Example of Calling CQ 10m CW and Working K7MG from WA Exchanged SKCC #'s QTH and RST

This video shows how I just sit down turn on the radio and start call CQ, you never know what surprises you will find on 10m, we exchanged QTH, RST and SKCC numbers which is a club many new HAM learning CW join.
This show how exciting CW can be you just never know with 5 watts how well your signal can do. What makes CW fun is so many people are learning and its exciting to find a station who is new and just learning I love this I can slow down and encourage them so they gain confidence. That is a big challenge is for new folks just to get on the air, those first couple of QSO's can be brutal, but once new CW folks get through them it get easier.

Steve, nice work. I’m up the road from you in Amarillo. Just learning CW but will watch for you on the SKCC Sked page and try to have a QSO. Really enjoying learning CW and using straight key. I’m also a yaesu fan. I have a 991a, two older hybrids. One is a 101B and a 101ee. Have some other radios but those are my main yaesus. Hope to have a cw qso. W3DSW

@@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 I do have one question. On my 991a I do not have the option of holding down the GM button. As soon as I touch it the screen goes to the GM page with a bold blue line with "ALL" in the blue. The options on the bottom are BACK, Group, and sync. Sync is not illuminated and you can not press it. How do I get to the GM codes. Mine is not the same as yours. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Wait… did you say you were talking to Washington from Texas on 5Watts? That’s amazing.. and his signal was coming in nice and strong too… I wonder what power level he was using. :) Nice job Steve… very nice job.

Hi Mike, how have you been doing I saw you on V-band today on a great QSO I think Channel2, it was so great Lon got us set up on the Vband a great place to practice ended up taking a work call had to drop. Yeah I just sit down this evening and started calling next thing I know WA is coming in, I run 5 watts on CW just for fun, I'm always surprised at the distance I can get with low power Anyway buddy hope you are doing good I really enjoyed our emails, I'll hang out on Channel 2 this weekend in case your on the air, 73 buddy great friendship 73

On 10 meters it's very easy to work the world with qrp. I've seen some guys use 1 watt or less and work lots of stations.
