Just be good at flipping coins and you will be top tier with Charizard. But indeed he’s not as strong, I started playing him yesterday and he wasn’t as weak as I thought tho. If your opponent is playing a deck with EX, you just need to beat 1 pokemon and you are sure you will kill anything they throw at you and be sure you won’t be One hit KOed, which may grant you another prize point.
I protected misty when this game first came out but then I used it and quickly realized it’s a freaking cheat code. The amount of times you just insta win is insane.
@felipefreire4593 the problem with this is that there's almost no opportunity cost for failing. It's not like it cost you mana or tempo to play the card. You fail, you just pretend it didn't happen and continue with your turn as normal.
Finally, a Monday tierlist for pocket! Would love it if you keep these up and do maybe one for non ex, and one for decks? Yeehaw love to watch you as always! Thanks for the content, cowboy! 🤠
I think wiggly might be higher, it can 2 shot most pokemon and the sleep is like 50% of the time a death sentence because of that ... unless they got heal And it does not really have many fighting type matchups yet, but looks like if it did come across a machamp it would get one shot which is pretty bad lol
I think the main problem with Zard is not requiring 4 energies to attack or even that it discards 2. The main problem is that is a stage two and if your Charmeleons or Zard are at the bottom you are simply too slow but that is a problem that affects all Stage 2 mons. I kind of wish they add a great ball to search for stage one and or ultra ball to search for stage 2 something like that. As of now I feel basic mons or some stage 1 will dominate the meta you already see Pika EX and Mewtwo EX winning tournaments.
I use Arcanine for fast end game.. Rapidash as tank ( cheap cost for attack and retreat ) I'll will use every trick to prevent opponent bringing B+ cards , so far so good... about -20hp after attacking not a big issue.
The marowak one was true because I had one of the most craziest matches with it. Like I was fighting against a Mewtwo and I got 8 tails in a row, so the opponent had a lot of time to setup their Mewtwo, but the moment that Mewtwo became active, my Marowak rolled two heads and it one shot that Mewtwo. Like I got 4 heads continuously, first it eliminated Kangaskhan, then took down mewtwo
My problem with Misty is that she can make any water mon that needs high energy to perform an instant A/A+ tier. There should be a rule; only one Misty allowed per deck. This way, you at least have to use it strategically.
I think machamp is pretty alright because it could oneshot Starmy with a Giovanie and pikachu without and is only a turn slower than them> To bad it is also in one shot range of Mewtwo + Giovanie
I think you might be sleeping on Arcanine a little bit. The one energy lower requirement than Char means you can ramp into 120 damage really quickly, and I think once the meta stops being dominated by big blasters, he’ll really shine
I'm on the part of the globe that gets their tierlists on Tuesdays. And don't get me started on the pink Thursdays. Yep, it's a real madhouse 'round here.. Real madhouse I tell ya..
Zard is very rough, I agree. The four big matchups every deck has to care about are Pika Staryu/Water Mewtwo Marowak All of these deck do good damage fast and will therefore kill the moltres quickly, and then even if you have a zard in play, you hit them once and then they Sabrina you and kill a benched mon for the game. Because it has to give up a 2 prizer early into all the really important matchups, it cant make use of that massive 180HP
@Siennarchist the advantages of charizard EX deck over mewtwo EX deck are its higher bulk (survives mewtwo EX's 150 hp attack) and higher damage (can ohko stage 2 EX). In a faceoff between the two, charizard EX deck should be slightly favoured but it depends who draws their engine better. If the guy doesn't draw both mewtwo EX, he will lose if the charizard EX ko the 1st mewtwo EX.
Mewtwo is deffo s teir. Once setup it hits hard and easy to pilot. Pairing with meowth to draw an extra card is vital to get gardivor stage 2 out. Probably easily at 90% win rate with it. I think the problem I have with the game is that getting the cards you need for the deck is too hard unless I am missing something. So I was lucky to pull pikachu ex and mewtwo ex and build the deck. I have none of the other ex's or basic/stage 1 to make it viable and so limited and stuck on just using the mewtwo deck i have.
I've played 18 trainer Articuno games where my opponent will concede immediately if they don't stack 3 energy on their Articuno. I don't understand why they are even playing the game.
imo venusaur is S just cause fire is one of the worst decks right now. it's super easy to get liligant going so even though it's annoying if you get it bulb on pre turn you can just sack or retreat while you prep ur lil. It's been super reliable for me esp with erika
The problem with Misty is that she's either insta win or insta lose sometimes... Water type is almost the only deck I can play with cause I don't have many cards yet, and I've been playing Misty so many times now. In the average it's really 50/50, but the feeling you have out of it can really be frustrating! In both ways, if you're playing her of facing her. I agree there's something to be changed about her, but she's definitely not God tier, she's good but not OP. Way too inconsistent to be rated above A tier. If Misty would be God tier, then so would be Marowak for example...
@@astrohawke4527 It might seem that way now because losing your Supporter for the turn isn't a huge loss at the moment. But as we get more strong supporter cards, you'll start to feel the misses much more
Not only Brock and Lt Surge, Blaine and Koga are also very specific. However what about if instead of nerfing Misty (which I agree is probably the most broken card in the game) they buff the other trainer so any type has a broken card. At least everyone have fun and not only water 🤣
I would make a D tier for Gengar ex because it's worse than the regular one, but I agree with the others, yep. Also, Misty should be banned and "printed" again (keeping the original in the game but unusable).
