How refreshing to hear Charles Malet talk with common sense, and the fact he had the guts to resign from the police, when he realised the senior management within the force, were effectively morally corrupt. I salute you sir. 👍

Ex ARV officer here. I was once a proud, privileged and passionate officer. I found my moral compass during covid and the corruption. I couldn't fight it on my own. I don my hat off to you for also fighting the good fight. Re-group and Re-form 🇬🇧♥️

For what it's worth, my wife and I are ukcolumn members. Presenters have come and gone but we think the current team are excellent including Charles. Don't knock him because he has a posh accent, his time in the police and military have given him valuable insight into how things work. He is a patriot and a strong supporter of farming, he grows some food himself. He's usually on the column on Wednesdays. He has a sharp mind which he uses to benefit those of us who can see the agenda being unrolled.

This chap makes so much sense and it's such a shame the police - like so many organisations - don't promote people who think like this to senior positions. Instead, it's those who adopt a 'survival' yes-man mode who get on - and promote the status quo - all the while talking about reforming their organisation. But rarely for the better.

This happened in Australia's police forces too, all the decent, good-hearted cops that we want to be our police were fired or resigned because they refused to accept such immoral, inhuman orders being given to them. Just makes you wonder the type of cops that had no issue with the orders given & happily carried them out, who are still in our police forces 😢

What is wrong with todays police force is a woke college of policing, a msm who has been calling the service racist for the last 40 years, which has created a two tier police service, ACPO staff looking to feather their next career and too cosy to politicians, the service being allowed to be used as governments enforcers, badly written legislation and acts, too many officers rushing to get to the top ranks skipping from one department to another, a service being used to silence free speech or expression because of hurt feelings, will the service ever be perfect? no it's manned by humans who are recruited from society but getting back to basics would be a start.

Do you think a council should be allowed to employ a criminal contractor from Nigeria and give him millions of pounds of tax payers money that is likely to be funding a terrorist group and the tribunal seems to think it's ok for him to defend a constructive dismissal claim and pervert the course of justice and the police seem to think it's ok to turn a blind eye and my MP is doing the same

And accordingly they’re loosing their consent to police us. It’s a very troubling development and all will come to regret this trend. I must continually remind myself that the police are just a cross section of our greater society and will reflect the same blend of opinions. Also, like politics, it will always tend to attract exac the kind of people who are entirely unsuitable. We need to ensure that HR are actively filtering out those candidates rather than actively selecting for them.

Plod should have any discretion removed and every interaction recorded on their body camera for review and crimes reported regardless of how that may effect the accused's future life. After all we do see plod simply collecting ID at the scene of an allegation of a minor offense and allowing the accused to walk away so they simply palm it off to someone else and resume patrol. Allowing discretion to deal with crimes or not leaves the cop open to accusations of favoritism especially if they are seen to arrest one demographic and simply warn another of a different demographic when they have both committed a similar offense. Report and let someone of a higher rank decide. This man has never been a cop at the sharp end, and the Constabulary which allowed a shortfall of detectives that caused them to recruit directly into a detective role should be ashamed of themselves.
