I can see now why Nintendo is so protective of Mario nowadays. They weren't always that way. They used to take risks, and as a result, we got games like these, as well as three animated series and a live-action movie. Meanwhile, Sega never stops taking risks with Sonic the Hedgehog, with varying results.
