@@ashkirby8896 unfortunately not the arcade remake but of the original yes. with Sunsoft's recent resurgence, i wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a port to console within the near future.
She does look way older than the girl in the original. But the anime girlness overload is amazing! This version is just visually and musically beautiful overall.
I really do hope some kind soul is willing to dump this thing's rom online eventually. While I do totally recommend funding developers for their works, exA-Arcadia's business model feels gaming-hostile. They only want to see these things as arcade boards at $1,257 USD a pop, basically ensuring that most people will never get to play this rather-stellar-looking remaster. And what's the point of a game that barely anyone can play? If there was a digital release, I would be happy to buy it. If I had $1000+ just laying around, I'd love to buy it and toss it to people who can dump the data. Sadly, I'm not that rich.
you see, because a person like you desires it, whoever is or isn't up there in the sky decided to not give everyone the luxury of that. If *I* had more money, I would find a way to make it a possibility for everyone except you
It's interesting the little changes they made to the final boss to make it look less "creepy". On this version, the final boss is a witch/magical girl instead of an evil wizard. Secondly, the girl is locked on what looks like a "normal bedroom" instead of a dungeon (which is kinda implied on the NES version with just a dark room with a door). Lastly, the girl has food right next to her; meaning she was being taken care of.
I suppose they made those changes so the villain wouldn't be too much of a monster, considering she and her fellow toys did what they did because they felt neglected.
@@crunchsixfoe Maybe.. but.. I still prefer original 8-bit versions over those 16-bit remixes. 16-bit is not bad but, I would have chosen the different instruments.
So like the original Gimmick is one of my favorite Famicom games so when I heard about a remake, I was interested but got my hopes up. Arcade only cocktease.
You'd be right, there's three things that contribute to that: 1) It's in a wider aspect ratio (something like 16:10.5 compared to the original's 16:15). It keeps the same 256 horizontal pixel count, but the viewport isn't as tall as in the original game. 2) The video appears to be horizontally stretched around 15-20% wider. 3) Adding to the sense of zoom-in, many of the sprites are a little larger than they were in the original game.
Yeah. This game sold very poorly because it was released late NES era and not even in the US. Now these guys seem to want the same thing. It would be good to release this on every current console and maybe release the original NES/Famicom version along with it
@@DuckJohnn they want people to go to the arcades, that's why an arcade operator would buy an exclusive like this. Exa is in the arcade business so it makes sense they wouldn't put it on modern platforms, or at least not until the game has had a proper run in the arcades.
@@matthewcoreyhall Aren't arcade devices quite rare these days? I have never seen current ones myself, at least not here in Finland. Maybe those are popural nowadays only in Japan and the USA.. I don't know.
@@DuckJohnn At least the NES game did get released in your country, albeit with a worse soundtrack, not to mention, good luck trying to find a Scandinavian copy today.
I think the new first phase looks ridiculous with the silly hat and umbrella, but second phase is better. And fits the soundtrack name better anyway, what kind of guy name is Sophia.
