EXPLAINING DISNEY #15
I take a look at the evolution of Daisy Duck, the loveable yet temperamental parter of Donald Duck and best friend of Minnie Mouse. Right from her first appearance as Donna Duck in 1937, through her classic shorts appearances between the 1930s and 1950s, to her stints on TV shows such as Quack Pack, Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse.

I really enjoy how Daisy has such a normal voice compared to the other characters, it makes her stand out in a nice way. Also, Adorable Couple is probably my favorite of the new shorts.

That is true. For someone who is voiced by a professional voice actress like Tress MacNeille it’s amazing how she almost used her normal speaking voice for the character. Now that Tress is 70 she likely can’t go as high pitched as she used to which is why Daisy and Dot’s voices do sound very similar not like they didn’t in the past but more than ever now if you watch the Animaniacs reboot you’d notice.

I know this is random but watching this got me nostalgic. When I was a little girl my dad got me a Daisy Plushy and I used to take it with me everywhere and even hold it when watching classic disney shorts like these on tv, so when I see Daisy.. I can't help but smile. I can never dislike her.

i remember when iwas a kid, an old black and white documentary where the animators were planning Daisy and she's alive on a paper sheet and they were planning her behaviour and she did everything they mentioned and when they said "angry, temperamental" she started jumping angry as Donald and broke her purse and ripped her hat and clothes, and the animators said "no no, we can't have a girl like that" or something like that

Quackpack's Daisy design is the best. She isn't just _"Donald Duck but with a different pink shirt and a bow- and maybe like a ponytail or something like that",_ she's her own character. I really hope for Daisy to appear in DuckTales 2017 with Quackpack's design.

I never liked that, she had her own appearance already solified at that point and I the whole designs looks very dated now. And she is meant to fit well with Donald the same way Minnie does with Mickey. And breasts on a duck is just wierd.

@@sarasamaletdin4574 Having couples to look like "siblings" isn't the best idea, specially since Minnie & Daisy have the same last name as Mickey & Donald. (Weird) And Like.. I don't usually see people saying "Oh i like Minnie/Daisy", people only talk about Mickey and Donald. Why? Because Minnie and Daisy are basically the same character as their boyfriends. Minnie is a little more flashed out -and less rude- than Daisy tho, since she got an iconic new design in the Mickey Mouse shorts. -And Daisy is still a female Donald Duck, sadly- Both of them deserve more than just being "the main character's female version and his love interest" All of Disney's main female characters deserves more tbh. Edit: Oh, and Daisy always had breasts

@@Quinhala11 Daisy is pretty fleshed out in the comics, but well thats not helping alot since she is not Donalds girlfriend there, just the woman he has been dating for a long time while she is dating his cousin from time to time(the lucky one, not the stupid one). She is also quite possible a cousin of Donald. she is called Aunt from the pack and calles grandma duck grandma.

I think Daisy’s my favorite of the Micky and friends group. Her shorts on Mouse Works where Minnie has to put up with her being ditzy and bratty made me laugh out loud. The episode where she forced Minnie to model bows for her and when Minnie made her a pie and Minnie tried delivering it while Daisy kept inadvertently keeping Minnie from doing it. Those ones are so classic to me. I like Daisy cause she can get away with being a little unsavory but you still like her.

Personally I tend to favor her Quack Pack and House of Mouse designs mostly because I think she looks good with the hair styles from those shows as well as her personality. Hopefully she shows up in the new Duck Tales.

I personally like 1930s-1950s Daisy. The 1940s Diasy in the red dress is my favourite. I even prefer her to sound like a duck and not like a human. I always thought there was a disconnect with Donald sounding like a duck and Daisy sounding human. The Fab 5 should be the Sensational 6 to include Daisy.

I love the her new look. I assume that it's only for the one episode but the homage to the 50s look is so rare and eye catching that it would be a nice update as well as a reason for new audiences to looks at how daisy came to be how she is.

