Just got 2011 MR sst I LOVE IT!! Had an Sti before, honestly it’s better car than evo buuuut this Cali traffic killed me. Evo is a dream to drive beautiful transmission although I have reached it limit twice killed the throttle overheated tranny which I was a bit turned off about... what if I was tracking it. I heard people add radiators for the tranny which seems viable but none the less it’s a great daily driver
after moving from Sti to MR, I have to say they are remarkably similar, but I give the Evo the edge for maneuverability, and I give the Sti a relatively bigger edge in top speed cruising - much quieter and relaxed
Never had my sst overheat. And i drive it like i stole it a lot. You just need to let it get in optimal temp before going wot. That means like 20-30 min of normal driving. A sst evo will always be a lot faster than a manual Sti if hp is the same. So if you like having a slower car with an unreliable engine, sure, sti is better
what's something a potential buyer of an 08 EVO MR should look for? Like the wear and tear on the clutch packs, turbo leakage etc. A stock MR would be ideal i'm assuming
What worst decision i made when buying used 08 evo mr. Less then month of having car the valve body needed be replaces, my clutch pack could not hold pressure and slip during normal pull. Then my muffler exhaust pipes, was a rust bucket and fell off during highway run. Then down road later on my hid ballast passenger side short out, then my front wind shield crack from fly rock which was out of my control. Then 3 months later my timing chain stretch causing. What my money pit car i had to deal with. I finally had enough i got rid of POS evo x MR and couldn't be happier. I spend over 6K in fixing this shit up and was vivid as hell and will never touch mitsubishi car ever again.
Happy Evo 2012 MR owner. Sounds like previous owner didn't do constant maintenance. this car needs a shit load of TLC to run good all the time. I daily mine in the Winter to. Its an amazing car.
