, there is no reason for it to be mentioned separately and distinctly from martial arts, since that presupposes that boxing is not a martial art.
This game hates you, Makoto. It's so sad. No strike-invincible attacks, shit that can get armor broken on wakeup (and all her limbs are liabilities against waking up opponents), and risking instant Tsurugi failures... He did the best he could here (every instant Tsurugi was on-point) and it still means nothing if Balrog does Buffalo Head on wakeup.
They are surprised because they thought he was only using it vs infiltrations pokes and because Rogs focus is considered sub-par considering other characters very strong focus attacks.
I think you guys are taking the "Japanese Gods" thing out of context. According to an interview, the whole god thing was something stupid created by Nuki during the Third Strike days. It included Nuki, Daigo, Sako, Tokido, and Haitani. Nuki said Haitani refused to be associated as a "god" because he thought it was pretty lame. Despite his unwillingness to participate, Nuki considers Haitani a god in fighting games.
are you kidding me..? makoto is the most explosive character in the game, and when played to perfection, is the most entertainin thing to watch in sf4, and i dont even play her. balrog is all about fundamentals, makoto is about guessing and earning every piece of damage you get. both can be interesting to watch, but makoto is more of like the michael jordan of sf whereas balrog is hakeem.
Because people don't know how to empathize with others, or they have a negative outlook on life. Either way, there is no denying that that was an amazing match. Anyone that says otherwise is either stupid or trolling.
Umm, let's see... 1/ The character wears a training bra. 2/ The character's voice is female. 3/ The character's alternate costume is a seifuku outfit (a japanese schoolgirl's uniform). 4/ You have the Internet and can't Google the character... Regardless of what the fools online think, this match-up is not good for Makoto. Balrog has an answer and then some for everything Makoto does. Yeh, you'll find some online fools who swear that Makoto has this game in the bag, and that they never experience any problems against a good Balrog, but the truth is to the contrary. In essence, they're both bullies, but in this match Balrog bullies Makoto... unfortunately.
All he meant was that alot of the heavy hitting japanese champs were getting knocked out of the tourney. (Haitani, Daigo, etc.) And how the fuck is he a hater? He respects the shit out of those guys.
Awesome match, but I didn't like the random ultras coming out during a block string or combo. Reminds me of people mashing out ultra moves online when they know they're going to lose.
You know it took me forever to get it through my friends head that Balrog beats Makoto. Facing them on top of lag online is nothing but pure annoyance. After seeing this match he is convinced that is bad. Better pokes, headbutt to ultra pushes her to the corner, hard to command grab at times because of his hit box, no true punish for dash punches on block, the list goes on. This is one of my hardest fights >_>
I disagree on the MJ to Hakeem comparison. Firstly, Michael Jordan had flair, however he was the most Fundamental Player of his Era. Hakeem was also super fundamental and he is actually more "closer" in Makoto like because the Dream Shake made you "guess" where he was going to go w/ the ball. Agreed on this being a great match though, since both players need to be in your face to start their gameplan.
Lol why does crowd have to say the names of the attacks the characters are already doing in game? I mean when your at the Movie theater. You don't just randomly here people saying "Autobots ROLL OUT!"
