Evolution of the WAD is a show describing the history, legacy, and content of Doom mapping styles and themes. This episode covers Matt "MTrop" Tropiano and his far-reaching contributions to the community of mappers. Whether it's 1995 or 2015, you can find something of MTrop's throughout the ages!
This episode ran FAR longer than I anticipated, though I think you'll find there's very little downtime with regards to constructive discussion: I will likely plan these episodes to be 3 to 3 1/2 hours in the future. You may also notice a subtitle in one spot, as I'm looking into a little editing when necessary for these videos. As a result, there will be a little more time between the twitch.tv broadcast and the upload here, but it should produce a slightly better video here. (One day I'll get the mapset updates right every time, one day!)

Something random I just noticed: In "The Best WAD Ever!" Matt clearly shows that he knows unpegging textures can help with texture alignment on windows and whatnot. However, in the entire WAD, every last map, he only ever unpegs textures on the lower side. In "Dimensions of Time," he does seem to have figured it out though.

That "your grave" thing shows up in a lot of WADs. It's found towards the end of ZBlood's Thief-inspired secret level, and there's one in Reelism's Castlevania map that says "19??-any second now"

It's a lot more complex, you can do a lot of things in Build, but it's not as easy as making a level for Doom.

dont understand why the player sets UV skill level and then plays with clipping and god mode. imho clipping in god mode does not show the maps as they were intended to be.

For what it's worth, I probably wouldn't have gotten through those levels even on the easiest difficulty at the time. And, even if I had dedicated enough practice time to it, it still might not have been fast enough to present in the time available. Sometimes a cheat-addled preview is the best I can do to show a map off! If you truly want to see the maps as they were intended, I highly recommend playing and experiencing them yourself. The show is designed as discussion-with-active-presentation, not as a serious and rigorous walkthrough where people happen to talk about what's going on.