*MaChamp EX should have had Exeggutor's (90/2)attack mechanic, but the company clearly has favorites when even Blastoice Surf should do 70. I would disagree and say it's Sabrina.*
@@Xuhtig It may not be consistent, but literally loading into a game to get slapped with 80 damage turn 1 when you aren't even supposed to be able to apply energy/attack if you are first is not healthy gameplay and is a problem.
Finally got 2 copies of Misty off of Wonder Picks yesterday (wasn’t dropping in packs). 2 of the 3 games I played with it today were won practically turn 1 because of Misty. Agreed it’s a dumb card.
Very good tierlist, I think it is the best one I have seen so far. My only nitpick is that Mewtwo should be S tier, but you did address it. Also props to not underselling Exeggutor EX unlike some other tierlists. To me it is the lowest A tier EX or high B tier. It is for sure a flawed EX, but with a bunch of upsides as well.
i like the idea of pocket, it seems easier to get into than the tcg online app and i am thirsty for some pokemon tcg action, but man i really dislike the card design for this set...
its so hard to be ftp in pocket… i am rerollin my acc so many times to get at least two exes to build deck… but i need so many cards and cant get it :(
Get just 1 copy. With the amount of free things the game throws at you, you will most likely end up with a full complete Meta deck by the time you finish your missions and newbie rewards (around 50 pulls)
@@Kitsunaiko unfortunately I went through all the initial stages several times for a large number of cards, but I have never had more than 1 rare card and still I do not have enough other cards, let's say I have a mewtwo, but no garde, etc., maybe I just have zero luck
I’d start with a solid EX like Mewtwo, pika, or Starmie and just go from there. You can only get so many cards from a reset. Pick a deck you think looks cool and go for it. 🤠
made a second account to trade with myself later and oh boy, i got more rare cards than on my main account despite opening maybe a third of the packs. why couldnt it be the other way around 😅. im sure trading will be restricted like crazy, otherwise people dont need to spend money on the game
I got real excited when CharEX hit B tier. I think Gengar could maybe move up to A. Would have liked to hear your thoughts on the upcoming LaprasEX. The only thing I know about Misty is I don't like it. Several ideas about fixing it but none of them are without their own considerable downsides. I guess I'll just wait and see.
Just conceded a game to Misty rolling 6 water energy on a Articuno Turn 0. lol.. happens so often. cringe games. Quick loss is a good game though i suppose.
Yeah. Articuno as a card is strictly mid. Like 2 energy 40 DMG? 3 energy 80 damage? It's objectively just terrible. The only thing carrying this card is because it's a basic that can have a god misty placed on it t1. Without misty, articuno would not be played.
If you ask me about the Misty/Articuno problem, I fully agree. I actually really don't like the whole thing going on with the 18 trainers Articuno deck, it feels like an exploit. IMO there's three things that need to be done to address this whole thing. 1. Just change how Misty works. Like, for example make it so it flips exactly 2 coins and gives you energy equal to heads, kinda like a watered down (heh) one time use Moltres EX Inferno Dance. That'd both make it a bit more consistent (you'd have 75% chance of getting at least 1 energy) and also less high-rolly (you never get more than 2). 2. Change how going first works. Going first is actually kind of actively detrimental in this game, which is weird. Being behind on the energy curve is just so bad. But also, if you play something like Misty you might get to just ignore it and win the game on the spot sometimes, which is just dumb. Make it so the first player DOES get to attach energy, but they don't draw a card at the start, and they also can't attack at all, regardless of whether they have the energy to do it or not. If going first ends up being too good you could even make it so you can't use supporters when going first, like in the TCG. 3. Change how mulligan works. Right now the game just mulligans for you in the background to ensure you always open a basic in every hand with no drawback. That leads to exploitable 18 trainer decks and it's just not a good idea. Just make mulligan work like in the TCG - if you open no basics, you draw a new hand and your opponent draws a card, repeat until you have a basic. Want to play 18 trainers? Cool, you can, but your opponent is gonna open with like 3-5 cards of advantage, so there's a drawback for it now.
Yeah Misty needs a change. Even with your "can't attack turn one" proposal, the card is still troublesome. Since you can put the energy on any Pokemon, make it just flip one coin, heads the energy goes on the card, tails nada.
Starmie is the actual god card your list is flawed. Why is misty the only supporter? You youtubers over hyping her is so annoying. Misty is fine. She hits hard or not at all.
@@jessesutton7985 moltres should still be higher in the list than the other birds. they are not comparable. If fire gets a better pokemon to combine with it would make a huge difference.
@@lnscope No worries bud. I did just think of this as food for thought; while MoltresEX has big potential to support a variety of decks, the other birds have potential in receiving support. A way to accelerate energy on ZapdosEX could be very scary for instance.
As a Gengar enjoyer myself, unfortunately, he’s a bit too slow. The ability is great, but really only shuts down Sabrina by the time he comes online. Gengar loses almost immediately to Starmie & Pikachu, but otherwise it is pretty fair against the other matchups.
I think the main problem with Zard is not requiring 4 energies to attack or even that it discards 2.
