Ex-Nixon White House counsel John Dean weighs in on the pending testimony by former Trump fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen in former President Trump's criminal hush money trial in New York. #CNN #News
Trump says he's going to do so much for the poor, uneducated, lowly, repressed man. Let him spend some time with them in jail so he can really get to know his "people"
Oh we’ll be sueing each democrat come January for what you’ve done , meantime trumps rally is in a democratic state with 80 thousand maga 😂😂😂versus so will jail you all who was paid by democrats china or George soro’s
@@gulliverthegullible6667 trumps not suffering 😂😂😂😂 rally in democratic state 80 thousand maga , Biden’s been removed from 4 states for getting money from China
We have heard about how horrible he is for years, and no matter what, his supporters, many in our government, stay with him. Just shows us how devoid of character they are, too.
@@gacj2010 so unlike Jesus, NO redemption and no forgiveness ever, forgetting that you, like the rest of us, have things in the past you probably aren't proud of.
Do you know Nixon was set up by the CIA and all the agents did the recordings inside Watergate Hotel. That’s what Trump is trying to expose. The corruption within the government
I am not. The American Constitution is part of the reason someone like him was able to do so much damage while in office and out of it. So much of it is just poorly written and needs to be replaced.
Vote blue, we need more illegals here in the country, open border policy is what I want. 11+ million illegals is not enough to destroy this country. Love the open border Biden policy.
The GOP has dug itself into such a deep hole over the last 7-8 years and they just keep digging. My former party is unsavable at this point, and it will take at least a generation to overcome. Quite possibly two generations.
Too bad he never really took up the, "Art of being a Real President," instead of Witch Hunting and the stolen election for, "FOUR YEARS!" I can image that Trump has to pay people a lot more money to come & listen to his same old worn out messeges of pure hatred. Too late for that now because no one wants to listen if they ever did anyway. They use to get some selfies out of the deal but now he charges! Everyone already knows what old Smelly Bottom is going to say at every rally anyway so why bother goin huh?
@@annakingry9157 - then look at the party destroying our democracy. They attacked the president that the people elected in 2916. They destroyed the 2020 election-- there was no 2020 election. When people protested, they jailed them and THEY ARE STILL IN JAIL FOR PROTESTING!! It's absurd to gaslight us when we know you're gaslighting us!!
I've been calling him a career criminal, and I've so far found nothing to change my view of him. On top of everything else that's been exposed so far, he's also facing potential tax evasion charges. That shouldn't be a surprise.
He was raised by a criminal father to be a criminal and took to it like a duck to water. The criminal father was raised by a criminal father. If there was a family that should have been kept out of this country it was the drumphs.
When he becomes a dictator and so no longer needs them to stay in power. Then he can stop pandering to their wants in exchange for votes and focus only on what has ever really mattered to him: HIS WANTS.
With Judge Canon being so inept, I'm surprised Trumps lawyers aren't receptive to going ahead with the trial. She will undoubtedly lay grounds for an appeal if convicted.
@@mhall801 democrats cry about everything and soon they’ll be in prison it’s unconstitutional to take money from a foreign country , and these snowflakes should have read the constitution before committing a crime it’s a 20 year sentence betraying your country
Exactly her framing the question that way clearly shows either ignorance or compliance. Cohen was Trump's personal lawyer for god's sake. He fired him because he told the truth about Trumpy.
All that john dean did in this interview was point out that the prosecutor is presenting a very strong case and that Trump is angling for an appeal. If he was a shill, he might have also pointed out that Trump is Toast.
@@carlsonkurt87I’m sure Trump also is not a crook! At least Nixon admitted guilt by asking for (and was given) a pardon. In this NY case Trump could easily have made a deal with the prosecution, only receiving a relatively small (in comparison to the latest lawsuits he has lost) fine. But neither he himself nor any other POTUS can pardon him from a NY verdict if he would come up with the idea of after the verdict asking for forgiveness for the crimes he committed.
Maybe you should research Jeff Bezos. He paid $0.00 taxes for years while building Amazon. Also research Donald Trump on how the IRS has been empowered to look at every penny Trump has touched.
Dear John Dean: This interviewer is particularly good at bombing on Cohen. You keep winning the points, if though she is trying to push you into a corner. Beautifully navigated. Apparently the key words are salacious and not credible, and the on-air talent have the requisite talking points. Thanks, John Dean. Be well.
Yes, Cohen is salacious and not credible, but who was Cohen being salacious and not credible to protect? Cohen was the # 1 thug for Trump for 10 years! That small detail escapes these dumb talking heads quite often.
