That's a very useful tool. Especially for physically impaired, elderly or just those who can't hoist a sail up 50+ feet.

The use of Lithium Ion batteries is a bit of a concern, but probably unavoidable at the moment. They and Lithium poly batteries can be a real hazard on a boat as well as off a boat. I’ve used a lot of them for Cheap Diving Torches (excellent and cheap fluorescent green ones off EBay, Plus Radio Controlled model aircraft, that use a lot of the 18650 size batteries, that must be recharged in explosion proof bags. On my flight to the USA in 2016, the 1865 batteries were not allowed onboard due to the fire risk, and had to pick up replacements when in the USA. So great care Must be taken to charge them at a slow rate, don’t overcharge them, and keep as close an eye open for any battery that gets physically damaged, and get it off the boat asap ? It was worth having these when looking after my father who was suffering from Vascular Dementia, so having him Supervise the Construction of quad otters, gliders etc then flying them brought home a lot of his childhood memories, plus the model aircraft and engines he bought and built for me as a child. Given the bsttery care of the Lithium, I haven’t had a single bad incident with them so far, but I think I’ll restrict it to having only one winch on board, with speed of ditching it over the side as needed being an important factor. Hopefully Superior Battery replacement options become available very soon, as a huge range of products, from E Bikes, Cars, Buses, and electric outboards through to power packs, are now in desperate need of something orders of magnitude superior in both Capacity and Safety. Price of the Wincher 2 from chandlers is at around £2,000. Frankly that’s one heck of a bargain imho.🤔Bob.👍🌟🌟🌟❤️
