Sometimes mental health conditions like body dysmorphia are *born* from physical deformities at birth, so to speak, and or during puberty. Though someone like *Joseph Merrick* may not have been psychologically unhinged in a violent manner, he did inexplicably suffer from congenital defects that made even others appalled of his appearance, undoubtedly multiplying his existential trauma by a tenfold at minimum. Mental health “anomalies” are clearly a spectrum, and I agree that there should be some form of psychological evaluation before a cosmetic operation- which for someone like Joseph Merrick a mere ‘cosmetic’ surgery would not cut it, only a reconstructive one would be suitable but I digress.

Впрочем любой адекватный хирург откажется делать подобные операции, это как минимум неэтично. It's sad when people believe a feeling they have is the truth, without evidence. It's lying to say you know something for certain when in reality it's just a feeling, regardless of whether that feeling is correct or not. You can choose to believe something with zero evidence if you like, but call it for what it is. It's what you have chosen to believe. Evidence and facts don't care about your feelings. Science is either mistaken by the evidence or lying about the evidence. So they are either incompetent or totally dishonest.
