We vaccinated the does and ewes for Clostridium perfringens C&D and Tetanus. These diseases are common in sheep, goats and their young so the ewes and does are vaccinated about a month before they deliver. This boosts the immunity in the colostrum for the lambs and kids and protects them as well. We removed the Dorper ram from the ewes and put him in with the other 3 rams. It took longer than anticipated for them to settle down, but it all worked out in the end. We have a doe that Dillon had played too rough with and bit her left front and rear legs and her ears. She is very painful, has some infection, and is not eating well. We are treating her with antibiotics, pain medication and propylene glycol drenches to keep her sugar levels up. She is hanging in there but not out of the woods yet. She is carrying twins and due the end of February. Dillon is now wearing a basket muzzle. He can eat and drink with it but he can NOT bite. We have to stop the injuries to the livestock. He has injured 2 sheep (pulled the ends of their tails off) and now this doe. He will also be neutered. We suspected Lillie was pregnant and today she had her puppies! She had 6 females and 2 males. Garrett is the sire, and all are doing well so far. Thanks for joining us at Norwal Farm.