Not long ago, the idea that a former president-or a major-party presidential nominee-would face serious legal jeopardy was nearly unthinkable. Today, merely keeping track of the many cases against Donald Trump requires a law degree, a great deal of attention, or both. In all, Trump faces 91 felony counts across two state courts and two different federal districts, any of which could potentially produce a prison sentence. He has already lost a civil suit in New York that could hobble his business empire, as well as a pair of large defamation judgments. Meanwhile, he is the leading Republican candidate in the race to become the next president. Though the timelines for some of the cases are up in the air, he could be in the heat of the campaign at the same time that his legal fate is being decided.
Trump is a religious figure by now. People support Him because they feel it is their religious duty as Christians. Whatever Trump says or does, nothing will shake the support for Him.
But none of it is Chump's fault. All of these charges have been "Trumped" up by Sleepy, corrupt and demented Joe Biden. It's amazing but somehow Joe has been able to organize a MASSIVE movement against Chump by getting juries, judges, lawyers and others to form a political witch hunt against him. 😂😂😂😂😂 The day that Chump's foul mouth falls silent FOREVER will be a GLORIOUS day in the universe!!!! 😊
0:25, And don't forget Michael Cohen has the "Trump tapes" that he will release next week at Trump's "spanking" trial. Trump was "spanked" by Stormy!🤣😂That's one hell of a situation🤣😂
🤣😂No it's not illegal to get "spanked". But the payments and cover up are. If Trump just took the "spanking" from Stormy with no payment, he would be clear!
I'm sorry but to me, she was very credible because of the amount of detail she gave! Damn.. I can't recall what I had for breakfast yesterday let alone down to the carpet patterns... As a woman that knows many women, lol, I understand 100% the situation she is talking about as to feeling "cornered" and not wanting to do it and I'm pretty sure one is those 5 women on the jury know the same...
Bingo! Props to John Dean. I wrote about this in a previous online comment. Dean made the point, and I wholeheartedly agree, that Trump 's defense team elected not to object to objectionable parts of Stormy Daniels' testimony (ex., that he did not wear a condom) because they are deliberately trying to create issues that they can use on appeal. I have not seen many other so-called legal experts identify this reason to explain why the defense did not object.
I said last week that DT probably told them not to object so he could claim on appeal that he had “ineffective assistance of counsel”. It’s totally something he’d do.
@@peaceloveharmony7213 We think alike, but I don't think Trump will argue ineffective assistance of counsel on appeal so much as the prosecution elicited testimony that went beyond Judge Merchan's ruling and that that testimony was prejudicial to Trump. Trump's team will argue that it didn't matter that they didn't object because the testimony could not be unheard even if they objected and their objection was sustained. Basically Trump's team will argue that once the testimony was stated it will have an effect on the jury, and that bell cannot be unrung.
@@blairhoughton7918 I agree with you that that is normally the case. But, this is not the normal case because of who the defendant is. How can you explain the N.Y. Appellate Court substantially reducing the amount that Trump had to post to appeal after the $450 million judgment from Judge Engoron's court? There was no legitimate rationale for the appellate court to do that . There are several other examples I could cite, but you understand my point. So, as I see it, an appellate court could well overlook the lack of specific objection at the moment it occurred and instead focus on the pre-testimony ruling by Judge Merchan that such testimony was not to be elicited. I agree that such a ruling would not be correct under established trial law, but it is not out of the question that an appellate court could so rule. The fact of the matter is that in nearly all cases involving Trump, he has definitely not been treated as a typical criminal defendant. Instead, Trump has garnered significantly more favorable treatment in every case compared to how the typical criminal defendant would fare. So, I would say that you cannot evaluate this case under normal trial standards. It sucks, but the courts are giving Trump significantly favorable treatment that would not be afforded any regular criminal defendant.
The notion that the defense had a strategy of declining to object to testimony so they can later claim on appeal that the testimony was prejudicial or otherwise inadmissible is wrong. There is a doctrine in appellate practice called “forfeiture” or “issue preservation.” Basically, if a party fails to make a timely and specific objection during the trial, then any appellate claim about that evidence is forfeited. In order to preserve a claim for appeal concerning the admissibility of evidence, the party must register a timely and specific objection when that evidence is introduced at trial. Otherwise, an appellate court will not hear the claim on appeal. All trial litigators know this rule. The media and lawyers who have not been trial litigators or appellate advocates should gain a better understanding of the rules so they don’t mislead the public.
Cry harder snowflakes trumps rally right now is in a democratic state 80 thousand maga are there having a great time while you are marked for life as a traitor
Coehn was convicted of tax fraud, Making false statements to a financial institution, Unlawful corporate contributions and Excessive campaign contributions. This was cohen not Trump or Barr.
