In my humble opinion, our purpose is just to experience this life. If there needs to be an "assignment" for it, then maybe it is to do our best to live life as the most authentic version of ourselves. Mormonism does a great job at steering people away from being authentic, unique, and individual.

Became aware of your channel today...love it! Never been a Mormon, lived in Utah my whole life. Lately I've been enjoying videos pertaining to ancient civilizations because so many new discoveries are being made. My question to you, are Mormons shying away from talking about ancient Mesoamerica these days? It seems that way. They use to have guided tours to that area but I don't hear anything about that anymore. Maybe because they've given up on all the weird stories in the book of Mormon that don't jive with modern archeology?

The fact that it is widespread for humans in the LDS church to be disconnected from feelings is criminal. It leads to so many horrible outcomes including being unable to feel your feelings and protect yourselves from danger; to becoming so disconnected from feelings that people become psychopaths.

Totally. It's messed up how many people emotionally cut off from birth and how to healthily relate to our emotions. Myself included. We gotta talk about this stuff and create spaces where emotions are welcome and understood.

@ (1:07:48) Wow! Talk about "divide and conquer"... on steroids. What a horrible experience to have to overcome. I feel for you Stephanie. So glad you’re re-developing your mind and realizing how you were taken advantage of on multiple levels. Your words are a revelation.

Ya’ll… I’m ready to try psychedelics as a healing modality. But I’m at a loss for where to go. I don’t have friends I’d feel comfortable being that vulnerable with.

At 38, I feel I was lied to by my parents, leaders, and siblings about all these truths coming forward about the church. Thats going to be a hard thing to overcome as a Exmo. Great content!

I could related with the perspective that you’re doing all the things and hustling your whole life to be blessed or avoid tragedies. Then you reach a crossroad where you think you’ve done all the things and your life is shit. I really thought I would never give up on the church but I just had to. Once I did, I realized I was on this wheel that I didn’t even need to be on. I thought I was pursuing the purpose of life but I was not even experiencing the real purpose.

true spirituality IS very scientific and doesn't rely on belief at all- non duality or avaita vedanta is all about "self inquiry". finding out about self/GOD thru inquiry asking questions about the nature of reality the first question is who am I? WHO is looking thru my eyes? what is ALWAYS now? to find GOD ONE MUST reinterpret the whole concept of GOD-but who is the one seeking God? who is the one that believes in this self that will go somewhere later? there is ONLY now AND there is ONLY here. so nobody goes anywhere else. because there is no "else". there is only what is happening now now now. now is eternity and now is god and now is what you are.. there is no seeker. there is no self. there is only now there is only GOD. it is the separate self that doesn't exist...

I'm intrigued that you left Mormonism but now have embraced "spirituality", having left one cult for another.

Interesting words. I've often placed spirituality in the realm of what I call mentality. But I've often felt that the word Spirituality is a BS cult-like word created to sell another RELIGIOUS bs storyline. Basically I feel mentality is dealing with things that are within the mind, memory, and emotions, that is physically untouchable. Therefore not a part of this physical world. But I like your words.

I understand how leaving one belief system for another might seem offputting and when I also say I'm an athiest I am told I'm in another cult too. My journey involved exploring different aspects of spirituality beyond organized religion. It's been a personal exploration of values, mindfulness, and a deeper connection with the world around me, free from dogmas.

@@alphanumericskepticwhen messages get censored like that, one of the first things u can do to figure out who/what may be censoring u is to sort comments by “newest”. The way they display typically defaults to “top” comments. If your comment was censored by some RU-vid auto program, your comment will show when comments are sorted by “newest”. This is a quick way to know yt did it, not the creator. For example, I noticed there were 4 replies under this comment thread but only 2 were visible to me. I then sorted by newest and that’s when I was able to see the last 2 comments u left. So, yt did it. I have a feeling there are different levels of automatic censorship done by RU-vid. Sometimes I try the method I just described and can tell I am viewing all comments in the thread. But sometimes it’s obvious there are still a few hidden. I’m guessing the ones still hidden fell into a different level of censorship and remain invisible until after going thru some manual review.

I am deconstructing from an eastern meditation cult, not Mormonism, and I can see why this whole “let your ego die” thing is very enticing for people deconstructing from a high demand Christian Religion. It offers false freedom and another goal and the safety of community and something to believe in. I get it. But its still a cope and can lead you down a very dark road of denying your true human self and again be on the road to “better” yourself and chasing enlightenment instead of truly accepting yourself, warts and all. Do what you need to do in the moment to heal but don’t get stuck there. The meditation hype is based on other high demand religions, just from other cultures. When you really look into it, it falls apart just the same as Mormonism does.
