There are certain hidden values attacks in smash have. for example Zelda's magic moves are classified as such and so are boosted by magic based spirits. PSI has its own category in the game but Ness has magic based properties in his PSI (being multi hit, giving off sparkles, and having the magic sound effect) Lucas' PSI is electric based in Smash even though PK love isn't an electrical attack in Mother 3
When Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out, I remember thinking Lucas was some secret character in Earthbound I missed out on. Then my friend told me no he was the main protagonist of his own game Mother 3. I was like "There was another Earthbound game for the SNES?" And he said no it's a Japanese-only game for the GBA. I said "Well why they added a character from a Japan-only game to Smash Bros.?" He replied "I would say it's the same reason for the Fire Emblem series but they never released it in North America" Note this was before the English patch translation but yeah I was so glad to have played the game years later to learn what this poor guy went through. I'm glad he's gotten more confident over the years since he most likely move past all the tragic deaths in his life.
What’s funny is the only reason that Lucas is in smash is because Saukari didn’t know Mother 3 was never gonna be localized and didn’t find out until last minute. He couldn’t take Lucas out so he had to change all Mother 3 mentions in trophies and stuff to say Japan Only. Then he just said “Screw it” and kept Lucas in. Imagine people that knew earthbound and played it and never knew Mother 3 seeing Porky (or pokey which ever way) as a boss in sub space.
I love how the background in Lucas’ final smash for Smash Ultimate is the same one used in the final boss of Mother 3! It’s such a great detail that didn’t need to be here, but I’m so glad is.
When I found out about this character, I was very happy because, it's the first time I've seen a character that has my name, and I'm Brazilian, the pronunciation and the character itself I was just enchanted :)
Why this video was boring :/ I'm sorry to tell that but Lucas only appeared in his game, smash bros and mario maker. If you watch a character evolution it's for watching his evolution isn't it ?
funny how people think ness is stronger or braver than lucas when the boy literally gets homesick and sad when he misses his mom, which affects his ability to fight in battles

Don't make me cry. I loved all things in Mother 3. If I had a Job with Nintendo I would work in a Remake for EarthBound Begginings, EarthBound and Mother 3. And will be located in America and Europe. It's EarthBound: New Starting. And a Kid Icarus Remake. And Ice Climber sequel with story.

@@thedimondtimbs1641 1. I said "cyborg dragon/dinosaur thing" because I forgot at the time what it was called. 2. Claus committed suicide BY the reflected lightning. He wanted to join his dead mother. There are multiple indications of this like "The Masked Man looked around as if searching for something" and "Claus, come join your mother."
I feel like Claus should've been an echo fighter or atleast a palette swap like Alph to Olimar. Also imagine if Claus would have a normal grab with Ness's throws and everything else would be the same or slightly different from Lucas.
Tina Zhen Actually, he does. If you get all your party members unconscious, while Lucas is the main party member, he’ll pop up in the game over screen. Eventually you’ll be asked if you want to play again. Selecting Yes makes Lucas stand up and smile, holding his hand up high.

I hope we get Mother 3 soon. I think it's odd that one of the first thing Bower said went he became president was the peach thing if he didn't have plans on the way. Also you didn't show any of Lucas from the N64 footage. Maybe that's cuz there was no game play, but Lucas and Claus we're in the E3 trailer for the game.
Wow I love the art progression of how they did from brawl to the latest smash games sorta like mortal kombat where they don't get more realistic they get more cartoony -_- just wow

couple things that could’ve been included in my opinion: -Development photos and sketches from EarthBound 64/Mother 3 for the 64DD and (later N64) - these are the first appearances of Lucas. -Chapter 4 of Mother 3 - though the older version of Lucas from Mother 3 was shown in the video, the footage is from Chapter 8, which is not the first appearance of Lucas’s older sprite. -The DLC announcement trailer for Lucas in Sm4sh (Lucas comes out of Nowhere) -The introduction cutscene of World of Light (I don’t know why subspace emissary was there, but not WoL)
We ain't getting a fourth one, it wouldn't make sense. Giygas' story is over, as is Porky's. Everyone related to Porky that had enough power to be a main villain is gone. I'd love a 1+2+3 release though. Especially with a remaster since 3D games are way easier now than they were in the 64 days. (More people knowledgeable on 3D modeling, as well as engines and tools premade to create your game)

I wish more Earthbound/Mother references existed in our modern world. That series is such a cult classic, but it's so unheard of for most people. It makes me kinda sad