Aaaaand Ducktales Daisy just freaking comes in and OWNS damn near most interpretations of Daisy. She's still her usual sassy, temperamental self, but she's also kind and understanding towards others, ESPECIALLY Donald. It also doesn't hurt that Donald has proven himself to be a dedicated family man who deeply cares for his adopted nephews as if they were his own.

I remember going to Disney World when I was little and my dad bought me a Daisy Duck hat. Because of that, I’ve had a long time obsession with Daisy. Quack Pack was fantastic, anarchic, surreal and well developed, ditto House of Mouse, and what used to make me laugh was in House of Mouse Daisy looked totally different in the cartoons to her as the usher with the ponytail! My favourite Daisy look is the Quack Pack and the Three Mousketeers, she's beautiful there, but my favourite Daisy cartoon is the House of Mouse one with Minnie where they have an unwelcome "Lion Lion Lion!" guest, it's beyond funny! I love Daisy, she's direct, pretty, sometimes tempered and always fashionable, she's way better than Minnie in my mind.

Great video. As curiosity, Daisy has a brother who is the father of Huey, Dewey and Louie, making her their aunt. About the current Ducktales series, Daisy might appear in some episodes as happened with Gladstone but there is little chance that she would become a main character when there are several female ducks already in the show: Webbigail, Mrs Beakly, Roxxane, Lena, Magica and Della.

Daisy sounded so familiar yet so strange at the same time. I came here to check the character design and voice actor, then I realized I don't recognize her as much as Donald because of localization as I know the older entries in the series in another language and voice. Daisy Duck in the currently airing Ducktales has a lot to love about.

11:57 Russi Taylor (voice for Minnie Mouse since the 80's, who sadly just passed away) also provided a voice for Daisy in Fantasia 2000, I believe in the part prior to Donald's Ark. She screamed.

I remember seeing a skit where Daisy gets mad at Donald ‘s temper. Like cold glare , ice and all, and boy does Donald notice. For someone to have such a hot temper to be shut down so quickly, it alwayed impressed me. Like Girl Power!

Aww, this was so interesting. My late dad, Bob Gregory drew many of the “Daisy Duck’s Diary” and “Daisy and Donald” comics and some of the covers here showed his art. Thank you.

Just found this channel, and I'm really enjoying the content! One minor nitpick, though--you said "How To Have an Accident" was the last classic Donald cartoon, but I believe that distinction goes to "The Litterbug" from 1961. Otherwise, though, this was really accurate and informative! If I had to choose a favorite Daisy moment, it would be the therapist scene in "Donald's Dilemma" where she breaks down and admits that she doesn't care about the world; she wants Donald to herself. Great moment.

Thanks so much. Yes, that’s somewhat correct. I should have phrased myself better - How to Have an Accident was the final traditional Donald Short, in that it was the last one released theatrically. There were five more “educational” shorts that followed including Litter Bug, Donald and the Wheel, Steel & America, Fire Survival Plan and Family Planning. None of those released theatrically, however. Thanks again for the kind words 😊

I grew up reading Donald Duck comics, and I realized something. I don't know if this is the same in other languages but in the Dutch comics, Huey, Louie, and Dewey refer to Daisy as 'aunt Daisy', meaning that they're related. Does this mean that Donald and Daisy have a relationship while being relatives of each other? We know that the nephews are Della Duck's children and Della's the sister of Donald. The only way this would make sense is that Daisy is the sister of Della's husband, the father of the Huey, Louie, and Dewey, which we don't know who that is.

I still got many of the Daisy´s Diaries from the 50s. Them belonged to my grandma´s brother, so I read them since I was a toddler. Her stories are some of my favorite.

Even as a young kid, I remember subconsciously deciding that Daisy was cool. Maybe it was her design, but I think it was also her attitude - that kind of no-nonsense, big sister type, which I was drawn to back then and still am today, she’s awesome!

You forgot to mention Daisy in The Legend Of The Three Caballeros! She starts of by BREAKING UP WITH DONALD, only to procedurally shown with her prominent temper, but also as someone who is willing to forgive Donald in most circumstances. As of the end of season one, the two aren't currently together.
