@@relentlessphenix5665 yeah, TSW looks great, (until you look about 50ft from the tracks) but the main joke here was about how there was barely any real improvement for years and years... like... until 2019, trainz literally looked the same for as long as i can remember, and TS is still miles behind graphically
For me it was Microsoft Train Simulator. Been years since I've played it though. Think I have one of the Trainz games too, IDK which one, I found it at a thrift store and then it got buried under all the other games I've found at thrift stores.
N Class 468 nah, I had that crappy Microsoft Train Sim and didn’t understand what the objective was! I don’t remember it being any good... I think there was the ICE 2 that I drove because it was the one my mum set up for me when I wanted to play (bare in mind I was 3 or 4 y/o)
One of my biggest pet peeves from Microsoft Train Sim was the in cab view didn't rock back and forth when in motion. Everything was so static and lifeless- no sense of motion. Saw a couple in this video that put in rocking, and it adds a lot. Can't wait until the day we can cross GoogleMaps and trains so we can virtually run any train anywhere in reality
I think the bve5 is the best free train sim game any more. It made by railway fans, and some authors publish vehicle data created with true performance.
Oh man, I remember Train Simulator 2009. To be honest, I'm not that surprised to see how the graphics kind of stagnated and did not advance. The gameplay was in the experience, not the visuals. Looks like that is no longer true because the 2019 and 2020 versions look amazing! :o
MSTS was my childhood. Then I transitioned to the Trainz Series games and I must say it left a great impression on me. So much so that I have created 1 or 2 full scale routes with it.
Me too! I loved the Tokyo commuter line, so exciting to drive! Thanks to having enjoyed this game during my childhood I work as a train driver in real life now :)
Train simulator 14-now is pretty much the same garbage rebranded a year up annually with very minor changes and more DLC cash grabs, and now scumtail rereleasing TSW 2 times to make you pay for a update that should’ve been free. Load of toxic garbage.
@TransportSpotter Leo Then the question is, why train drivers of the CIS Railways and subways claim that the simulators are the most realistic? And why is ZDSimulator used as a simulator for machinists?
To this communication I would propose a polish train simulator "MaSzyna" it's very popular simulator of polish electrical and diesel locomotives. It's still actualisating simulator, from year 2002. It's actual version is available to download on it's official site
I must say, openbve is the best one, because it's free. Some trains are a bit complicated tho, like the Eurostar, you have to click on (I think) end, home (for five seconds), insert and delete. It has so many routes, because it's open, anyone can make routes and trains for it.
No love for lego loco. the only train simulator i ever played in my childhood and played the crap out of it, with its sandbox gameplay of being able to put up buildings/ houses and stations, and wherever you wanted the track to go.
@@wpeacock2007 nice. My main computer is still an xp machine. Haha have a windows 7 cheap laptop that i use rarely. But the majority of the time im on the xp machine. Built it from binned parts myself. Dell precision 370 p4 2.8ghz, nvidia 8600gt (512mb) 4gb ram and a few hdds. Hoping to find another mobo that fits in the case that has 2 pci express slots so i can run a second 8600gt in sli.
Yeah, quite a few of these dates are wrong, like World of Subways Vol 2 and 3 were not released in 2008, 2 was released in 2009-2010 and 3 was released in 2012
NKProductions2014 if it had all the features it’s supposed to have (like multiplayer and scenario creator) it would be really good, until then, I’m gonna stick to train simulator with full graphics, I prefer the look of TS over TSW anyway.
LazyGamerScotland yes, it was one of the first features ever promised for the game, right towards the beginning of the game development. It’s been promised but delayed ever since.
TrainMaster15 Train simulator (or railworks 2) has 3 distinctive phases, there’s the pre 2014 phase where the sounds and models aren’t that good, also route detail isn’t fantastic, then you have the mid phase, where the game is pushed to its limits, things actually look very nice and very realistic, this lasted 2014 through to 2018, the game was basically the same from 2014 to 2018, towards the end of 2018 new DLC was higher quality and 3rd party developers were really good at pushing the trains themselves to their limits, with a lot of train features and high quality sounds, but the game was the same, just pushed to its limits. Now we have the modern phase, this is the result of the 64bit update, allowing the game to be potentially pushed well beyond the past limits, you’ll find this on many scenarios with the number of AI going up, I expect in 4 years we’ll find DTG releasing very long high quality routes which will be great. But at that point TS will peak, and by then hopefully TSW will have all its features that it should’ve had from launch.
00:50 I recognize those clips... they are from a youtuber called bombs321 he was making a narrow gauge route but it he lost it (i don't remember how) but i remember that route because i used too watch those vids when i was younger and wish i had the skill too make something like that.
