Tom and Ewan are absolutely adorable. I love how Tom is a full extrovert and is explaining the hand biting scene while Ewan is being an absolute cinnamon bun and is like "Yeah. I'm in".
In the books it was definitely intentional, and rumored that he found lucerys body and took his eyes out and gave it the the daughter of lord baratheon that made fun of him . I like how the show humanized aemond a bit by making it an accident , bc now it’s harder to truly hate the greens .
@@bdixie3290 OMG!!!! That sounds like great writing…. I wish I could read the books…. However these days I barely have time for anything fun or relaxing cuz I’m always on the move anyway thank you for sharing….
@@littlesebastian4389 dude he did so good in that show it’s crazy, dude will be able to play anyone he wants in anything he wants with the range he’s shown now
@@littlesebastian4389 I didn't know Ewan was going to play Aemond, I was frankly shocked when I saw good he does as this cocky, arrogant and powerful character. Considering, like you said, his role in TLK is so different. It's very impressive to me that he can pull off both the arrogant, spiteful prince and the innocent monk with a bowl cut. I do think Aemond suits him more though. His face is very sharp, which lends itself much better to more evil characters, imo.
@@stark8837 For sure he is going to rival Joffrey Baratheon and Little Finger for characters iconic for being loved to hate. He does have the look to be very snide and menacing.
I disagree that he's a villain, I think he's more an anti-villain kind of type. I think they are going to turn Aemond into this show's Jaime Lannister.
6:03 Yeah, I'm glad Ewan says this. So many people are hard on Aemond even though losing an eye as a kid is a BIG deal, one not so easily forgotten. There's always other Dragons, but you only have two eyes.
@@StarrySoakedSky idc if he’s retarded. He attacked the girls and the boys defended them. He was older than them too. He’s just a little bitch and he always has been
They’re hard on him because he started and provoked it. Even he himself admitted his eye was worth the dragon. No one should feel pity towards him losing an eye. He paid the price for the largest dragon in the story
@@leoblaougrana289 I feel kind of bad for him, the way the expanded Aemondverse is blowing up with all these crazy stans. He's going to be living like Kit Harington was after GOT S5, hiding harder than Osama Bin Laden
@@daniellemusella1594 Ewan has anything but a babyface.... Are you thinking of the Aegon actor? Hes older than the Aemond actor and looks a decade younger. Ewan looks 35 with that mans man jawline, and chiseled cheekbones. AeGONs actor, the one with the round face, is damn near 30. 28 as of this month.
@@spoons250 You are quite right Ewan looks older than his actual age, and the Aemond impersonation makes him look much older. the factions that the actor has, do not help you look like a child, I think that when he is 35 he will look much older. Round faces will definitely always give you a more youthful look. The actor who plays Aegon I see more of a square face than a round one.
Not going to give spoilers why or how but just know Aemond will become a main character like Rhaenyra or Daemon are, his character in the future of the story becomes even better.
It’s not that he doesn’t get the chance to talk a lot, he doesn’t want to. He’s a very private person, and it’s why he to go to press tours, do talk shows or interviews.
@@coochiedestroyer5_ I definitely get that energy, which is totally understandable. Outside of inference, have you seen any writing or something that confirms this?
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t I’m pretty sure his co stars have spoken about it. At least his co starts on on another project did. He has no social media accounts and literally nothing about him online apart from his IMDb account and Wikipedia. People really didn’t even know how old he was, but it’s on Wikipedia now. Not sure how they found out or if it’s even accurate. It’s been debated on Reddit.
Aegon's actor looks like such a nice person when not in character, that laugh was adorable. And i loved Ewan in the last kingdom but god was he born to play Aemond! the whole cast of this show is brilliant, i have not seen such perfect casting choices in a long time!
@@user-ys7eh9kx9p returning the egg to his niece and picking up the crown and helping his brother ascend the stairs in his final days were great shows of a layered character, though. his is a calculated impulsiveness i enjoy watching!
Yeah I’ve went back and forth from green to black and back and forth again throughout the season, the writing’s been so good. Team Black is more relatable and likable so we gravitate more towards them but all Alicent has been doing is holding up a mirror to the truth that EVERYONE wants to deny. She might turn into a “Cersei” in future seasons, but she wasn’t Cersei in this one. And even if I was going to be team Black, Aemond is such a cool and interesting character that he’s my favorite.
@@hitchcockisthegoat I have been team black for a number of years now after reading Fire and Blood. Alicent will never be a new Cersei, she is not without her faults but she has a kind heart. I have always had a soft spot for the wielders of Dark Sister, Visenya, Bloodraven, and the one and only Deamon. He was my after Bloodraven my favorite from the Targaryen bloodline, but after the show, I think he was gone past Bloodraven in my view.
@@Ater_Swe daemon can't out weight the rest of the awful on team blacks, so 🤷🏻♀️ green for me. Plus, I simply can't STAND his wife. Am I _supposed_ to be liking her...??
The fact that we don't have nothing from Ewan outside the behind the scenes of HOD, I mean from his life outside the series, makes these few moments of him, talking and smiling so precious. It's a total different feeling see him talking. 😍
Evan mitchell is such a good cast for this one, no offense to his look, but he has the perfect evil smile, and scheming face for when can he kill his enemies. It's really perfect.
Also in The Last Kingdom, he played a lovable warrior priest who was a bit socially awkward. A great character who I was genuinely gutted at when he got killed.
