Even when Red, Blue, Lorelei, and Agatha left the Pokemon League, this guy was the only veteran who remained an Elite Four member. Will replaced Lorelei while Karen replaces Agatha. Koga got promoted to the Elite Four, so Janine took his place as Fuschia City Gym Leader. It's amazing how two Elite Four members are replacements while the other two are veterans who went up one rank.

Was Bruno the Saffron Gym leader before he joined the Elite Four? In my head canon I like to think he left his best student, the Karate King who gives a Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan, in charge of the gym but then Sabrina appeared with her psychic types and destroyed the dojo. Rather than kick the trainers out of their dojo Sabrina simply built her own gym right next to it. Following his defeat at the hands of Red the Karate King goes into exile to train and become stronger, seeing himself as failing his master Bruno in his duty to the fighting type gym.

Yeah he uses the teams red did in the Manga or Pokemon Origins I wished he used Scyther against Onix cause I wanna know how well would that go XD

There is a theory that says giovanni was once of the elite four who happened to be gym leader when he created the rocket team

@@eduardosalcedolopez8423 Pokemon Gold and Silver Beta had Giovaani and Misty in the elite four. However they were basically placeholders for Will and Karen I'm pretty sure(correct me if I'm wrong).

Cool Fact: Other than Lance who became champion, Bruno is the only original member of the Indigo Plateau to remain, he also ranked up in terms of challenger as he was originally the second of the four, but in the Jotho games he’s number three

If you ask me Onix needs a evolution that is part fighting type since Bruno the fighting type specialist uses Onix in all of his appearances despite it not being a fighting type. It would finally give Bruno a reason for why he uses Onix.