I give credit to John Dean. Thanks to him, the Watergate coverup was revealed. Of course, why not introduce him as someone who himself went to prison for his role in the cover up. Again, great to see John Dean on RU-vid.
SOME OF THESE PPL COMMENTING HERE WERE NOT BORN WHEN WATERGATE HAPPENED! NOW,???? I'D TAKE NIXON ANY DAY!🤣 The only difference is that Nixon admitted to the American ppl that he was responsible for the harm done. 45 never did and never will. In fact, when interviewed and asked by evangelicals what does he go to God with to ask for forgiveness?" He said he "never has to ask God for forgiveness for anything bc he's never done anything wrong."
@johnglover3682 John Dean's background is an object lesson in doing the right thing, when you've stepped in It seriously. To the youngsters who know nothing about his background, his words will ring with the same truth as they ring for us old folk who were right there for the entire Watergate debacle.
I remember the Nixon hearings, with John Dean, and his wife Mo sitting right behind him. It's nice to see him analyzing the mess of the trump shenanigans. Good insights.
Why can't Cohen just hold off a few lousy weeks on going off on Chump? Just keep your mouth shut and do your testimony and after it's done you can let loose. Don't jeopardize the case against Chump.
2:13 John Dean is right. It would be difficult as an individual to stand up to “the Trump team”- given what we know about them from threats to violence!
Judge Merchan said: I was surprised, Mr. Blanche, that there were not more objections from your side When you say that the bell has been rung when you say that this is prejudical you sir the defence has to take some responsibility for your own action here, your remedy is a cross-examination of Mrs. Daniels You had the opportunity to object you did not object, and so you have to live with that do you understand?
It’s like the rally in N Jersey it’s on the beach people will attend because they are wanting to see this Trump being foolish and enjoy their vacation time. Those visitors doesn’t mean they are supporters.
"Should" is a tremendously burdensome word...if only they would. The evil, destructive dynamo that is DT has been permitted to carry on with impunity. Wonder why...
Won’t happen trumps rally right now is in a democratic state 80 thousand maga are there plus Biden was removed from the ballot in 4 states for getting money from China
John Dean is brilliant. I'm so glad he's still going strong. When he was younger he was well known for his photographic memory, and it's apparent that he's still a very intelligent person. Meanwhile Trump rallies at the Jersey Shore, a place made famous for being filled with people who are the exact opposite of John Dean. And if you dare to watch the video of that group of deplorables, you'll see the comment section filled with bots and Trump maniacs inflating the crowd size from 30 thousand to 80 thousand, and then to 100 000.
Ah HAHAHAHAHA Just like you believed all those experts on the Russian collusion hoax AH HAHAHAHAHA 🤣. You leftists must love egg on your faces because you have plenty of it.
CNN: Would you like to come on our network and talk up a weak case that should have never been brought to trial in the first place and give our viewers a sense of false confidence?😂
Stormy Daniels turned out to be intelligent, smart, literate, and vulnerably honest, despite the defense's stereotyping. She won the cross-examination. And New York juries tend to be sophisticated in such matters.
Trump is toast just come to reality with yourself. Today a case was filed by IRS on trump for over 100 million in back taxes. This guy just can't stop being a crook.
The smartest thing that should be on every wise individual's list is to invest in different streams of income and not depend on the government to make money.
John Dean graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1965. After graduation, Dean joined Welch & Morgan, a law firm in Washington, D.C. Edward Pierpont Morgan joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1940. Mr. Morgan rose to be a chief inspector of the FBI and held that rank when he left the agency in 1947 to join what became the law firm of Welch & Morgan.
You are right sir, he is brave and I commend all those whether R or D or I that have put their honor and integrity and honesty before .....political intent and malicious betrayal ( this sums up 95% of republican party) SHAMEFUL !!!!
Why would they as they're simply the defense? Question, what LAWS did the prosecution come up with the man breaking? Other than the "HUSH MONEY TRIAL"? Like most Trump cases, we are seeing Democrat prosecutors throwing anything up in the air to see what sticks? This what our justice system is suppose to be about!
Before you have anything to say remember Miranda rights and reading them the right act and you know you're right before you choose to engage and then you have these conversations thank you
As far as I have been able to tell through my research and limited information, John Dean has not practicedlaw since his disbarment after Watergate in the 70s. If that is true, he has not tried a case to a jury in approximately 50 years and is not qualified to opine about this trial.
@aarone9000 that's the difference between you and me , I do watch everything. CNN is propaganda just as Fox News is . Sorry if I hurt your feelings, lol.