Can’t tell if Ewan is just a little shy during these bts or if he’s applied some method acting to the role but regardless he has been flawless as Aemond
i mean he's a very reserved person. we barely know anything about him besides the roles he's played and i think he's just quite introverted in general (in my opinion of course). he seems more like a laid back guy who prefers to keep to himself outside of his roles
@@jamescpalmer He played an entirely different sort of character for years on The Last Kingdom, IMO his work on that show is likely far closer to the man himself - soft spoken, shy, unassuming. He was also a younger actor then, less skilled. The lighting & camera work on The Last Kingdom was much more naturalistic as well. On HOTD I notice Ewan is intentionally working his "angles" as models often do, holding his head & face in ways that transform his look on camera greatly. The difference between Aemond's appearance & the actor's in the behind the scenes footsge is wild. He's altered his physique, posture, voice, even the phrasing of his speech with his portrayal of Aemond; just astonishing physical mastery. Especially considering he's only using 1 eye.
@@xajaso Ah I haven't watched the last Kingdom yet, I've read all the books though, one of the best series ever written. I'm dubious the show could come close to the works so I haven't bothered watching. Which character did he play?
Ewan portrayal of Aemond reminds me of Stephen Dillane portrayal of Stannis, he fits so much into that role, you can feel he is Aemond just like you had with Stannis
@Lala Emm To be honest, the showrunners got Stannis doing oit of character things and teleporting around so often, than the guy just get lost amd had to ask Liam wtf was going on.
@@jamie_d0g978yeah they ruined stannis if you look at what they said about the magical elements of game of thrones just goes to show that they ruined it because they were lazy and didn’t want to dive into the mystical and magical aspects that make up nearly every character expect for Jamie Cersei and others but mostly dany, Jon, bran and stannis have those big aspects and they just ruined it
@@andrewforte3852 isn't his name Daeron? And yes, they made him more likable thankfully, i remember hating Aemond when i was reading the books. Same for Alicent, i feel more torn between the blacks/greens now
Just imagine Ewan Mitchell typing his name on RU-vid. He would be hella shocked to see what we all have been doing. From his snarky dialogues to his power walks to his hands, God I have seen so many compilations. He must be have a big smirk on his face thinking how crazy we all are after him. And this no social media thing is literally adding fuel to our curiosity and intrigue.
Ewan has a fantastic palpable presence. As soon as I saw him on screen I knew they nailed the casting of Aemond. That smirk is perfection. Truly not a miscast person in this show. Eve Best as Rhaenys and Steve Toussaint as Corlys are also standouts to me. Never thought too much about the characters from the books but Eve came on screen looking like true royalty and Steve looked like a majestic veteran sea captain before his first line. I was actually doubting Matt Smith as Daemon before episode one - in my head Matt was going to be too cheeky-cute and lovable to play a brutal snakey bastard like Daemon - but obviously my fears were misguided. Emma and Olivia are amazing scene stealers with the way they can portray so much emotion and tension in their faces, gestures and tone. And Paddy Considine, good god, he turned Viserys from a bumbling inept king into a truly tragic figure. I'm sad that there will be such a long wait for season two and I hope the quality of the show stays at this high level.
Good thing is he seems to keep on moving up! I first knew him as Osbert from The Last Kingdom (a wholesome momk) so it was fun to see him be a badass prince here
Kudos to the team!!! HAHAHA the sibling fight scene of Ewan and Tom represent us all fighting our sib. 😁 How adoring it is to see Ewan have an interview at the same time he's being shy. 🤣 Their actors truly complement each other .
The fight got criticized for having "too many cuts". I would have said "no" had it not been for people actually counting the cuts we saw, and yes, they were A LOT. I think some people had a hard time following it because of that.
@@samf.s.7731 Well, how? Sure lots of cuts but, it was overall an easy conflict to follow, if the viewer knows why Aegon is being pursued But yeah, less cuts would be nice overall, as is the case most of the time
I've got the biggest mancrush on Ewan Mitchell, what a BAMF. As a person, and the character he plays. Dude's committed to the role man, big props to him
I do think he was spot on, but his Aemond has been "less outrageous" and "dialed down" compared to book Aemond at this point tbh. Also, more nuanced. It's the writing for sure. He's significantly "less charming" in the book, which I gotta say, I actually was thoroughly entertained by that.
The acting of ewan in the last scene the mix emotion regret.. guilt.. sadness of what happen to his cousin… at the same time shock face , amazing acting in a short clips👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this show was near perfect, I think it saved the (live action part of) the franchise, in many people's eyes. The writing, acting, sets, camerawork, effects, directing, editing,... all done with passion. Beautiful to come see to life, true art.
Aymond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) is real ice, just as hard and eerily cold. So much so that his piercing coldness and indifference can be seen in the depths of violet pupils. Only the person chosen by him can melt the ice and fill the void in his black, like Vhagar, heart.
SAY HIS NAMEEEEEEE : EWANNNNNNN MITCHEEEEEEEEELLLLLL EVERYBODY !!!!! Incredible talent loved him since Last KIngdom but now the sky is the limit for this impressive bloke ! He gonna go places !!!
HotD did a perfect job casting Ewan Mitchell as Aemond. Man deserves an Oscar for his superb acting. Every time I watch an episode I'm waiting for his scenes. *Epic*
I can consoom this Ewan Mitchell guy whole day. Some people are really charismatic - This guy, Tywin, Tommy Shelby, Oswald Moseley from Peaky Blinders to name a few.
