It is really clear why the Gladiator Rubicon was the right choice for an avid outdoorsman like you. My Gladiator High Altitude don't spend much time in the mud, but I absolutely had to get one with fulltime 4WD and limited slip rear differential.

My 2020 Sport S with 33s and 1.5” lift went thru water that soaked the carpet during a flood when we received a call for help. Water half way up the doors but we made it to the old couple and got them to dry ground. I love my Gladiator and my 2005 LJ Most fun I’ve ever had with a 4 wheeled vehicle

Yep jeep has always been one of the best computer controlled brake controlled lsd systems out there. I love my lockers, but jeep is still super capable without them do to this computer controlled abs torque transfer. Even ram trucks have the best traction control of the full size trucks. Until 2 years a go we lived in Northern Michigan snow belt. Every ford truck I owned my wife hated in the winter as the traction control was so loose and she would slide everywhere. When I bought her the 2019 ram 2500 she loved it in the winter because the traction control was so tight the back end never slipped put on here.

It’s funny. Other vehicles are all like, “check out our amazing brake actuated traction control, it’s amazing.” Jeep is so focused on legit offroading with max articulation and lockers that they don’t even mention theirs, despite it being one of the best. I think that Land Rover’s is the other number 1 BATC, with Toyota’s Atrac next in line. Atrac is good it is just so damn clunky.

@@SamkoWorkShop it was a good offroader. Just got tired of it doing everything. I wanted to make the decisions. For example, despite having the model with a rear locker, it was not selectable, although I did find a hack around it. Also had a love hate relationship with the air suspension bc if it failed it drops to bumps stops, which offroad would probably leave you stranded. Always had that in the back of my mind. Thing was a tank though and could tow and carry a boatload. And the engine 😍 supercharged 6- so sweet and I love the whine of a supercharger. Even lifted and with larger pretty aggressive AT tires thing hauled a$$ and was a blast in the twisties. Love my JTR though. Bigger and more room, easier to mod, and I’m in charge. Plus no air suspension. But man, if I could put that LR engine in it. If Jeep sold the JT with the Magnussen Supercharger and up-charged like 9K for it I think it would sell like hotcakes.

@dadventuretv2538 yep a little more motor in the jeep would be amazing. The 392 is too expensive and being discontinued. But rumors are the hurricane i6 turbo might make it into the jeep wrangler and gladiator line up soon. Sure hope that happens. 500 hp in a gladiator would be awesome

@WreckedBrewery the whole roof is a pain to take off. But the doors and freedom panels is quick and easy. Most of the rime we just pull the freedom panels off as it only take 30 seconds to do. And the folding drivers side rear seat back has a lock on it so you can throw anything valuable behind the rear seat. The seat lock is next to the headrest and uses your key in your key fob

I believe the Traction control is on by default, correct? When would you turn it off? Thanks
@SamkoWorkShop
@SamkoWorkShop 3 месяца назад
Correct it is on unless you specifically turn it off. 2 situations you will want to turn it off. In 4 high when you are going thru deep mud or soft sand so that you can give it the beans and hit the gas without the traction control limiting your power and stopping your momentum. The other time is when you want to do donuts!

I can't imagine any patent being on ATRAC/TRAC/Auto LSD/MTS etc... it's all braking the slipping wheel and sending the power to wheel with traction. The only difference as you mentioned would be in the programming/logic. As a proponent of 4x4 tracton control I do quite enjoy trolling the "you NEED lockers for this trail" types with our Lexus' ATRAC and TRAC. I will also say "roller testers" should ve taken with a grain of salt. Many of them don't understand what's going on or how the systems operate... and I think one popular "roller tester" broke their brand new Tacoma offroading recently and nobody else abusing theirs has been able to replicate the same failure... just sayin 😂
@SamkoWorkShop
@SamkoWorkShop 3 месяца назад
very valid points! And I will add that the atrac (and I believe lexus has a similar version just renamed) is so tight and so little slip is as close as you could get to a locker. Atrac is amazing. MTS is good too, but atrac is outstanding. Toyota always did a excellent job on the traction control LSD. the 24 taco scares me though after watching tfl show the difference in traction lsd between 4 hi and 4 lo in both the slip test and the mogul section off roading. Hopefully thats gonna be corrected with a software update. And I can not stand how toyota makes you go into 4 low to use everything. Especially the rear locker. All domestic brands let us use the rear locker in 4 high. Down here in the swamp mud that is very vaulable.

Also, You asked about a video driving in mud. Just made it. Editing it this week and will be out soon.
@SamkoWorkShop
@SamkoWorkShop 3 месяца назад
@itsallminor6133 don't need a locker at 45 mph or on pavement. But at 15, 20 is really nice. Limited slip works pretty good. But so many times I need the lockers. Limited slip just won't cut it. Have a video of real world testing this coming put soon. Yes when you have a locker on and are breaking both wheels free is gonna slide. But, and a huge But, the locker allows you to get and Mai tain traction with much less chance of wheel spin at all. I spend all my time (300 miles a week) in 4 high and 25% of that time with my rear locker on and 10% of that time with both lockers on in 4 high. With that capability I have zero reasons to ever have to go into 4 low. If I need longer held gears I hit the offroad plus button and done. No more stopping every 300 yards to go into 4 low to get the lockers to go thru a tough section, then stopping to get out of lockers and out of 4 low and repeating a few hundred yards layer. The number o e reason I sold my tacoma was because of that 4 low only crap. Hated it for what I do. Absolutely hated it. I promise this. I will never own a vehicle without lockets and I will never own a vehicle that makes me go to 4 low to use them. Fortunately many companies have caught on to this reality like for, gm, and jeep. And I'd take a gladiator rubicon, a zr2, or raptor ranger all day every day because of this simple allowance.
@MikeSmith-ey7ku
@MikeSmith-ey7ku 3 месяца назад
Weird, I hate traction control. That was like barely stuck at all. Not really buying it. I thing you are thinking about a grand Cherokee. A limited slip. Rubicons have lockers that only work in 4 low I thought. Not trying to talk shit. On my second gladiator my first was a sport s with no limited slip. Mojave now. Rear locker in 4 high why I went with it.
@SamkoWorkShop
@SamkoWorkShop 3 месяца назад
It was barely stuck but it showed by the small amount of wheel spin a few tires during that hole that it was loosing traction in one wheel and kicked in the other. The rubicon can use its rear locker in 4 high exactly like the Mojave. But the rubi also has a front locker. But the front locker only engages in 4 low. Unless you have a tazer mini, witch I do so I can actually use my rear locker in 2wd, and in 4 high I can use both my front and rear lockers. But the lockers are nit part of this demonstration. This was all about computer controlled wheel torque transfer thru traction control. And jeep has one of the best systems out there. If I had traction control turned all the way off and did the hole the same way, as soon as the front dropped into the Deep part of that hole the truck would of stopped and only one rear wheel would of spun and it would of been stuck until I did something to get it out. But the computer controlled algorithms of traction control sense the wheel slippage and applies brakes to that spinning wheel so the torque applied to the other wheel increases allowing the wheels to work together and get more traction and keep it moving theu the obstacle.
